  1. New Alvey 650C5 and 9kg IGFA line to match! Plus new Okuma spinning reel and graphite rod for chucking around SP's, and some ca$h for my charter early next year for Kingis and Dollies out of Port Kembla OH!..n and a new subscription to Fishing World magazine- WOO-HOO!!!
  2. Thats insane... Great catch of Kingies mate
  3. Cheers Scotty, thats good advice. Just what I was looking for was something that comes in a 1km spool size and not just a single 300m or 500m spool. Thx mate, appreciate it!
  4. Hey Mate, I reckon you can look at the following rods: 1. Wilson Live Fibre in a 10-12' and 8-12kg 2. Silstar Crystal Powertip 10-12' in a 8-12g or a 10-15kg 3. Shakespear Ugly Stik 10-12' in a 5-8kg, 8-12kg or even a 10-15kg. You want something with a medium taper and plenty of bottom end grunt, get one with an integrated tip (Ugly Stik and Silstar are both integrated tips). I got also a Shimano Beast Master 5-8kg and it rocks off the stones and beaches, and I also use it live baiting for Jewies off the wharves locally on Parra and Lane Cove Rivers- has never let me down great rod but I still prefer my Silstar and Ugly Stiks any day but they are all overhead rods not intended for spinning with eggbeaters FYI- Make sure the reel mount isnt too high and mayeb take the reel you ant to use and fit it to a few rods to try them out for balance. Good luck!
  5. Ladies and Gents, my Mum has bought me a new Alvey 650C5 for X-Mas and I am wanting to know what is a good mono line to put onto it I will be using it from the stones chasing Kingies, Drummer, Sambo's and Trevs, aswell as chasing Jewies and Taylor from the sand. It will also be used as a long range live baiting reel for fishing in the rivers and off my local wharves on the Parra and Lane Cove Rivers. Am looking at 20-30lb mono and has to be a 600+ spool Anyone got any suggestions for which line I should be using??? NOTE- I use platypus and Daiwa Sealine on my spin and Overheads but am thinking I need to get a minimum 600m spool to fill her up and these just dont come in 600m spools that I have been able to find. Assistance apprecaited muchly.
  6. I know where I'd rather be ... I got an Xmas party tonight and again Friday night for my fisho buddies, + its my work Xmas party same night... Decided am going to hang with my buddies and talk fishing instead of going on a harbour cruise wishin I could lob my TLD25 with a live squid out the back for a slow troll, lol roflroflrofl
  7. Thats Gold Roberta! All my favourite Xmas days were all from whe I was a kid staying up @ Harrington. The day started with brekkie and a few tunes on the CD player, while opening pressies. Get lunch packed ready and head to the beach (armed with worming pliers for beach worms, spade for pippies, + my trusty surfboard and my Dad's old 14' beach rod and Alvey Sidecast reel). Get to the beach, unpack lunch and head out for a surf. After surfing for an hour or so crack open a beer and eat lunch, then go and harrass the Beach Inspector (who we were friends with for many years and still to this day stil contact). After lunch scout around for some Beach Worms, then lazily thread them onto the hook and cast out to past the breakers. Wait until just before dark then go home and have a BBQ made of fish caught that day, fresh prawns from the Co-Op @ Crowdy Head and fresh shcked Oysters from the Manning River). Head down the Harrington Pub for more beers and socialize with the locals who we all knew also. Have more beer upon return and Bob's your uncle Thses days its more like this: Get up and make kids brekkie, start cracking open beer after brekkie Go for a dip in my In-Law's pool, then get out th seafood for lunch (Oysters, Prawns) Get the rest of lunch ready (Ham, rolls, salads) Get dips ready and crack into them with crackers. Have more beer, then open pressies after lunch Make a few phone calls to other family members and then go for another dip in the pool Get dinner ready for BBQ and any left overs from lunch Then if not too hammered go and dangle a line @ my local spot in Gladesville until midnight-ish go home and drink more beer than pass out. I hope this year I can go to the beach for the first time in 20 years on Xmas Day Hope you all enjoy your Xmas festivitie- thinking of festivities I have my works Xmas party on tonight, then another Xmas party with my Fisho mates Friday night. Going to be a cracking summer of food, fishing and beer (and working lol)

  12. OH! WAY too much fun kingies on the troll and jigging. BUT- I still reckon we shoulda gone the Flattie Grounds, one guy running another charter bagged 60 in under 3 hours then went home, lol But hey, got to blood the TLD for the first time, got a stonker Morwong (42cm) and had a ball doing so. We should book pretty soon if you wanna go either mid-week, but am organising another charter for the first weekend in Feb for my B'Day out off Shoalhaven Heads. Chat soon mate- thx for the replies lads, much appreciated
  13. Finally the piccies... enjoy ladies and gents And the last few...
  14. Mission Accomplished! Me and my mates went on a charter today off Port Kembla. Fished a few reefs bottom bashing and got a nice mixed back of Mowies, Pigfish, Wrasse and sweep, aswell as the unfavourable Bakers (one of them was freakin HUGE!) and one Chinaman Leatherjacket. The biggest Mowie went 42cm and the other one went about 35cm. Didnt measure the pigfish but we got 4 in total, think we boated 6 or more sweep but only kept 2, Zac got a nice Wrasse. It was pretty tough going for the first few reefs until we went deeper out to 100m+ that we started geting into slightly better and more regular fish. After about lunchtime we trolled around the islands and we trolled up some rats, at one stage we had a trriple hookup on them ranging from 55-60cm. We found a patch of them and jigged a few times. Ed got a nice Bonnie on a christmas tree and after I swapped over to one myself I never went back to HB's ... lol Eddie got the only keeper Kingie jigging (65 on the nose ...), Zac got into a couple, I got 3 on the new TLD25. Had some fun jigging and trolling Rats. Went back to the ramp @ 1:30pm and cleaned the fish. Realized I left scaler and knife @ home so had to share a knife to scale and gut the catch In all we took home 20+ fish and threw a few back in the drink, and used some as fresh slabs. Sorry lads laptop @ work no piccies yet, will post Monday morning I promise.
