It is a normal mistake thinking this damage is done to the fish by nets but this is not so. It is Notch back deformity. This deformity is believed to occur when the fish is a fingerling the cause is possibly poor water quality. The fish are still edible. This is a common fish deformity in the Hawkesbury.

Best hooks for Bream I find are Mustard 9555B 1/0 also ok for Flathead .But for the bigger Flathead 2x 5/0 Mustard penetrator one tied with sliding snell to adjust for different size large baits eg Yellowtail fillet or butterfly.

Not a Leather jacket wrong shaped tail possibly Tripod fish or triplespine.

I am right handed I have always turned the reel with my right hand. Not changing, when you get to the end of the fight I prefer to search/aim/use my right hand with net/gaff/pliers rather than my uncoordinated left .

I HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM .after months of checking the hull .Finally found the leak.Unbelivable the speedo tube !! running from the motor to the speedo a hollow pipe activates the speedo by water pressure It had a small hole it was hiding amungst cables and running down the side and under the floor UNSEEN at full trottle it really pumped some water out!! Patch it up now no prob .

Would they be employed by fisheries dept.No way rec anglers catch more than pros.! 1 commercial estuary will catch more fish in 1 day than a rec angler will catch in 5 years Reread the faq 54 tonne for commercial total. They say 100-500 t for rec fishermen now why am i s uspitious of that number ummm is it because its a GUESS is it because they are unsure of 400 tonne give my a break!

The 70 cm limit I guess had to come to bring it in line with the states Queensland 75cm Victoria 60cm but most novice fishermen ever catch ajewie over 70cm in their life!!! The fisheries prefered option for Commercial Beach/ocean haul of 500kg per day is ridiculous.HOW IS THIS GOING TO HELP STOCK RECOVERY!! At times I have hooked these strange things I believe they are a shark egg posibly a portjackson shark egg.
