  1. Good one Nathan very nice fish for a strapping young man , this is one of many angry females that i have caught. She was captured between Box head which is a headland at Gosford and Lion Island and that is at the mouth of Broken bay. She was caught and released on the 6/ 1/ 2009 and her weight was somewhere between 5 and 6 kg (note the wire i had pierced through her mouth to control her anger, this will heal) and the angry ladies length went a massive 82cm....... ENJOY and good luck. JOHNNO

  4. tryhard, my answer to your question about fishing the hawkesbury on sat night for the high tide change is do what i do go fishing rain hail and darkness. I know its been raining and the water is dirty and the catties and eels love that but a good fishing night can and will be had tonight , so what im trying to say is fishing is about getting out on the water and having a good time and i love winter time fishing, in fact i to will be out there with you tonight looking for that big jew or even a hairtail or two would be nice. tryhard you cant catch fish sitting in front of screen. Mate i have my boat hooked up and im ready to go around 3pm and i will be on my own cause the mates say its to cold to fish ( girls ) . I have a blue and white 385 Feathercraft tinny JV646N with a 15hp Mercury on it so if ya come down tonight stop and say Gday. Launching boat at Apple Tree Bay and first stop across from Cottage Point yacht club . JOHNNO
  5. Fishraiders i am after some info on how the area between spencer and the road bridge is fishing at the moment if anyone has any. Its been two weeks since i last fished the area launching the boat at Berowra after work at eight and spending the night there in the cold with not a boat in sight with my son and we both had a ball with the bream drifting the banks in the dark dodging some monster spiders with both of us using hand lines with 5kg line and no sinker and a bucket full of soaked wheat for the burley. Lots of the bream caught are under size but every so often the bite was savage and so was the size of the bream behind them. I hope my son does not read this post cause i would not admit to him that he caught more than me but fork and spoon the 14yr old was on fire with his best fish at 39 and mine at 39half (porky pie). This weekend the boat will be launched at Spencer caravan park on friday arvo with a few drinks with the owner after setting some traps for mud crabs, hope they are not all asleep as yet. Looking forward to all replies on the area mentioned and if your out there this weekend come and say gday. Boat is a blue and white 385 Feather craft built in the year i was born 42years ago with a new 15hp Mercury outboard that im still running in. JV646N JOHNNO
  6. Nice one, that was very politely expressed. Fello Raiders, my input to this site is very minimal but i do enjoy hours of good advise. My catch of jew have always been as mentioned but i would like some advise on how to get the rod out of the rod holder.
  7. Balmain Bob i travel from Penrith to fish that area and my reply to the king trapped in the pool is dont be fooled by these fish, remembering that they are very good hunters with lots of speed and team up to get a feed even if it means slipping between the gap of the shark bars. Bob i to have seen them in there chasing squid and have watched them enter and leave through the exact same gap as they entered. I also have lost more fish than caught due to them running for the baths when all hell brakes loose with 60kg braid with 80kg leader ripped to shreads around them. Beer always tastes better with fish JOHNNO
  8. Hi Seb, squidding can be a cruel sport with days of smiles and the next day at the very same spot that gave you lots of pleasure, NOTHING. Mate i cant give you the perfect answer that your looking for but im sure one of the better known squid fisherman on this site will help you out as long as you dont cross the boundry and ask for there squidding locations. Seb keep your chin up and just do what you enjoy, keep trying with all the little tricks you have mentioned and i suggest you go to your local tackle shop and buy yourself some fish attracting spray which i use when hunting for squid, even ask at the store for info on catching them and im sure they will be more than happy to help you out and supply you with a little more info on the right rod to use which could be one of many lost squid and also the right wieghted jig in the area that you target them. 9. Holly sqiud ink jewgaffer, slap me in the face with a mullet , better still i think its to the fridge for a beer before anything else. Now i see that you have spent many hours thinking about the questions you have asked and for that i will re-name you the WARRIOR. Jewgaffer this is the best site you will find to answer any if not all the questions you have spent so much time thinking about. My only piece of advice i will give you is to dedicate the time you have spent on your research and listen to what the fellas will tell you and try to add it all up and maybe some day we will cross paths fishing for the silver beasts i love to hunt for all year round. One last thing before the beers finished TAKE notes of all fishing trips tides, moon , wind ect ect , it took me a while to get some pages up but now its MY bible. CHEERS JOHNNO.
