Me & a mate headed out yesterday morning to clifton & middle head. At the top of the tide the kings were there in numbers, it was insane, but found they wouldnt touch the squid. All they wanted was any sort of lure that you could find in your tackle box. A few different colours resulting better than others. They hung around all day. we left about 2:30 & they were still going nuts.

im with him. lilli pilli is good. U can fish a good shore based spot off swan street i think it is. just have to pick & choose when you go there as alot of boats will pass through here if its a nice day, so best off goin mid week, but does produce some kings & some nice bream,

I am a regular fisher in the georges & have eaten many fish from there. Alot of blackfish that have been caught further up the river than that. Also, my dad has fished the georges his whole life & my family has never had any problems with eating fish caught from here.

Bought squid. Didnt have a great deal of time to go catch any.

I agree, It is hard to say. Depends on the size of the jew for a start. Guess its just one of those things you've have to play around with & see whats works for you.

Gday guys, On friday afternoon at work, i thought to myself, wouldnt mind having a beach fish tonight, so msgd my mate & told him to get the beach rods together. The thought didnt last long........ got rumour that a guy was catching jews in the river & jumped straight back on the phone & told him that plans had changed & i was putting the boat in. He didnt object! Launched the boat about 6pm & headed straight to the spot. Got there & motored around for a few minutes until we found the hole on the sounder & a few fish sitting in it. Dropped the anchor, Rigged up & loaded the rods with fresh squid. Conditions were perfect. Moon was up, water was merky after the rains & tide was very slack. Sat around for an hour or so & not much was happening. As soon as the sun dropped, there was surface action everywhere. 9pm came round & then rrtt......rrttt.....rrrtttt, then nothing. We both looked at eachother. About 3 minutes later rrrrrrrtttttttt....... my mates rod goes off & he's on. Straight away i've called jew. He's thinking sting ray, shark, eel........ after 2 or so short runs around the boat, his debut jew surfaced. Not as big as some of the specimens we've seen on here, but none the less, a jew. there were high fives & maybe even a hug. It was the only fish caught for the night, even though we had about 3 more runs, but came up with nothing. It was a great way to start the new year. It measured 75cm & weighed 5 kilo. Like i said, nothing to big, but when its your first, who cares. Huntingforjewies

Dont worry bout the congrats on the fish or the new bub.............. more praise should be given for the fact that you have the mowing, edging & fertilising the lawn.

Gday, guys. Headed out this morning with fellow raider livebait to the bridges in the georges, to first try for some jews. It was absolutley fu*+ing freezing as we hit the water at about 5:30am. Had no luck on the jew front & even if we did get a run, i doubt we would have been able to move our hands to strike as they were either in our pokets or were tucked under our bums. Pulled up anchor about 7am & headed up the river to our favourite blackfish spot. The action started straight away, pulling in a couple of keepers & also a few throw backs & then as the tide slowed, they went off the boil.... it went dead!! Persisted with this spot for the whole of the run out tide & with about an hour or so left of the run out, it picked up pace again & we were back in to them. Livebait done very well, landing a few good ones, one of them going 33cm & had some weight behind it. At the end of the run out, the little ones seemed to have dissapeared & the downs were few & far between, but the qaulity of the ones that were being landed were great. Ended up leaving at the start of the run in, for a long hard days fishing for 8 keepers. Huntingforjewies Here is another pic from last time we went out:

Gday Mick, We caught them on the illawong side of the river, across from Lugarno seafood restaurant. there is a rock wall that runs along here & some sort of old shack/house. You will find them right along there, but you have to pick the right tide & also the time that you go as there can be a bit of traffic through this area. If you have no luck there, there are heaps of other places not far from here that you should find them. Try on the Lugarno side too, in close right out the front of the restaurant. Gday guys, headed out fri 28th about lunch time with another fellow raider (livebait), to one of our normal spots to try & get in to some black fish. Spent about 45 mins there for no downs, so the anchors came up & we headed to another spot that we took a liking to. for about the first 20 mins or so, not much action. Then the tide picked up some pace & started to eddy & the fun began. Plenty of downs & ended up going home with 9 keepers between us. After doing well on the friday, we decided to head back there again on the sat. arrived about the same time & it didnt take long. After about 10 mins, down after down. The quality of the fish this day wasnt as good, but they were there in numbers. We would have thrown back 20 or so between us, but even these little buggers put up a great fight on light gear. We also had a rod out each, fishing the bottom with prawns. Livebait was on to a nice blacky & as you do, you grab the net straight away & help him land it. While i was doing so, my other rod, buckled over, so i set the hook. Net in one hand, rod in the other with a decent fish on. Not knowing if i should drop the net & land my own fish or continue to help livebait, the rod tip flew up & it was gone. reeled it in to find my hook had been taken & the fish was never to be seen . Anyway, after alot of small blackfish we ended up with another 9 keepers. Pics will be added soon. huntingforjewies

gday livebait, nice catch mate. Ive fished down there before with one of my mates & didnt get much. Obviously you have found a good spot. I think the weed we were using was no good either. That is a big lesson ive learnt, u need decent weed. Ive been trying to get some weed lately but cant manage to find any. There are some people out there that just take more than they need some times. Keep up the good work, might see you down there one day. Cheers, huntingforjewies

Gday Raiders, I have just recently purchased my first boat & have been keen as mustard to get out in it. You wouldnt read about it, would you? we've been in a drought for how long now?......, You go out & buy a boat & doesnt stop raining. Well anyway, I scored the day off work, so i thought i would go & fix the rego transfers & all that sort of stuff while i had the chance, also had to get a tow bar. Raced around all morning getting all that done & the skies strted clearing. Eventually got home bout 3pm & that was it. Hooked the boat up & me & a mate hit the water. Only went out for an hour or so, mainly just to give the new beast a run, but in doing that landed a couple of nice bream at one of our favourite spots. So what started as a wet & boring day, turned out to be rather enjoyable & i cant wait to get that thing back in the water.

No hard feelings, i cant forgive myself either. To tell you the truth i havent chased jewies for long, so i put it down to inexperience. Any tips would be much appreciated

Gday Raiders, Well, me & a couple of mates headed out on the house boat around 9am on tuesday morning & as i promised, i will let you all know how we went. To start off with, there were no Jews , which was dissapointing but as we are not familiar with the river, we didnt really know where to go for them. In saying that, the few days we had were awesome & none of us wanted to get off the boat on the friday. All in all we had a good feed out of what we caught which was 13x flathead, 1x bream, a blue swimmer crab, an octopus, & 2 hammer heads which were released & a whole heap of other little things. One of the flathead was a good size at 70cm, taken on live bait. all of the other flatties were caught on soft plastics & was in the space of about 1 hour. We actually caught about 30 in the hour but only the 12 of them were keepers. Other than that, there was alot of alcahol consumed & a few sleepless nights as we were pumped up to catch one of the big buggers (jew), which didnt happen , but still a great peaceful few days on the water.

Gday raiders, This is my first post. Only just found out about the site about 3 days ago & i must say, what a great site it is. Anyway, me & a few mates are getting a houseboat this week up the hawkesbury & are very keen to get in to some jews. As none of us have fished the hawkesbury before & being on a houseboat, we wont have a sounder to find any holes, i was hoping someone could give me some advice on where to find some jews. Also where could we get some livies. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks raiders & good luck. Will keep you posted on how we go.
