  1. Never ceases to amaze me how regularly that boxed Californian Squid produces Jew. I always have some as back up to freshly caught bait and it regularly lands fish.
  2. Can usually get them in the harbour around the commercial fishing boats. If you're after squid, again try the harbour but off the breakwalls and just inside the entrance to the harbour.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has been struggling too.

Has anyone fished the Clyde recently? Just after some info to see how it's fished after the recent rain. Cheers
  5. Was a snelled 2 hook rig. Sand on the mouth, hence it looking like it had been grabbed there.
  6. More so the tide change after dark associated with the current moon phase I find.
  7. Hit a local Wollongong beach on Saturday night to chase some Jew. Fished the hour before and after the high tide in a nice gutter. Beached this little fella just after the top of the tide on a fresh slimey fillet. Not a monster at 75cm but my first for the year. Poor bugger had tangled with something bigger, you'll notice the chunk missing behind the dorsal fin.Nothing doing apart from this with my bigger baits being picked apart.
  8. Don't have any marks mate but we fished the 60m line straight out from the harbour and kept moving up and down the coast in around that depth.
  9. Had a recent trip to Lake Tabourie with the plan to fish the lake for Flatties and Whiting. Having never fished the area we took a variety of gear and it was a good thing we did. Didn't end up fishing the lake at all but rather land based off Crampton Island and the reefs off Ulladulla. Was a fun trip and most of this was due to the fact we just turned up and set about discovering the local spots ourselves with little reserach and just giving it a go. Will definately be back there at some stage as there is a huge variety of species to chase in a range of locations. Attached are a few pics of our better catches. The island in particular is a great place to fish with numerous species caught.
  10. Yeah it can be tough at times. They were caught on pillies.
  11. Cheers lads. Just out of interest it went 87cm and weighed around 7kg.
  12. Do commercial fishos have different size limits to rec fishos? I noticed 3 well undersize Jewies at a local fish shop today. Would have only been around 50-55cm.
  13. Spent 3 days on the Clyde River last weekend. Did the usual houseboat trip however didn't have another boat tied up to it like usual which adds some flexibility. Fishing was fairly tough going. Managed a few Bream and a thumping Trevally on the Friday, all falling to Prawns. An hour after the tide turned after dark I managed a nice healthy Jew taken on a fresh slab of Mullet. It gave me a bit of curry on the 12lb set-up but I was able to subdue it and after a pic it was released. I've attached a pic below. Not sure why but the pic loads sideways. Saturday was terrible with nothing landed despite trying numerous spots. Sunday was better with some nice Flathead around the 40-50cm mark which were kept for a feed. Again about and hour after the tide turned after dark 2 rods got absolutley belted, the first i'm sure was a big Jew as there were the unmistakeable big head shakes and 2 very distinct runs. Unfortuantely it was too much for the smaller set-up and it couldn't be slowed. The second I assume was a big ray as it just hit ans ran and didn't look like slowing. Good weekend and I recommend the Houseboat to use as a home base for an assault on the Jewies on the Clyde.
