  1. Hi lads , Just what to see if any are around at the moment. I know the seas have been up but I'm hoping that someone has braved it in a bigger boat. I just hope they haven't gone past sydney yet without anybody even knowing about it. Thanks.
  2. I was out on Monday last week. We had fresh southern calamari for bait and we got nuthin. Current was going up hill at 1.5/1.9 knots water was shit but temp was at 24 and heaps of bait around. Don't waste your fuel n. time until the current runs down hill again. Big eddy is stuffing up the blue water of sydney for us again.
  3. Ha ha that's a rude head. Only a mother or a fisho would love.
  4. Nice work mate. That reminds me of my little bloke when he was 3. He's 6 now and a pro on the plastics. I will have to take my 3 yo girl out soon. Good pics
  5. Nice king. The setup is spot on in my book. You can even have your hands full with 80 pound when there is structure around. Pike is a very good live bait for kings.
  6. That's a stonka well done. The v wall is a gr8t spot to fish. And the beer is good there to. Haha.
  7. Well done mate. I love that place good to see the trout are still around.
  8. Hi, lads Whent over to little Manley at 500am to try and get some squid baits for a king fish sesh on the weekend . It was very slow going on the squid front with only small ones just following my jig. Managed to get 2 at around 150mm so I decided to use one rite there and then .just for a bit of fun b4 work. Problem was that I only had a 1/3kg raider rod with 4 lb line and 4 lb leader. Lobed out the squid and within 10seconds it got hit line was poring of my poor little reel and All I was able to do was have a laugh at what was going on. then my line got rubbed on the reef and it was all over as quick as it started . Why can you always seem to get a kingy on a small rod but when you use the 30/50 lb gear its so hard? They must know. Anyway left around 630 am to make it to site on time and was stoked with my king on squid gear smoking . Can't wait to get revenge with my new saltist 6500.
  9. It's sad but so so true. My wife's olds live not far from there and we visit quite often over different times over the year .and at xmass time you can't get near the north east entrance area it's packed out . This is totally fine but people need to PIC UP THERE RUBBISH. And look after there country . It's so sad to see such a nice place stuffed by rubbish. And such a good place for little ones to catch a fish. Shame to see it stuffed at xmass......
  10. Well done . People will go there hole life and not even get close to a flatty like those. And you smashed it in a day.
  11. Good work. That's a mother. All you need is 5 kg salt 5kg pepper.
  12. Heaps of Jew in middle harbor ATM . It's grate to c you catch it with your young blokes . Makes it very special.
  13. If you are going to flick try around lagoon st side. I have had plenty of fun there.you will need a pair off waders to . Try along the flats that run back west where it drops away on an out going tide you will most times get a few flattys Good luck,
  14. Hey I fish the lake as much as I can. And lately it's been very slow. Last few times I haven't even caut a fish. I use plastics in and around the flats. It will hot up in the next few months.do you use bait or lures? I can give you plenty off pointers on plastics just not baits. Good luck any way.
  15. Hi lads , Just want to know witch to get Daiwa freams in 4000 Daiwa balistic in the 4000 I have been looking at both and just want to get an opinion I will be using it for snapper and small kings. Thanks.
  16. It's great to see people power has won. I just hope it keeps winning.
  17. Hi lads I have fished the dam about 10 times now with fly and lures . It is good most times but the fish are not big at all . Red fin and bass are what I would be targeting now with lures . The fish seem to be around 10cm to 25cm . Not big but still good to be able To get bass in the middle of Sydney and there is always the chance to tangle with the big one . Plenty of land base options and you can put a small tinny in the dam to but it's worth walking around the dam anyway just to enjoy the place. Good luck.
  18. Hi mate, Good on you for getting a fly rod. It's the best and most fun way to get just about every fish that swims . I have only been using my fly rods for around 4 years and 90percent in the salt. The best flys to use are 1 crazy Charley's in silver/pink.and any thing with pola flash in it. The brim love it 2. Closers in all sizes or as big as you and your rod will Handel . Reds pinks whites flattys love em. 3. Any good prawn patterns you can get . Pro angler in parramatta have the best range and the price of all there gear is very good. Locations. I find any where in narrabeen is a great start . It's got good amounts of flats and weed. If the current is running to hard go to the western end. You will prob get flattys first up but I have got very good bream whiting and Taylor and even a trev. Pitt water is good to if you are lucky you mite get kings on small white patterns. Good luck .
  19. Sorry about the 2 blank posts guys. Still learning . Hi rob. To answer your question the only thing that I would put in at longy ramp is a kayak. It's just all to hard.
  20. Hit long reef in my mates boat on Monday. We put in at collaroy ramp witch was at low tide. and at 5am still very dark. It was our first time at this ramp. We got the boat in but it wasn't fun at all. Won't be going there again. We went to the wall first up and was happy to see big schools off Bonny's busting up so out go the halco twistys. First cast and I hook up to one get it in and my mates on. He gets a good size Bonny at around 75 mark . We keep at it and see kings mixed in the school . Next thing we are onto kings. Only rats but good fun. We land a couple and then Start to send out berley trail. Not a lot happend with that but then we see the kings busting up again. So we cast out some 10gram twistys again and get totally smoked . This school had much bigger kings in it. With a 4/7kg out fit and only in 18/20m off water it was never going to end well. It's good to get smashed now and then. Makes you remember how hard they go. All the schools where very very easily spooked . So it was a case off using lite gear and getting off a long cast and then Getting smacked on the reef. Or getting in close with the 30/50 pound spin gear and spooking the hole school because they Where zoned in on very small white bait even the splash off a 7 inch jerk shad would make them spook. After such a great day we still had the problem off getting the boat back on the trailer. It was on our mind all day. It was low tide again and we knew it wasn't going to be fun as the wind was up a little now. But we got it back on after a few try's Can't wait for summer if winter already has kings busting up on top. It's Gunna be a good season.
  21. Thanks lads I will keep on it. Have to try up the back of the lake Nextime I'm out there.
  22. Over this winter I have been struggling to hook up to any good flattys in the lake at all. I have always done very well in winter in past years just using s.p and on fly when the current isn't running to hard. I would just like to know if I'm loosing it or is the lake just getting harder to fish.? My first post.
  23. They are very good for Sydney reds. Well done.
