  1. G'day science man, I went from a yammie 2 stroke to a mercury optimal to a yammie hpdi and now own a yammie 4 stroke 150. The 4 stroke is by far and away the quietest and cleanest engine I have ever owned and for that reason would never go back. Yes the opti and hpdi had more performance on my boat however nothing that noticeable. It is a no brainer to me and would only ever buy a 4 stroke from here in in. Originally when I went to the 4 stroke, I uses to try and turn the boat on thinking it was off because it was so quiet oly to realise it was on. It has never missed a beat and I've done. 2 seasons with it and approximately 250 hours and couldn't be happier. Any questions, feel free to ask.
  2. Mate I've owned a Daiwa Saltiga surf for years now mated to the matching rod and it's light weight and versatile. You ever thought of that reel? Pretty well priced these days as its getting on now
  3. G'day mate I have a Saltiga 2 speed owned it for well over 2 years now and have never used the low gear. I use it for trollIng for kingies and down rigging for them. It's not a reel I'd ever intentionally use for marlin as it isn't holding that much line. For that I use both penn internationals and shimano tiagras. It is however a great reel Hope this helps
  4. G'day mate, I've been fishing the little beach next to the marina on NSHR the one just under the police station with gulp worms and have been getting legal flathead and a few undersized whiting. It drops off really well a d the flathead just sit on the drop off. I find this spot more productive than the spots you have been fishing.

G'day mate check out the troll pro. Best housing for a go pro for trolling I've ever seen delivered for $160 from the states inc shipping.
  6. Mate depending on the way you want to mount them there are plenty of different options. The last 2 boats I have had, I have used taco grand slam out riggers. They ha e worked really well for me. Once on a 30ft boat and now on a 21ft cc. Can't fault them. Its pretty hard to go wrong. A few years back I Also mounted a set of gunnel mounted riggers on another boat I owned and they were super easy to use and faultless . Sometimes the simpler the better. Also prices can vary from $350 for a set to well over $4000 if money is a factor that will most probably govern your choice. Let us know what you choose.
  7. G'day mate, I fish a Miya epoch 8 and used to use 150lb no issues then I've spent a little extra and purchased the Miya epoch matched braid 100lb i fit nearly 1100 metres and have never had a problem with downgrading the line. 80lb should be fine e those reels mate. Let us know how it goes
  8. They are built for using mono buddy 50 lb is what most people use, if you were to use braid you would probably get 2-3kms on it. Let us know how you go with the braid I've never heard if it before but anything is possible.
  9. Good work mate looks like a good fish. Keep it up and thanks for letting us all know where u caught it from
