  1. yep, happens all the time, good to have a net close by!!
  2. im heading up first weekend of April (staying at little beach), any good land based spots around?
  3. I fish Narrabeen quite often and its always a hit or miss I always use a patonoster with a heavy star sinker at bottom so it bites the sand
  4. I call this the mother in law fish ----- Just cook one up and serve it to her dont remind her about the bones
  5. Have not had a beach fish for a while - cant wait for the whiting to be back on!
  6. Hello fellow Raiders, Very seldom that I post but could not resist after this catch. Was a terrible start to the day - loaded boat and got on road at about 8.30am to arrive at Brooklyn to find the Bridge to Bridge boats loading. Head to Moony Moony boat ramp to find the water police, Marine rescue and ambulance working on the girl that sadly is now in a critical condition. We then set out to central coast (brisbane waters?) After finally getting the boat in the water by 10.45 we set out just around the main bay trying to find a spot that looked fishy - got the rods set up as follows; Shimano 1-2kg matched with a stella 1000 - 4 pound main 8 pound leader, 3/8 jig head with a 5" Jerk shad in Nuclea Chicken and a 2-4kg (same rod/2000 reel) with a squid jig. Tossed around for about 2hrs with a couple of hits and nothing in the net - got snagged a few times as the area is very weady - spotted a few squid but could not land any. Got snagged - re rigged and first cast the jig hits the water let it drop, get a drink and give the rod a flick, abd stuck......%#$& snagged on first cast - give it a bit of a wind and it comes loose - thank god - zzzzzzzzzzzz the reel sceams, head slight shake and zzzzzzz, yell to my brother - i think im actually on after a 5 min battle and about 3 decent runs we see colour and its a massive lizard try and turn him to place in net and it takes 1 final run - finally get her back close, scoop her just into the net as she didnt really fit, she is in the boat and high fives all around. My PB flatty previous to this was 48cm (and close to my biggest ever fish) and she rolled up @ (estimate as longer than ruler) 72cm..... a fish of a lifetime for someone like me that never lands anything big! Still have adrenaline running though me and cant wait to get back out there and hopefully have another write up soon!! A few snaps and back she goes to make babies Would like to enter this into catch of the month!
  7. was there with the family - went fishing with just the old man TBH i prob wont be going back there.....i didnt enjoy it as much as say Fiji/Bali etc
  8. I was there last 3rd - 12th - done 2 trips was insane - 38 tunes, hooked (but dropped) a marlin - 2 dolphin fish (mahi Mahi) and a few little fellas when reef bashing! Will post pics later tonight
  9. Hey Guy's, Have not really post many write ups but after having such a great night out with the old man and it being boring at work on a monday thought why not! Checked the reports (weather, tide, swell etc) and decided Saturday afternoon into the night looked great for a beach fish. Called the boys and we ended up doing a father son beach fish trip all up their was 8 of us! Got to Narrabeen about 5.30 for the bottom of the tide and had all the lines in the water and first beer cracked at 6! The first 2 hrs seen numerous tangled lines, beers spilt, abuse at re rigging etc - a great start to the night! Soaked baits (pilly and squid) for around 2 hrs before the first rod buckled over, a nice 50 range (no measure) nice and fat Salmon. Wasn't much after 10 mins? the Second rod buckled over and went for a nice run, another fat salmon in the 50 range!! would have been around 30 mins later My father Rod buckled over, zzzzzzzzzzzzz stop buckled again zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz by the time my father and his bunged knees got there it was all over held the torch whilst he reeled in and bang my rod buckled over zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz the line just keeps peeling, lift the rod and snap it back to set the hook and Nothing biggest anti climax ever ha!! Still had my bait so threw it back out and zzzzzzzzzzzzzz i was straight on - not making the same mistake again i snapped the rod back and set the hooks clean - a few little runs and 5 mins later another nice Salmon up on the sand! this going the biggest by a head length (upper 50/low 60?) Was a great night out with all the old fellas and for once us young guys teaching the old guys a thing or 2!! Didnt get any pics as phone battery was dead
