  6. Hi Raiders Longtime reader first time poster. My best friend and I decided to hit the might Hawkesbury Saturday afternoon for an all-night session on our tinny. We launched at Apple Tree bay around 7pm. Our first goal was to load up on inkers. We managed to catch a half dozen Arrow's (Mulloway Money as our mentor from Secret Sliver would say) and a small cuttlefish (good bait size). Around 10 PM we headed for Waratah bay where eight boats greeted us (not too busy), so we anchored. After about 30 minutes of frustration we gave up as there were two boats at the Northern side who were very loud, making jokes, laughing and playing music. Next spot Smith's Creek (our new HOTSPOT). After intense fishfinder scrutiny we anchored up again. It was pitch dark and dead quite just as we like it. Out went the first two rods loaded with live squid, rigged with sliding 6/0 hooks below a small sliding sinker. As this was a new spot we didn’t know what to expect and hoped for the best. It wasn’t long before fishing was not the only thing on our minds, survival became the topic of discussion. It was very, very cold to use acceptable language suited for this forum. Luckily I was accompanied by a real fishing / outdoor veteran who recommend packing a warm water bottle. He swiftly setup a compact gas stove, scooped some Hawkesbury drink into a small camping pot/kettle and in no time we were both toasty embracing our warm water bottles. With lingering thoughts of Waratah bay and big Hairtail we dropped to two more lines with hole Pilli on a specially modified squid jig. Specially modified as the blank squid jig (just the shaft and hooks) is professionally attached with wire trace to a gang hook. Ensuring we don’t lose out on any potential inkers who might show interest in a whole Pilly although we remain ever so ready for any curious Hairtail. It wasn’t long ZZZZZZzzzzzzz….!!!!! and we were on to a good fish. Yip, a very welcome school Jew at 52 cm. We were both stoked “where there’s small Jews there are be big Jews” Ok, ok, not quite but that’s what we hoped for anyway . As the night progressed we had a number of peculiar strikes, a very hard hit followed by 30 minutes of nothing. Maybe some Tailor for whom our hooks might have been just too big. We pushed on till around 4:30 AM landing a snapper just under size as well as plenty of Yakkers the size of small Bonito’s (they were huge fought a like). Then the party started….an hour before low tide. ZZZZzzzzzz…echoed the sound dreams are made of and we were on to another Jew 49 cm and another and another. 9 AM Sunday morning and we have missed some good strikes, pulled some bait from fishes mouths, although landed in total 6 Jewies of which we kept the biggest 3 all above 50 but under 55 cm. The other three where properly revived and release swimming away to be caught again when they’re bigger. It was at this time that mister Leather Jacket and friends arrived, it was time to go.!! All and all a good session and a great new spot discovery thanks to the two loud boats in Waratah bay. Sorry no pic’s this time as we left the phones in the car for the night.
  7. Greate report mate. Thanks for sharing in so much detail. I'm following your posts weekly and have learned a lot. Hopefully i will have something to share soon when all your good tips pay off.
  8. Hi Mates I'm a newby to this forum fresh of the plane from OC California. I'm an Ex South African and a keen fisherman. Well done Norm and Micka on some nice Kings in the deep wate. For those of you that want to try the shallower areas this weekend, Pittwater was a good spot last weekend around 8:30 AM.
