  1. This is more than True, have a look at the results for the Royal Pahang Billfish tournament, my team came third, i have no idea where half the other teams were fishing cause they got 1-6 fish for the 1.5 days of fishing. if you didn't put your clients onto at least 10-15 fish you had NO BUSINESS taking people out as a business. http://www.rpbic.com.my/rpbic2013-result.html Anyway if you want or anybody else wants to go just PM me and i'll look after you guys
  2. I wouldn't advise going there without a booking, especially if you can't speak the local lingo. If you do chance on somebody to take you, if they have no bookings, likely they are not a good operator anyway. Get a few people and book with somebody that has a good reputation, send me a P.M and i can help you out as iv'e fished there a few times and even placed in their yearly sailfish tournament. Spyros
  3. Nice, I'm fishing the tournament in September. Who's your boatman?
  4. Don't talk too much about the Nurse. Before you know it your favourite beach will be clasified as a congregation zone in desperate need of protecting as there are no more nurses there. They'll slap a marine park over it and thats that. On the Jew though, that's a top effort! Daylight Jew just look totally amazing.
  5. Hey Mate What did you do with that Hammer in sig pic? Did you keep it and eat it?
  6. Nice fish Robin! Go get em Tiger!
  7. Nice one mate Damn good groper for your first Groper, my first was only about 50cm brown.
  8. While all the advice may produce fish it will also likely produce the following. 1) a BIG fine or maybe a CRIMINAL record PlayerOne seems to have an idea of the sanctuary zones but some of the advise re the reef you have been told to "check out" is 100% a sanctuary zone and pretty much in front of the Jervis Bay Marine Park authority offices. How long do you think somebody fishing in that sanctuary zone up there in front of their offices would last? Based on other people's experiences not very long. You don't even have to be "fishing" in a sanctuary zone to get done, just having your gear rigged is enough! It aparently it shows "intent" and thats good enough to get you. Please look at the map on the link before anybody fishes that area. http://www.mpa.nsw.g...bmp-map-11.html Getting a criminal record for fishing is extreme but is happenning all the time due to the penalties that have been insisted on by extreme green groups. Could we possibly get mods to check on spots being recomended in Marine Park Zones? I would hate for somebody to get in trouble over advice they got off this site. That would be a real shame considering all the great advice thats on here for most fishers. I think this is the second time somebody has been told to fish in a sanctuary zone on this site. Last time somebody put a big circle around the docks and told somebody it was the tubes and to fish there!
  9. LOL good one. Mate next time fight it yourself, don't go giving the rod to some guy that was useless. He was too scared to even go anywhere near the edge! Its a flat wooden pier and its 5kg drag! In the absence of a big girls blouse emoticon i'll use this Also its not really land based game with a surf rod and a dead yakka. Kinda more land based plonking.
  10. There is no way its a Marlin its way to cold for them. I think it was either a Halibut or a Mekong Catfish by the way you describe it pulled.
  11. The guys at Global Tackle really know their stuff! Top guys as well and really recommend them as well. You should also check out their kingfish poppers! WOW! I just wished i lived closer to them...
  12. Big Big NO NO in my books. You got there at 4am and as far as i'm concerned the spot was yours. Fair enough to share but to move your rod and throw it on the ground when he got there after you, well...... Your deffinately much more patient than me. I would have been extremely upset with the person most likely have asked him to leave and not to fish within my personal space of 10m from that time on, and all his mates if he had them there. As you can see i have a thing about people touching my gear without asking............. Then again i can understand your non confrontational aproach and i do commend you for accepting this idiot for what he is. good lcuk with your fishing mate

    Lbg Tackle

Ive never uised the rods but heard the blanks are good but components could be better. However the reel looks more suited to boat fishing than LBG. the line laying system on that reel runs the chance of getting jammed if it gets a knock or bumb and LBG usually does that. Anyway thats my 2 cents, You'll still get fish with it, just watch the line layer.
  14. Mate they are there all year and there are some HUGE sharks at JB and you don't need to be at the Tubes, the front has them as well. I'll give you a buzz tonight.
  15. Yeah fair enough, i guess your pulling them out of cover and on the stones were pulling them into it. Mate if it works for you go for it.
  16. I disagree with this, i pretty much use 100 to 120lb leader from the rocks and get as many if not more smaller kings than anybody else. However i have been done on 80lb leader and won't put it on accept in high quality fluro!
  17. I remember a few weeks ago somebody posted up that Avoca is a safer rock than other places. I also noticed that he has been there once or twice. Guys Avoca is not a harbour Jetty, in 15mins in the right conditions you can go from flat and bone dry to water over the top and 10m back! I have seen it! Wear the right footwear, wear a PFD if you can't swim well, check the weather, and learn how to check the weather! Or don't...... Just don't be doing stupid stuff in front of me because I really don't want to see you drown or get smashed to a pulp between a rock and the Pacific Ocean. Also nationality means very little I find when it comes to safety or obeying fisheries rules. I have seen people from all races do stupid things. The faster we all start to not stereotype the better it will be for all of us on the rocks! Show respect for each other, the fisheries rules and teach each other safety and technique but also have etiquette. I also endorse the enforcement of etiquette.
  18. Hi Guys and Girls I want to head out for a quick fish after work tomorrow to get a few yakka's to use as squid bait on Friday night. Thing is I haven't fished the Harbour for ages! Does anybody know where there are a few yakka's around just on dark? I'll only have about 1hr to get a couple before I have to go to training so the closer to Parramatta the better. I'm only going to get 4 or 5 but I’m after the small to medium sized ones about 10-15cm long. It’s almost weird to ask about yakka’s but hey time is short and was hoping to get some local knowledge. If you want to P.M me that’s fine and really appreciated.
  19. PAZ that is not the Tubes, thats the Docks and it takes 2hrs to walk there. It's also a Sanctuary sone in the Marine Park and a favourite spot for dive boats that influenced the descision to make it a Sanctuary Zone. If anybody wants to find the Tubes, do what we all did, go down there and ask questions and walk. Its much easier now than when i first did it trudging through tick infested bush.
  20. TLD 30 and 50lb line means your limited to just Kingfish. To fish this tackle in peak season is a waste of time as if you do hook a marlin it WILL spool you and make lots of others very upset. to fish for Tuna your too heavy to geta good drift with smaller baits and you'll probably only have 400m of line on so if you get a good fish you'll get spooled. to fish JB successfully you need at the MINIMUM a TLD 50 loaded with fine diametre 24kg line to get 700-800m on it. Most people use Tiagra 50's with 1000m of 24kilo as standard. There is a reason for this, spend enough time dowwn there and you'll see the reason. JB is not some majic spot where you put a bait out and there are millions of massive fish waiting to take your bait. It's a great spot if your willing to put in massive days and nights. For my money there are just as good kings off sydney and central coast if you know how to catch them. Drum and Drumsticks is off limits thanks to our friends in the Navy, also to send somebody out there that is new anyway is dangerous as to get to the front of JB usually means climbs in and out! There is also talk of the Navy closing the Tubes due to the amount of Rubbish being left behind by fisherman and they are serious about it as well. So if anybody heads down take your rubbish with you. My advice would be to stick with Avoca and Sydney till you learn rigs, how to fight fish, bait, presentation and most importantly etiquete, etiquete is very big at JB ansd its something you don't often see at Avoca as you don;t run 100+ metre drifts. I'm putting my money where my mouth is and after doing 3 seasons at JB i'm chasing kings this year mainly from the Central Coast, Sydney and Wollongong. I'll head to JB if the Marlin show up, but last year they showed up for 3 days and were gone! Most of the guys that got fish lived on those rocks for weeks to get those fish midweek, so if you head down in peak season don't expect to get a spot. If you do make sure to remember that at JB live bait takes priority over casting a pillie or a lure (etiquete). p.s Are you the dude that was at Avoca last weekend that i helped out and tied the snell rig for the squid? If you are I'll be up there again on Sunday having a bash at the sambo's again.
  21. Hi Guys Its the last dasy to put up a submission to the Jervis Bay Marine Park authority to avoid the increase of Sanctuary zones in Jervis Bay Marine Park. Please go to the following link http://www.savejb.com/ I did this today and it took me about 5 mins and i read everything before i agreed. Please take the time to go to the link and if you agree with what is being said then put your name on it, leave your own comments below and make a submission. Remember even if you don't fish Jervis Bay regularly, if at all. We need to show strength in numbers. This is your opportunity, it can't be simpler so please take the 5 minutes for such an important issue. If the mods want to do anything to increase the likelyhood that members will read this please take what steps you think are needed. Spyros

    Eating Pj's

One day my mate caught one that was about 15kg. He decided to eat it so we set out to fillet it up. I would say that for its size i got a very small amount of meat from it and felt really terrible to have killed it for such little meat. Although not protected I can't justify ever killing one again.
  23. These are the 2 bits from the Greens policy that i am most concerned with. In the section under measures numberred 20 "ensure that the National Representative System of Marine Protected Areas program has legislated targets of a minimum of 30% ‘no take’ areas per bioregion by 2012." and number "restrict the use of seismic devices and other technologies that cause ecological harm, particularly to marine mammals. " The reasons i worry is that you can bet your bottom dollar that the 30% will be on top of your favourite fishing spot and that seismic devicec = depth sounders. Vote for who you want, I'm happy that the country will run ok under Liberal or Labour. BUT i'm concerned that a labour win WITH Green preferences means that when the dealing is going on behind closed doors a lot of the extreme policies will stop being policies and become law.
  24. Hi Guys and Gals The liberal / National party have released their Fisheries Policy before the election. I'm not going to tell anybody how to vote. Just take 2 minutes to have a read of what we will get with the Coalition compared to Labour / Greens coalition against ALL fishing. My vote will go to the Coalition, vote for whoever you want, just don’t waste your vote. A vote is a powerful thing and we should use it wisely and promote its wise and educated use to our friends and family. By wasting votes or even worse voting for a party that sounds cool cause you don’t care allows that Party to bring in their hard line policies . One of these parties may be the Greens with their hard line no fishing, no fun policies. Use your vote wisely. Spyros Fisheries Policy.pdf
  25. Guys don't worry about what others are doing. Worry about what we are doing, or more importantly, not doing! If we don't get off our own butts and lobby hard for ALL of our rights relating to our sport how can we expect others like the opposition to do it for us. The opposition aren't in government, they also don't have the numbers to stop a law as the greens are in bed with labor and will vote side by side with them on this. If you don't like politics and politicians thats up to you. But if you don't fight for your rights by playing the game properly and fighting hard where it counts we will pay more dearly than this. Has anybody from the local area of Paul Mcleahy gone to visit him? I'm sure some have as they care for their sport. Why don't you guys tell us what happenned and maybe motivate others to take some action as well?
