I've only really caught flatties, bream, and whiting so far on soft plastics just at Greenwich and lane cove river. I don't really know what's active at night to target.

Hey for soft plastics a pfleuger trion 2-4kg with a shimano sienna 2500 is pretty good for the money. I'd suggest you find a better tackle shop if your local just tries to sell you the most expensive stuff every time...
