  1. Thanks for the input, I decided on the 60 Merc EFI from Leisurecoast Marine in Wollongong, they really offered the best value for money Cheers, Doug
  2. Thanks guys, I will speak to a mobile mechanic, I guess they would deal with most brands.
  3. Hi All, Am buying a new 60hp for the boat, but undecided as to which would be the best buy. As you can imagine the Yamaha guys say theirs is better and Suzuki and Mercury say the same. It would be great to get an unbiased opinion from you all. Thanks for your input. Cheers, Doug
  4. Well at last I got to get the boat wet. Having asked for some help on plastics I ventured out with my brother and gave the plastics a flick. Would like to thank all who gave me advice, and though still very green behind the ears I will keep trying. Here is today's result of my first serious go at plastics
  5. Thanks guys, like I said there are so many out there but I'll start with some of the ones that are mentioned and will get back to you all. Love this forum, everyone likes to help, thanks again guys. Cheers, Doug
  6. Thanks Paul will try them next time Cheers, Doug
  7. Hi All, Just wondering what are or would be the best plastics for flatties from your experience? I am trying to get into them and it can be so confusing, went out yesterday but no luck. Am trying to leave the bait at home and really have a good go with plastics so any help would be great Cheers Doug
  8. Out there this morning, NW at around 18knots not much at all, though did land a nice 48cm flattie and one which could have easily been around 10cm and it took off like a dart when we put it back. yeah, always next week Cheers, Doug
  9. I had the same experience last week. They either don't care or just don't give a toss about sustaining fish. You try and be polite and let them know what they are doing is wrong but they just ignore you. All you can do is keep harping the point that it's illegal and no good for sustainability of fish in the area Cheers
  10. All done guys, they certainly do deserve a pat on the back. And motor being looked at now.
  11. Well what started out as a good day turned into a bit of an experience, boat running well all morning and about lunchtime we couldn't get the motor started and we ended up drifting towards the container ships in Botany, as soon as we got too close Port Security turned up and asked if we were allright, when we told them that we couldn't start the engine, they just said ok where are we towing you to? When we get to the boat ramp there is Maratime waiting to help us dock the boat. Both guys were unbelievable, so friendly and couldn't do enough for us. So if you ever break down in Botany it's great to know that someone is there to help out. Thanks a million guys. Oh and we did get a few trevally, so all in all an experience Cheers, Doug
  12. This is how accidents happen, very lucky skipper THIS time
  13. Try emailing Yamaha direct in the USA,or find a Yamaha dealer over there
  14. That's so sad not to be wearing a life jacket, especially the young ones. Isn't it mandatory for 12 and under to wear a life jacket? Such an unecessary accident.
