  1. I think it was some treated pine the old man had lying around the shed Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. Could have but wanted the attachable option. There's guide screws in place going strait into holes that were from a D-ring each side I wasn't using Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. Thanks for the tip Chewie. These ones are stainless steel, as with all the fittings. But some landyards will come in very handy when I'm confident enough for se more open water. Gatts Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. G'day raiders, Just at my folks place for a catch up and to pick my old mans brain about about the best method and way to install a sounder in a kayak. After establishing an idea of what we wanted it was off to work on the construction. A little later we have a result. I'm pretty dam impressed with it too! One more thing to add, two clips for my paddle either side for quick and safe storage while fishing. Hardware shop did not have the right size clips to complete the job Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Pretty happy with the result. Now to get the fish biting Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I get my yak back from Sydney this weekend. Not sure what the plans are ar this stage for my fishing action over the weekend but will definately be aiming to get it In the water and test out the new sounder. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. G'day Yakfisher, Would be keen as to join you tomorrow but my yak is currently getting a sounder installed at the folks place down in Sydney. I'm probably going to throw some live mullet into pearl beach though. Hope to see some good reports from you from your session in the creek. Will definitely be ken for the next trip though. 8. I tried inverting the ends too gazza, couldn't get it to stay firm or get enough mullet near it. This one was real easy... Put a hole in the centre and basically cut an "X" push the sides down a bit and go for it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Tried the beach, had to help out with the little one at home and it'sich closer. Unfortunately Jo luck, was hard to find the deep water, someone already fishing in the best rip visible on the beach. Not to worry, know how to get em and got a nice 15cm variety to butterfly and drop into a bridge over the weekend. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Fingers crossed. Gonna try a 5 or 6/0 circle hook. Better through the nose or the back? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Breaking my heart scratchie. Was hoping they were ideal for a nice Jewie or something, but I would never say no to a feed of flathead. That wind is going to be a problem. I'm just battling with myself as to whether I want to drown then in the surf or stay up another 3 hours to catch an estuary tide Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. G'day raiders After a few nights down in the lake looking for prawns of credible size I notice hundreds of little mullet feeding I'm the shallows. After a small bit of research I crafted myself this little trap Super easy to make, and it took a bit of trial and error before in different depths and spots finally filled it with a slice or two of bread, bury into the sand to anchor in place, ankle deep in water, burley up stream, turn out the lights and wait. Even went home to grab the bucket I forgot. The result was impressive. 13 baits sized mullet inside a 2 litre bottle in The space of 10 minutes. Took a snap and let the suckers free, only to be caught again tonight and thrown out live In the surf under a beaming full moon...practice run on the trap which proved to be success. Stay tuned for round two tonight, which will have some big surf specimen to report about Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Thanks mate, Will give it a go. Unfortunately tied the slim beauty and spooled already ... Gotta reverse it now haha Seemed alright in the surf yesterday but didn't get a fish to really test it out at all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  14. Bummer, any thoughts on the one I went with? Skim beauty? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Thanks guys, More good suggestions there. The blood knot diagram is similar to the slim beauty I used above, double overhead and 7 loops up and back the line. Would imagine they'd both be pretty strong. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
