  1. that sounds like an effective technique.. I was just feeding them pippi and failing at grabbing them. Anyway i'll try the method at Terrigal Thanks Parraman
  2. Thanks for all your replies Here a photo of the jewwy.. It sure put up a good fight for its size
  3. Hi Raiders, Just a quick update of what happened during my time in Forster with a mate One afternoon went for a flick at Forster near the boat moorings and together we caught 3 undersized flattys, 1 nice pike which we kept for the breakwall, 1 flounder, 2 leatherjacket and a legal flatty. We were also astounded at the size of the mullet which were idling under the public wharf. They would've been 60+ cm. Our next big session was a frustrating 4 hours of trying to catch our first beach worms. we raised so many head and as the arched their backs we'd miss them This session brought out the most amount of swearing which would've scared anyone from the beach. The last big fishing session was at the break wall where our hopes were high after seeing a guy pull up an 82cm jewwy on a herring. With our bag of herring which we'd collecting an hour before, we lobed them out and after waiting a while, pulled an 80cm shovel nose. We also got good bites on a pike fillet which didn't eventuate to a fish and lost others on the perfect bite size herring we had. Al in all a really fun fishing trip amongst the surfing and lazing about
  4. thanks for the replies i was just thinking of halving them or just chopping the heads off and embedding two hooks in it do you think this will be as good? Parraman
  5. Hi Raiders, as the title suggests I'm wondering how garfish fare as a bait for jewwys.. Caught a couple today and have a session in mind for Saturday so I kept them in hope that they would be a good bait Thanks In advance Parraman
  6. Thanks guys sorry battling to add a photo
  7. Hi Raiders, Starting off at now my favourite jewwy spot, my mate and i started off by collecting about 10 yakkas after losing 2 two a greedy cormorant and a heap falling off the hook, we had fresh bait and a wharf to ourselves.. SO GOOD! With my mates rod baited with a bottle squid and mine a fresh fillet off one of the yakkas, we deployed baits into extremely warm water. After about 20 minutes my baitrunner tears off at a steady pace and after about 5 secs of running i struck! BIG weight and plenty of headshakes resulted in a 67cm jewwy, first for sydneys water! That was at about 830 with the run out tide and things seemed to die down after that, probably because we had no decent time in the water without a ferry interrupting! Parraman
  8. Hi Raiders, The day started with a nice 52cm flatty landed LB with a few nerve raking moments whilst trying to land it solo. My two mates and I then put his tinny in to go and try our luck in Tarban Creek to shelter from the wind, dedicating the whole session to plastics and it paid off! We first landed a legal flatty (38cm) which seemed so much bigger as it was foul hooked. Everything went fairly quiet. After a couple of hours nothing happened before we emerged out of the calm creek to be hit by massive winds, no match for the tinny, but anchoring up again and casting at structure soon resulted in a 42cm flatty followed by a lost fish of around the same size. With a Powerbait Minnow and a finesse head, I casted out to the side an slowly jigged it back until all hell broke loose with my rod bending totally in half. The fish took a couple of fast runs before swimming straight under the boat. The rod now was at breaking point before it was relieved when I somehow got it around the motor. More fast runs and a precarious netting left us with a nice rat king just under legal sized . All in all a really successful day for us and Summers looking very positive.
  9. Great price hey! I got so many good deals also in malaysia mid this year and there's so many tackle stores there for it. Best i got were owner hooks and yozuris Parraman
  10. Go for blackies there good in numbers, healthy fish and put up the best fight
  11. Abbotsford you can fish at both wharf and reserve but not at the wharf from 5am-10am applies to all ferry wharves im pretty sure. Never had any luck on jewwys at abbotsford however im sure you could probably get one and i think id use fresh squid rather than yakkas however both would work. This is due to the constant ferries coming in at night but they do stop at midnight i think. the only let down is the battle to have a full cast with the shelter in the way. Pier 2 i reckon has really good potential for jewwys because its really deep there you can catch squid, yakkas and its in the middle of the harbour which gives you chance of pelagics etc.. Yeh im not sure if its been banned because i haven't seen a great deal of people down at the wharf love to know aswell Parraman
  12. Thanks everyone for their replies
  13. Cheers for all your help
  14. Hi Raiders, i would like to giver Manly Dam a fish this weekend to try some of my first freshwater fishing. For some reason i am going for carp. Does this involve just small sinker and hook and corn or bread? Also bass on plastics? Curious to know if these species are easy to catch there any feedback appreciated Parraman
