  1. Not knowing the area, i'm going to take your advice on board and launch from Tunks instead. Thanks for the tip.
  2. Thanks for the replies guys. Sounds like Bantry and Sugarloaf is where the action is. Don't really want to venture too far away from the boat ramp this time around, maybe on the next trip we'll launch from Tunks and venture out east from there. Small steps
  3. I was thinking about taking a few mates kayak fishing for kingies in upper Middle Harbour a couple of weeks from now, this will be the first time any of us have been been in that body of water, let alone having caught a kingfish before. Been doing a ton of reading on the subject but was also hoping to get your guys opinion on the upper areas. We're planning to launch at davidson park boat ramp and fish down stream as far as we're willing to paddle. Is this stretch of water too shallow for kings or will it be alright? Thanks in advance!
  4. Spot on that's the one at Quakers Hill. No worries you're most welcome, happy to help
  5. I love it. The seat is comfy and raised so you don't get a wet bum, it's stable, has enough room for me to store my stuff, it's got 5 rod holders (not that i need more than 1!), it's just an awesome kayak. I've used other more expensive kayaks before like the jackson coosa ($++) but I can't see the justification for the price. Anyways don't expect a fancy showroom, their sydney warehouse is just some dude's garage that's stacked to the ceiling high with kayaks. I'm guessing that's how they can offer them cheaper by saving on rent and that's fine with me! They were friendly and very accomodating with me picking up my kayak after hours (even at 7pm) cos i get home late from work. Very happy p.s....there forever seems to be a sale on the website which ends and starts again. Wait till it's $459 instead of $659.
  6. I just got my nextgen 9 from kayaks2fish and took it out on the nepean/hawksbury. It's a single seater which i picked up for $459. Really good deal. A buddy of mine got his 2 seater from kayaks2fish too some time back and has had no complaints. It's a really good way to get into kayak fishing to see if you like it before you splurge on a hobie (if ever).
  7. I used them on the weekend and I have to say bassboy is right, the blades on the TT's spin far more easily than the kingspins. Another thing I noticed is that the kingspins seem to get tangled in the line quite frequently (1 in 4 casts), whereas the TT's hardly ever got tangled. Think i'll be getting the TT's from now on
  8. That's the first place I looked
  9. Yeah it is.....I live in the mountains and am planning a kayak fishing trip with friends on the Nepean. So somewhere around the Penrith area would be ideal
  10. haha thanks for the offer, though i'm looking for a place that'll hire out 4 kayaks at once
  11. Hi all, Does anyone know any Kayak hire places around Penrith? So far i've managed to find the people at the regatta centre (horizonline), and the camping store named after a large snake. Anyone know anywhere else that has kayak rental? Thanks
  12. I picked up one of these today as they were only $10 compared to all the other brands which were around $15+. Has anyone used them before? If not then I guess i'll find out next week when I head out on the water, just wanted to see what people thought of them before I had the opportunity to try them.
  13. They must be ordering them direct from overseas instead of local distributors (that itself is saying something about the price of tackle in australia, but that's another discussion!). The Zeric combo shows up on the US site...but not on the Australian site....in fact the Australian site doesn't have combos at all.
  14. I am shopping around for a new rod and reel combo at the moment and was set on the Catana rod and Sienna reel. But when I called the local australian bass angler in penrith, he threw me a curveball and mentioned the Shimano Zeric combo. Is this new? I can't seem to dig up many reviews on the zeric combo, let alone how they perform. Does anyone know anything about them?
