  1. Hey mate. I'll pm you, is be keen to get one off the guy you know. Also happy to take you to my secret place I go catching muddies. Probably a month away from any success as yet and very little gear required.
  2. Cheers Jon, This will all be land based, so near the rocks for me (Unless i drag out the yak). Any advice on types of pots? Cheers
  3. Hi Everyone, Been a while since my last post. I was keen to see if anyone has had any luck, or tried dropping a lobster pot around Pearl Beach / Patonga way. I've got my mud crabbing down pat but was keen to see if i could get a lobster for the wife as she is not too keen on muddies. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! Chris
  4. There should be plenty in Tuggerah Lake and Lake Macquarie. Just look for some mangroves.
  5. All by hand (well prawn net). No traps allowed in Brisbane water.
  6. indeed, was a great run. Brisbane water, on the central coast
  7. The muddies came out after the rain. Got these on the weekend in under an hour and saw many more as well. Fingers crossed the season continues like this although knowing my luck it was just a teaser of a weekend.
  8. By the way, that wasnt traps. Torch and a net wadimg through the mangroves.
  9. Sorry missed the post. Brisbane water for me. Was slow the following week but saw more the weekend just gone and a decent 1.7kg buck. Ill get pictures up when im back in the office.
  10. Nice catch mate! I think its going to be a good season for muddies. Got 5 in under an hour the other week!
  11. I thought you weren't able to drop them in ocean waters. Please correct me if im wrong (As i never hear back from fisheries) and never take my nets to Norah.
  12. Ive seen some there also, I generally take them out when i do see them. I hate when people break the rules. I personally havent had much luck with blue swimmers myself but do much better with the muddies.
  13. Hi Everyone, I do a little bit of crabbing in Brisbane water (NSW, central coast) by hand lines for blue swimmers and mud crabs but also have some traps at home (Lift and 4 entrance crab traps). Does anyone know the rules regarding using traps in the ocean and how effective they can be? Im talking perhaps the likes of terrigal, avoca, Norah etc. It looks like the lift ones are a no go but doesnt say anything about not using crab traps in the ocean. I was just thinking when out on the boat, dropping some out takes a few seconds and may mean some additional catches. Any advice appreciated.
  14. Hi All, Just wondering if the bonnies are about at Terrigal at the moment? Been a while since I've been out there but hoping to get the Yak out after xmas? Anyhow, I wish everyone a safe and happy xmas/new year! Chris
  15. Hey Raiders, Ive just moved over to Umina beach and not really fished around there at all. I was wondering if anyone has some good land based (to take the little one) and Kayaking spots for myself. Also any idea if there are any land based squid locations as my little man is quite inquisitive at the moment and loves the old squid. Any tips / Baits / Targets etc would be handy. Cheers, Chris
  16. Hi Kingy, I took the plunge about 3 years ago and bought my first yak, without even taking it for a spin and i have been over the moon with my choice. Got a Hobie Revo 13. Its great when heading out in the blue as well as lagoons etc. Peddling is great as it keeps your hands free and if you are unfit like I am, when your legs get tired you can give them a break and have a paddle. They are obviously more expensive but really hold their value. You wont be disappointed
  17. Just wondering if anyone has fished Norah head / The bull recently and what's happening out there. The weather is looking decent and swell not too bad so thinking of taking out the kayak but not fished it in some time.

    Kayak on Coast

If the weather is good next saturday, myself and a mate will hit terrigal. I haven't been out for a little while so keen to get the yak in the water and feed the fish.
  19. Just wondering how people have been going around terrigal/avoca way. Im planning on launching the kayak saturday morning around the haven for a fish. Interested to hear what people have been catching, where and with what. With the little one only a few months old i dont get that much time on the water so want to make it as productive as possible. Cheers, Chris
  20. One of my favourite camping spots, just dont leave anything in your car as its a prime break in spot as you have to park so far away from where you camp. I've not done any fishing there so would be interested in hearing how you go.
  21. Nice one and welcome aboard. Where abouts where you fishing if you dont mind my asking and were you land based?
  22. Nice one, i'll have to get the kayak out there.
  23. Myself and a few mates went down to terrigal haven for a night fish targetting Flathead and whiting. Didn't have that much luck on either of those (Got busted off with a big flatty as it reached the shore) but did manage to pull in a nice Shovel nose ray followed by a meaty 39CM bream weighin in at 790 Grams. I was very pleased with that as a by catch on a number 4 longshank on prawns... Photo to follow.
  24. Nice one! I'm keen to try out some Luderick fishing, havent done so yet. Where about's have you been going or is it a closely guarded secret I too am on the coast. Any tips on location, gear, technique would be greatly appreciated. Cheers, Chris
