  1. Mate you can do a lot worse than the humble Albie their about the best for trying some new recipes on.
  2. North is your best option if you can make it to Norah canyons, possibly with the help of a couple of plastic 25ltr Jerry cans. That's what I use for safety. That is the only place I'd consider in your circumstances. Plenty deep and good currents just give it another week or two and you will have a chance. It's still a long trip so plan ahead. Pat.
  3. Copy that finin. Fish arnt here yet and it's been my experience so far that it ain't worth going off Sydney till the first frost of winter. As yet we haven't come close. Give it 2 weeks and you'll have something in return for your fuel bills. IMO of course. Mate of mine living in Ulladulla has had 3 jelly beans to 8kg and worked hard all week with only reports a few blues caught from a long liner mate of his over 60 Nmile the yft normally turn up a few weeks after the bft but the drawn out warm spell has got it ass about for now. He swares by the fish hitting Ulludulla at the first snow fall at Jindabyne thats his marker for his area that it's cold enough. Just a little quirky food for thought.
  4. Took off Sat lunch time to put the boat in at Brooklyn, find a nice little beach to anchor up and let the kids loose on the sand. After exhausting themselves we cooked a bbq cleaned up and hit the sack in anticipation of a good day ahead. Got up with the sparrows and sea eagles, had a quick feed and outside we go with a couple of hard bodies following past west head and round barrenjoey then out go the skirts. We trawled ESE to do a basic triangle towards Sydney. We hit about 9mile and outside long starts a tickle so I slow the boat and decided to reel this one in for the best chance of showing the kids their first Dolly. 57 she goes, a kiss and off like a brides nighty. 12 mile same lure and 8 year old daughters turn she made dad proud and got it boat side with a grin from ear to ear. Over the side for the pickies and this one goes 61, back in the drink couse it was too pretty apparently! Do a hard to starboard and head towards Sydney, again same lure a 6 1/2 inch black betty gets munged down 6 year old son has ago and with leaving the rod in the gunnel reeled in another dolly going 66. Home with dad this one went. Proud as punch and a couple of new companions I can count on that love it as much as me. Water temp outside was terrible at 21.4 but off manly beach got 22.8. Heard some beakie action south of us so with that sort of temp outside you fellas done well.
  5. Yep. Stripey. Going out tomorrow from broken bay north hopefully hit somethin on the head.
  6. The boy's must be well trained mate the only time I get asked to reel in a fish the kid's have hooked is when they can tell its a sergeant baker. Great fish there buddy. It sure is God's country I'll be up there looking for my first beaky in Feb. Can't wait.
  7. Well done guys. I was out with the birds just inside you guys about lunch time and had been following a great school of them since 8am running a 5spread without a strike. Called it a day when one of my TOP GUN fishing buddy's was throwing up an old boot he swallowed as a kid. I can't bring my self to even lough now knowing how close I could have been to a day like yours. Congrats on such a fruit-full day....
  8. Mate did you only get the one hit for one fish and was it the x-rap or skirt that done the damage? Great job on the nomad trip.
  9. Good on you fellas. That's what it's all about. Fun fish and a feed. Well done. Hope a couple of those cracking squid went in the pan.
  10. Found heaps of bait last week but no keepers anywhere must have caught every rat in the sea. Thank God for good old bottom bashing 'cause I'd be a waffe by now. The strange current has made it impossible to "target" fish with regular success.
  11. Looks like a weather break early next week so Im heading outside Tue or Wed from pittwater and going north. Also forward predicted warm finger current off central coast to 20c mid next week but it's a very fine line so far. Will post if I find anything. Hardtop 660.
