Hey guys me and drkcld went to harbour today around 3pm started fishing till 8pm. When i got there this old man caught a 40cm+ thumper bream!!!!. So today Drkcld caught this massive 65cm flathead on my slimie fillet. Which was gunbait for this flattie! We were using chicken and prawns to catch slimy mackerals. There alot of them but it was kinda hard to hook them up this time compared to last time. So it took a while cuz it was still early in the day around like 7pm. When it got darker the fish started biting harder. A couple of nice blokes gave us a few more slimies, ended up with 7 slimies, gonna cook half and use the other half for perfect bait tomoro! Lemme describe the fight with the flattie. Started off taping on my big rod, was using 15lb crystal fireline with 40lb fluoro trace. The flattie felt sooo heavy when it was reeling up, at first he thought it was a rock but it started peeling some line towards the pylon, everytime it pulled it took alot of drag because the drag was on nearly full and it still took quite alot, then he thought it was a kingie or something until it surfaced. Luckily a couple of nice guys there helped us land it with their net. This happened just when we decided to stop on the slimies and go home lol luckily we didnt. Drkcld's new pb of 65cm w0o0o0o beat his old by 5cm. lol

wow! thats so good, first time catching all those kingies. I totally agree with going out with a charter guy and learn something. Skills used for a lifetime. lol congradz! i still havnt caught my kingie yet.

catching these guys are so fun. You can catch them where u usually catch yakkas, well thats for me, they seem to hang around the same type of area. Anyways do it at dawn or dusk, its perfect time. What i do is use a very small suicide hook and put a small piece of chicken unweighted out on the surface and they really quickly find it and pull kinda hard too.

Havnt posted in a while cause i havnt caught anything decent. But just went to the harbour today catching a whole bunch of slimy mackerals and one 47cm Flatty all on chicken meat. The place had quite alot of big decent flatties around however i couldnt be bothered to fish for them as I already got one myself, so i continued fishing the crazy action from the slimies. I never caught slimies before so this is the first so i dont even know if they'll taste as good as yakkas. I caught like 8 within 30mins. I was hooking them up so fast, lol I kept boasting about how many seconds i can hook one up to Drkcld. Well Drkcld had 2 slimies and a few yellowtails for bait. He lost his live yakka to something(got chumped up). And my other friend caught another 2 slimies. Also I think i lost another flathead when i tried to reel it in, but i think i was pumping my 9lb mono line a bit too hard so it broke! cuz i thought it was a snag cause it felt super heavy but it was kinda moving. But we had a great day today. Think it was a day before a storm is coming? or maybe the moon? or the cloudy sky that made the fish bite heaps there. (28 degrees, 5-9pm)

yeh i've fished off the bridge at night which is good. However i can recommend you using live bloodworms and walk down past that bridge towards the lake side. There should be this small beach there just past this single house. Its a short stretch but if u cast out towards channel with live bloodworm u'll hit a couple of decent whitings. BUt remember bring big sinkers, cuz the current there is very strong when the tide is running. Just in case though.

how does people get abalone gut ? i hear it from fishing forum all the time about using the gut as bait. lol do they sell the gut? or does people actually get it themselveS?

where'd u use ur sx40 at in IC? i find that theres heaps of snags around the city west link scretch. i dont wanna snag my sx40! but i heard that HB only works wen its middle to low tide, is that true?

how come everytime i fish palm beach wharf i always get leatherjackets on handline during the day around morning after sun comes out? but during the day i dont catch breams or yakkas or anything at palm beach wharf! this is by boat anyways
