  1. Are these things any good eating? I caught one last week and it was almost 35cm?
  2. Hi guys Just a small update. Got the motor on the other day. Attached everything today. Only thing left is to fine tune it and then take it out on a test run. Was going to today but it's my sister's birthday. If anyone happwns to see a 12 ft yarracraft run about with a 30 hp mariner on the back waving for a tow in Botany on Sunday it'll be me. Lol I hope not.
  3. Thanks, I might just get it a full service before I get her going, Seeing it sat there for a year with no starting. I didn't get a service history report with it.
  4. Hi Everyone. I'd normally just jump straight to this and not ask for help but I don't want to stuff this up. I'll keep this short and simple. Taking off a 1977 28hp mariner (front steer), Putting on a 2000 30hp mariner. (tiller steer) I think I can figure out the basics of how to convert and attach everything. The motor sat in storage for at least 1 year, Under the hood looks like it was really cared for. Any pointers on what I should do after I get it hooked up and before it goes in the water or even started? I'd like to kick it over before I even start installing it so that I don't do everything for nothing, is this a good idea? Thank you
  5. I was in pinta bay yesterday night. Hooked a monster of a hairtail. Got it to the boat after 10 minutes of fighting it for it to spit the hook. Needless to say I let a few bad words slip out of my mouth. Caught two 40cm jews as by catch. The hairtail was on ganged pilly n the jews on live yakka.
  6. I hope not, I'll be there in 4 days and want to bag my first hairtail, it already sounds hard enough to even catch one.
  7. I've been there a few times in the last few months, and haven't got squat. The only thing I caught was a huge croc which got off the hook before I got him to shore. So I didn't even get a photo of it. No other bites or little fish either.
  8. What a catch!!!! Would have put up a good fight.
  9. If you search google you will find that it's a Gunther's wrasse. Quote" Gunther's Wrasse, Pseudolabrus guentheri Bleeker, 1862 Gunther's Wrasse is best recognised by the orange-brown lines on its head. It is commonly seen on coastal and estuarine reefs. "Unquote
  10. So true. They look so colourful. Did you notice the teeth on them to, looked so weird for such a pretty fish. What was the size if the one you caught? Mine was about 15cm - 18cm I'll try do a bit more research on it.
  11. I caught one of these about a week ago near Lilly Pilly just the other week, I knew it was a wrasse but not to sure what type. It'll be nice to find out what type of wrasse it is. Looked like it would be really pretty in an aquarium. Mine was released
  12. Sucks about the engine. But it's good to see a nice catch in the bay!
  13. Hey Everyone. For the first time and defiantly not the last I was able to go a game fishing charter. Me and my friends on a great day of fun, and sea sickness, hehe We started the day out by heading to Browns. It was a little rough for my taste so I was the first to get sick. We dropped in and pulled up the head of a big gem fish. As it got right to the surface we saw a 2 meter mako come up and hit it. We managed to get the head in the boat and then throw out a shark line. Took less then a minute to hook the shark. Then the fight was on. It just kept taking line. After about 20 minutes we managed to get it right to the boat before it threw the hook. Saved us having to get to close to it but we missed out on some good photos. After a while we managed to bag a total of 6 gem fish, mine measuring 105cm and weighed about 6-7kgs. During which we lost at least 6 more to sharks. Either by pulling in just a head or by pulling in cut line. Afterwards we went to the tuna grounds and left a nice pilly trail. We did see some action in the water but nothing was touching our lines. All in all it was a great day and we had a blast.
  14. Congratulations Roberta!! That was one awesome fish!!
  15. So how long will it take them to pull out a Tuna that's glowing??
