Didn't see you out there 'raider. I fished Browns yesterday too Blue-eye cod caught. No sharks presented themselves. 13/0 tuna circle hooks on padenoster rig. 1lb sinker. Little or no current. Light easterly wind early changing to late NW breeze. No swell. No sea early. Late afternoon chop with NW wind. Fantasic day at sea. The run down the harbour was a sight to be believed. No ferries, no wind, no chop. Flatest I've ever seen it. Reminded me of a swiming pool with no-one in it. Plenty of live bait at the Quarantine Wreck also heaps of fingling slimeys at the 13km mark. Lots of dolphins and birds in the same area on the way home. Wazza

I find that hard to believe because 14 were where we left them. One was in a new location 500 metres away and on the opposite side of the river and 5 were missing altogether. However, I agree that everyone on the river may not be fishing or crab stealing. It has been said "They are more likely to steal your crabs rather than your traps". That's what I thought initially. But on reflection don't you think it is easier and quicker to lift a trap, check it out and drop it if empty BUT if it has crabs, just keep it and sort the spoils elsewhere. This makes more sense to me.

Anyone been crabing on the Hawkesbury lately? Set out early yesterday morning. Launched the boat and set the traps [HN]. Everthing was looking good. Wind was right, tide was right, crew was right and the sunrise on the Hawkesbury a sight to behold. Even read the article in Fishraider to make sure this time we would be on the money. Then headed off for a bit of action outside. Live bait was hard to come by. I'm sure the Flint & Steel parking lot has a lot to do with it. Dozens of berley trails making their way to sea on the out-going tide must have the bait fish off the usual marks to attend the feast. Only landed one yakka off West Head then headed to the Valiant Wreck. Passed over a huge bait ball on the way, so out went the yakka. Within five minutes the reason for the baitball became obvious. I had a four foot mako on the line. Great fight. Thought I had a kingy until I saw the dorsal fin. Landed the critter without incident and continued to the Valiant. Well guess what! We found the bait fish. There were more slimeys and yakkas here than I would have thought possible. Filled the bait tank in no time flat. Our hopes were raised and we thought we were in for a great morning. Sad to say that was it. Not another fish landed. Not to worry fresh crab and mako will go down well back at the local with a few cold ones. Heading back inside our excitement was building. How many crabs will be waiting to be rescued? Well let's cut to the chase and the title of this thread. Some Hawkesbury Lowlife has stolen five of our hats. Of the others not a single crab. One might speculate that there were no crabs in the first place, but when you find one of your hats 500 metres from where you set it and on the other side of the river, WELL? Were the others raided? Did the stolen pots have crabs? We will never know. So how do we stop this kind of behaviour? Boat rego number on the float? I can't wait to get my hands on a Hawkesbury Lowlife!!!! Wazza

I knew the folks that had the house. Gay & Alan Neuman. Built the house and moved from Nyngan. Definitely one of the first on the estate. Really keen golfers and did a lot for the Wyong Golf Club. Both should be life members; even though deceased with no kids, they are WWII war veterans; Alan a Japanese POW and Gay an Army nurse. Lest we forget Warren

Ah yes the "free flying shark" how esle can they celebrate a good days fishing. Free food on the platter and not being caught. Maybe we should invite the Navy out to Brown's with some percussion grenades and give the Noahs a headache or two????????????? Waz

Fished Browns again yesterday with Rads and Sparky. Lost at least five good fish to sharks. Landed one small blue eye, one reasonable specimen and almost bagged out on gemfish. Managed to see the critter taking the spoils. A bronze whaler about 5 foot long came up along side after gourging himself on another good size gemfish. Current wasn't too bad but the wind did pick up during the day. Still a good day to be able to get out on the water There should be plenty of records broken during the Mako tournament especially if fishing for them at Browns Wazza

I don't know how Bull Sharks breed but WE all know they are in that area. Could it be a fingling little bliter on the loose? BTW mack attack 79 Any chance of you changing to a smaller font and saving the fluro for your braid to protect us PILCHARDS from eye damage??? Wazza

Fished Browns last Friday 27/7 with Rads and Sparky. Someone had certainly stirred up the Makos. Can't remember how many fish were lost to the sharks but we were still able to bag out on gems. Two small blue eye rounded off the day. Great effort considering a 30 knot southerly was blowing. At least the northerly current helped us stay on the mark. Can't thank Andrew from Downrigger.com enough for the electric reel and advice. Saved the day and christened the gear. Should have been there for the SBT 'Tuffy' but had a prior commitment you lucky bastard! Thanks Rads for the tuna basket, it didn't go to waste !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Wazza

My first post on the forum. Fished Brown's with 'rads' yesterday [1/6/2012]. Great day, great weather, no current, no swell and NO FISH. Some excitement though when the electric reel snapped the boat rod it was fitted on. Looking forward to the next trip with a new rod. Wazza
