  1. I have a 12m x 6m shed in the backyard that over the years has kept us all amused and well hydrated with various alcoholic beverages for hours on end and at times all day when having BBQ’s etc.

Over the years I’ve had a full size billiard table, table tennis table, air hockey table, dart board, and up until recently an indoor driving range.

All those years of fun times and great laughs I’ll never forget.

These days I only have my dart board in there and gym along with all my tools, gardening gear etc.

And I have a bed in there for my new mate that I adopted after the neighbours moved and left him behind.

I think he’s a happy little camper now.

All the baits that seem to work in my area are soft.

I think you answered your own question.Pointless using tough baits if they don’t work.

If I want a “tough” bait  I use squid,You can buy arrow squid or calamari or catch it.I buy squid tubes from the fish shop and cut it into strips. If the fish are there it works…if they’re not there it doesn’t.Same for soft baits like nippers ,worms etc. When there’s lots of pickers I tend to move spots more than up size bait.Im a pretty average fisho, below average probably but even I know a smaller bait will hook will catch more fish than a bigger bait and hook.

Perhaps try something like strip squid tubes in your spot with a combination of moving spots if pickers persist, changing time of day like nights( way less pickers at night).

  4. Forgive me father as I have sinned on a yearly basis for decades after  reading these posts and replies.

Hope you’re feeling better mate and I doubt you’ll forget again.

People just not paying attention, driving along in a dream world.

Many new vehicles these days have the new mods - lane assist, proximity assist, radar control, etc, etc. The drivers of these vehicles rely too much on the vehicle's electronics doing the work so they switch off. As I say, some of these drivers could not drive their finger up their own ar*e.

I agree 100% mate.Just as much as internet and social media has made people dumb and lazy  so have all those electronics.

Getting hit up the back is no picnic, it makes you very nervous for a long time. I hope there is no injuries to either party.

Mother in-law got cleaned up 20 yrs ago turning from same spot, same place.

They need to fix Appin Rd.Well actually they need to fix the morons that frequent it.

She had stopped to turn right into our property with heaps of traffic coming into Campbelltown from the coast and nothing behind her for miles.Shes was talking to my son in passenger seat waiting to turn when all of a sudden a mighty bang from the rear pushing her 5 feet forward with her foot on the brake the guy cleaned her up doing 80k he didn’t even brake or anything as he said himself he was distracted talking to both his kids in the back.

i have a solid steel rear step on the back not the crappy tin chrome ones most Utes have. That took the brunt of the hit and bent the mounts real good.

Basically I need a new tailgate, rear step and light.Or I might just put an ally tray on it.IMG_2037.thumb.jpeg.db20f51c28e3e73117a1077474abf702.jpegIMG_2033.thumb.jpeg.bd9926c69506100f5572d5f7feebc3ff.jpegIMG_2034.thumb.jpeg.828a508f2fdea0d9755df681af2c6f2a.jpeg

Blowing my own trumpet (again) but not only am I the Weber king, but also have the crown for seafood on the BBQ too…….seafood on the Barbie is quite tricky. My Swordfish is to die for, and any Greek folks would kill for my whole Bream over coals, somewhere along the track I lost my folding fish holder gizmo that I use for fish, must buy another one.

You can have you fish king title..Give me meat any day.😂

Are you planning on moving or a fly in fly out setup? A very good friend works up in Gladstone on a FIFO basis and he “likes” it, doesn’t love it, the money is good, and the time off is good, but, long hours, every day gets old real quick after a while. Do you have a truck license? I have a friend that has an excavation business and is constantly looking for good reliable drivers, money not like the mines, but it’s an opening if you get “stuck”

I’d have to move Perth,Kalgoorlie itself or Darwin.I don’t lack job offers mate but thanks anyway. And yes I do have truck license.

Long hours isn’t a problem as I’m use to it.Just looking at the hours/days/pay/being away from family for extended periods, etc and getting paid a lot less than I do now for my troubles isn’t worth it me thinks.

Had a brother that worked the mines in MtNewman top of western Australia and a cousin work the gold mines around Alice Springs and they both loved doing it. But they were both single men, don't know what it would be like for a married bloke.

Exactly my thoughts too mate. The more I think about it the more it’s unappealing to me.

    Cheers.

  11. I’m getting the boot and been offered job in mines in Darwin or Kalgoorlie super pit.Above ground I won’t do below.More than likely driving one of the dump trucks if I go.

Anyone been or know anyone or more about it?Roster will be 2:1.

It is a stupid law to stop people parking trucks at home . It should have a clause in it stating a long vehicle is any vehicle over 4.5t gvm and longer than 7.5m or cars with trailer is exempt. Deep down the residents there want the ramp gone so I would say they have lobbied there council to install the signs .

There’s trucks parked all over the streets where I live and that doesn’t stop them.

Nothing happens unless a resident lodged a complaint with the council and the rangers will come and warn or fine them.

The residents where this ramp is located will be a pack of whingers whinging to council.

In my experience the closer to the city/water suburbs you get the more whingers there are that don’t want the 💩in there backyard and I don’t blame them with some of the grubs around parking in trailer spots, leaving rubbish behind, yahooing at all hours, etc.

The solution is exempting boats and trailers during holiday season but the cost of living will come down before that happens. In other words it won’t.

i dont agree with some of your reasons fab1 .alot of people only get that time off work to go fishing over the xmas break with there family, hence why its busy at ramps .it would be awsome if we all had the choice to only fish weekdays and lots of people work 6 days even 7 now just to make ends meet ..Robbos only complaint is the nsw goverment has a road rule that you cant park any veichle over 7.5m long or over 4.5t for more than 1 hour on any build up area  50km zone rule 32 street road cresent etc  ,which is the most stupid rule among many out there .which needs to be changed cheers dunc333

Perhaps for 2 weeks or so at that time of year they could relax the law on it if they wanted but it won’t happen as if someone has a accident or something councils liable.

The rule is there to stop people parking trucks and the like wherever they want causing issues. That rule has been there since god was a boy.My father in-law is ex council ranger and would give people the chance to move on or get fined.

I’d take great privilege fining the imbeciles that park cars in trailer parking areas if I was a ranger.

As for only being able to fish Xmas the best option is get there at sparrow fart with the whole family before the crowd. If that’s 2am it’s 2am and make sure you’re in a designated trailer parking area.

Not sure if this is the best place to post this but I wanted to warn fellow Fishraiders of the approach of Willoughby Council to parking on Lower Cliff Road near Tunks Park (Lower North Shore Sydney).
Between Christmas and New Year the ramp was very busy and all the trailer parking at Tunks Park was gone so I did what everyone does and parked on the road leading down to Tunks - Lower Cliff Road. The parking there is clearly sign posted as 12 hour and then further up the hill 72 hour.  My understanding was that Willoughby Council had placed these time limits there to stop people leaving their trailered boats there indefinitely. I parked my car and trailer (Mazda CX5 and trailer for a Quintrex Fishabout 430) in the 12 hour area and was gone for about 4 hours.

I subsequently received a fine of $129 for "Stop heavy/long vehicle longer than 1 hour". There were a lot of others already parked there when I parked and others who arrived after me also there, so I assume there were a lot of fines issued despite there being zero safety risk or inconvenience to others.

I challenged this fine and   whilst Willoughby Council has decided a warning is sufficient and is waiving the fine, the response was that:

"A long vehicle must not stop on a road in a built-up area for longer than one hour. A long vehicle is a vehicle that, together with any load or projection, is 7.5 metres long or longer. The issuing officer notes your vehicle exceeded this length. The restrictions are not signposted as they form part of the road rules. You can find more information in the Heavy Vehicle Driver Handbook available from Service NSW at www.service.nsw.gov.au or by attending your nearest Service NSW Centre or relevant authority.'

As with many ramps, there is only limited designated trailer parking and after that you have no choice but to park on the street.

It seems to me the only way to ensure no fine would be to disconnect the trailer from the tow bar whilst parked - which is not a great thing from a safety perspective. Not sure

There’s always the choice of going somewhere else or home or not fishing when 6 million other people are out there. We have choices mate.No such thing as no choice.

As for your post looks like the 12hr or 72hr parking is pointless as I don’t know anyone that boats/fishes for an hour.

My advice is avoid any ramp during any Xmas,Easter, school holiday or public holidays as it’s a no brainer that there will be morons about and it will be packed.

Thanks for warning people about getting fined.

You can never have too many BBQs, cooking for a crowd, I use the Weber for a “chunk” of meat, the standard old Beefeater BBQ for mundane stuff like Sausages, and a small Weber Q type thing for Seafood. Then there is the BBQ that we take away for day trips, and a cheap copy Weber I found on the side of the road that I use for a smoker (sadly it’s gone to god now)  it’s like fishing gear or golf clubs, they all do different things.
Just on sausages, this is a never ending domestic argument at my place, I like supermarket sausages, no meat, just bread crumbs and sawdust in plastic skins, (I think there is a note on them “caution, may contain traces of meat”) my wife likes proper butchers sausages, full of blubber, fat a gristle in some kind of animal intestine, when you cook them you need to call the hazmat unit because of the stuff that comes out, then bursts into flames…….am I tempting anyone?

I’m with the wifey on this.I wouldn’t feed Coles/woollies sausages to the dog sorry.

Once you find a good South American butcher you’ll never look at Woolies sausages the same way.

As for your previous reply about my bbq there’s as many ways to cook meat as there are ways to light a fire.
