My custom cover made from Sunbrella (or similar, can’t remember) material is about 6 years old. I’d give some thought about the future. Do you intend keeping for some time or upgrading to bigger 1. Two adults and one child will soon become three adults, and if that additional adult comes along that will be four adults. If you intend keeping for some time, I’d be looking at getting something now that accommodates three adults comfortably and the fourth adult would not make it to crowded. There are plenty of options out there for this scenario. Also consider a glass boat if you want the wife to be comfortable. Just my thoughts and opinion. Hope it all works out, you’ll love the boating experience

I second Noel’s comments, having owned a 4.75 V-Sea and now a 5 metre V-Sea. Excellent boat for what you want, and an outstanding sea boat for its size.

Totally agree Fab. Appears I don’t live to far from you. I sat in my boat for a couple of hours the other day. Cleaned a few things in, removed the radio aerial (both to be replaced). Just chilled in the boat and enjoyed my alone time. Can’t wait to hit the water again.

I’ve a 2000 model Johnson 115hp V4 Oceanpro (2nd owner). I have run 95 in this motor since I’ve had it and the original owner told me that he ran 95 in it since new. Neither him nor I have had any fuel related issues using this fuel. I can also say that since I’ve had the motor I have only used BP fuel, as I don’t go looking for somewhere to save a cent or two. The Evinrude site says use 87 or 89 octane fuel, but the USA fuel rating are taken from AKI which is the average of RON & MON indexes. Now getting technical, but the American 89 octane is, I think somewhere between Australian 95 & 91. So once again it’s your choice Use what you want but find one that you are happy with and stick to it. Same goes for oil, find a TC-W3 rated brand that you believe works for you and stick with it. It really is a personal choice and what works for and is readily available to you Good Luck

That possibly is correct, but the tilt trim on my Johnson 115 hp has lasted 20 years and there has never been a cents spent on it.

My Garmin GPS is brilliant. Also I have read other people’s view on Garmin GPS and they appear to be the better units for gps. Good luck

My current boat battery is nearly four years olds don’t appears to be going well. recently I had a starter battery problem with my Nissan Patrol. The battery was just over four years old. Unfortunately left the lights on. recharged then took for a sixty kilometre run. Stopped at a mates place for half an hour. When I went to start car it just didn’t sound right. went to battery specialist and discussed this with him. Then then checked volts and found that okay. He then used a special load tester, which I asked about before he started test. Explained that it will test load and cranking amps, which he stated was important. He then explained that my battery was a 720 cranking amp battery, and should show near to the 720 amp to be a good battery. He conducted the test and it showed only 210 cranking amps. Battery replaced. I know nothing about batteries, just relaying what I was told. Note ensure if what I was told was true,but he told me you could have good volts but be down on cranking amps, which are the important part. Others here will know more than me and may confirm or negate what I was told. One thing the battery bloke told me was, if the battery not being used regularly, I should at least monthly put into the charger or invest in a good solar trickle charger.

Just one question, do you know why the second battery (good condition) wouldn’t start the motor?

I have a tru-hull transducer on my fibreglass seafarer and it works amazingly well at speed. Good luck with your choice

A little off topic, but after posting earlier about the weight of my 2000 model V-Sea (650 kgs), I was wondering what the weight of a new Seafarer V-Sea is. To my astonishment, the new ones (from their website) is only 600 kgs. I wonder where they trimmed the 50 kgs. Interesting way to save money I suppose.

I’ve a 2000 model Seafarer V-Sea (5 metre) that I carry on a single axle braked trailer. My boat weighs (as per manufacturer) 650 kgs. So I would suggest any 5 metre glass boat + motor + trailer will definitely be over 750 kgs. To answer your question ‘Does that therefore make it illegal’ Answer = Yes (and as already stated, not covered by insurance if an accident were to occur). If your trailer is in okay condition you should be able to buy the parts and convert your trailer to a braked trailer. Good Luck
