  1. and you didn't put one out live for a jewie because??
  2. Hi I have seen this a few times before but must admit never 300 fish. As i do quite a bit of surf fishing, i have seen this on the beach. What I have seen also before is a large amount of dead birds washed up at a beach. Mother nature is strange
  3. Great to see someone excited about Salmon. I am over them, not a good table fish! Must admit though when I first got into surf fishing about ten years ago, I was always pumped in chasing them on light line.... Just hope you don't hook a bronze whaler on 10lb, goodluck
  4. Why are you turned off fishing? When you cross the road, do you look left and right before crossing? if you cross without looking left and right and you get run over, do you think it will put people off crossing the road? Education is the key, 90%of my fishing is from the rocks and we fish some extreme locations but NEVER do we venture when we see or read conditions are not right. seabreeze and BOM understand wind and swell and know what the right and wrong combinations are, wear appropriate shoes etc. I am sick of hearing and reading about the media and others beating up rock fisho's, perhaps we need to spend more time educating people. thats my 5 cents anyway and was sad to hear of the deaths
  5. Huckfin A rod is an extension of your arm. When fishing off rocks and even beaches a long rod is ALWAYS an advantage as your extension is lengthened and you can point your fish where you need him to go, also a light rod as the blackfish are very tempremental and the first sign of weight they will not take your offering. The alley syle reel, well why spend $200 on an egg beater reel and have to watch where you place it and not be able to leave it in salt water and be weary if you drop it when you can do all those things with an alvey and more. What I love is the art I have learned from palming and playing a fish on an alley reel. My 5 cents anyway
  6. Cungeee George I am looking forward to be being able to fish my boat without sea sickness. Might try for some red and flat head tomorrow. I tell you what if I get sick tomorrow with a 0.2m swell I am retiring the boat.
  7. Fish will tend to migrate I love wash fishing and a W wind will flattennthe seas out. Unfortunately by Friday it will be 4 days of flat seas, not sure how the fishing will be.
  8. Are you serious? Groper are not a tasty fish. I would take 10 pigs over a 7kg groper. nice catch though mate
  9. Could they have been squidding?
  10. Catch some live bait and send it out JEWFISH. ALSO CALLED MULLOWAY
  11. I heard today that the pros recently netted 200tonnes of dollies over the past few weeks. Anyone hear of this sorry to hijack the post
  12. Hey Keofferman Today was tough, awesome tides, warm water, I had 20 live yakkas and 2 live squid and went ballooning off the rocks near old mans hat for one small rat. Very annoying Tried some wash fishing and managed 8 blackfish and 1 bream. 2 hours of bait gathering before a 5am fish for nothing... Anyone get into some kings today?
  13. Yes your right, we have been hitting the harbour rocks balloonign and only managed one good king to 81cm. Heap of salmon smashing my yakkas but not much more than that unfortuntaley... Ill be ballooning again in the morning from 5am with some live yakkas and squid so might report something if the conditions are right
