  1. Yowie, its no fault of your own & no offence but your spoilt for variety here in Aus! Plenty of people buy/eat tinned Sardines which are actually Pilchards........................bait only in some peoples minds! Same as anchovies, herring or white bait................some peoples bait, other peoples food!
  2. Thats something we all have to deal at times with no matter where you fish in Australia! I will put this to you, with less visibility the fish rely on vibration more, so if fishing artificials the SP's I would go to are paddle tales. Alternatively I would also go the a vibe of some description. Baits in the right location like eddy's would work well. Good luck ✌️
  3. The search tab is your friend 😉 https://www.fishraider.com.au/search/?q=noosa&quick=1
  4. Everywhere has run out from what I hear, the solution is to just check the tides & the weather.................hook up the trailer & do what the test say's 😉
  5. Yeh, but this is not a covid thread, its a poke at it! I was sent this from a friend & It cracked up...........................because its true 😉
  6. I haven't been feeling myself lately because its been ages since I have had the chance to get out with to many work commitments. So I had a test today & I came back positive 😳 No surprise really 😅 On a serious note If any of you out there have Covid I hope you are doing ok, we are all going to get it eventually
  7. 😂.....I see what you did there. Got to think about where the rest of it is 🤔 Sounds like an entertaining day & some fish in the eski to
  8. Just goes to show how if your not sure about a fish handle it very carefully 😳 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cnidoglanis_macrocephalus#:~:text=The estuary cobbler is an inshore marine species, found in holes and on ledges in banks. Description[edit] Like other eeltail catfish, the cobbler resembles a catfish in front, but an eel behind. It can grow up to 91.0 centimetres (35.6 in) SL, 2,500 grams (5.5 lb). They may live up to 13 years.[2] The dorsal and pectoral fins have sharp, venomous spines that can inflict painful wounds.[2] Treatment[edit] Treatment of injuries by submersion of the wound in hot water is suggested though the role of heat in denaturation of toxins is debated.[4] However, despite this study, hot water immersion is still the recommended first aid treatment for envenomation. 9. Not sure if it has to do with la nina(most likley) but the warm currents are pushing right up against the coast & an even warmer current a bit wider off the nsw coast is being pushed down from QLD. Press play on this BOM web page & you can see it push down off Sydney. http://www.bom.gov.au/oceanography/forecasts/idyoc300.shtml?region=NSW&forecast=SST#
  10. Yep. Like anything mechanical, service logs, level of maintenance etc all play a factor in somethings value. I would rather by an older boat that someone has looked after & serviced regularly than a newer boat with no history & not maintained, you can tell! Imo forget about free sites, full of time wasters, look at boatsales.com or go to a second hand dealer. Take someone with you as well with more knowledge so they can be more objective. But much more experienced guys on here than me when talking boats.
  11. The 3M is some of the best tapes made out there! My 4 window weather shields on my 4x4 are held onto the car with 3M double sided tape & the wind rain forces of going 110kph cant even pull them off, been there 7 years now! The biggest factor would be the surface & the preparation. Fresh duco cleaned with metho makes a pretty good contact surface. As long as you had a very clean smooth highly polished surface I recon it would work fine. Salt degradation could be a long term factor thought?
  12. Some existing threads with similar question that cold be of interest to you- There are plenty more in there if you do a search
  13. This is one of my earlier skutes made with a brown feather & some green bucktail. Plenty of us use many types of feathers in tying. I remember an episode of hook line & sinker where the guys set a challenge & one of the guys used some hair cut from his dog to make a lure..............& it caught fish. I don't have a dog which is lucky for it because it would probably be bald by now 🤔 😅
  14. Fresh fish frames will work best, whatever you have. Even carp 😉
  15. I wasn't suggesting anything other than replying to the statement that "I don't think participation has changed much if you look at the official figures".
  16. Totally agree, I also don't think jumping into someone else's car doing it for them is the right thing either, you could get yourself into a situation if something goes wrong that will bite you. All being good, thanks for your help buddy All going bad, your paying for it! That's the world we live in now!!
  17. Could have been worse................could have left them at home 😆
  18. They are still out there. Also its a know fact that since covid started boat sales & fishing licences have increase exponentially, just like camping gear & caravan sales. What else could you do?? https://www.abc.net.au/news/2021-11-17/more-fishing-and-boating-leads-to-maritime-safety-warning/100628498
  19. There are also free apps as well that will help you in many ways like the NSW DPI Fishsmart app. Once downloaded under the rules & information tab you will find all different guides for salt & freshwater fishing which includes rigs plus all the NSW rules. It also includes maps so your not fishing in restricted/sanctuary areas & size & bag limits to. https://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fishing/recreational/resources/fishsmart-app The other best thing you can do as XD351 was suggesting is use the search tab on the top right of the screen, there is a wealth of knowledge in here & you can use it like a resource library. There are also NSW DPI fishing guides available to help you out as well. Good luck
  20. Nice work Gordo 👍. I found the gummy I caught in Botany bay to be quite tasty when I tried it for the first time.
  21. Sound advice there. I recently spooled a shimano travel rod combo the spider wire brand braid which I bought because it was on special(300mtrs 10lb $20). I noticed when spooling it was leaving a waxy residue on the edge of the first guide(closest to reel). Tied my usual FG knot & pulled it tight before full closing it of & no problem, did my usual close off knots & when it was finished I pulled hard to test in & it pulled off the fluro 😳 I ended up getting a warm most rag & wiping the tag of the braid to get the wax off it & also doubled the number of turns to get more bite area on the leader. @HawkesburyParadise the reason we mostly use either fluorocarbon or mono as the 1 to 1.5mtrs of the end if the leader is for a couple of reasons, it is more abrasion resistant than braid & it also has a bit of stretch which allows a bit of a shock absorber effect where braid has next to zero. On some of my heavier outfits that I use braid with a could have 2 to 4 mtrs of fluorocarbon for the later reason. But for a cast rod keep it shorter so the braid is already past the last eyelet in the cast position.
  22. Absolutely agree there GH. I've had a set of lip grips in my bag for over 7 years & used them once & realized pretty quickly they do more harm than good imo. If your catching up to 1mtr Barra, big GT's or decent kingfish then yeh maybe. Otherwise the best thing for the fish is gloves, wet towel etc.
