  2. http://www.efishalbum.com/en/detail.asp?pid=79
  3. Good on you for lending a hand its times like that when things can go horribly wrong when others just walk on bye. Cant complain with that bag of flatties and a good day out on the water.
  4. Just thought i would post up my rig and an intro as i'm pretty sure its more than likely i will run into another Raider on the water at some point. After many many attempts to purchase a boat something would always come up and consume my boat funds 1. Engagement 2. Wedding 3. Mortgage 4. Child 1 5. Child 2 6. Child 3 etc..... This Christmas i was determined to get on the water but funds as per usual where required elsewhere (Childcare is simply criminal these days). So i looked into Kayak's as an alternate to a boat it simply makes sense t can get me out on the water where i need to be and has $0 upkeep. Not to mention its just so easy to pick it up strap it to the roof and off you go. I too a look down at my local BCF and saw 2 i was interested in 3 meter and 3.6 meter and from there hatched a plan to wait till boxing day sales and snap one up. To my surprise that night i received an email to say they went on sale at 50% off (It was just meat to be). Next morning i went down and grabbed my first Kayak, i went with the 3 meter simply due to weight and ease of carrying plus it has two 10 inch storage hatches where the 3.6 only had a hatch up front. I then waited for each item to go on sale and slowly bought each piece. I kitted it out including the Kayak for $570 (Without sale prices would have been about $1100) 1. Kayak $299 2. Seat $59 3. Paddle $42 4. Rod Holder $26 5. Life Jacket $38 6. Fish Esky $26 7. Paddle Leash $6 8. Net $25 9. Soft roof racks $55 Being my first time out on the water i figured i would stick to bright colours (Yellow) so other boats know where i am. I have taken the yellow beast out 3 times now and have been able to bring home a decent feed each trip where in the past i would be lucky to get a fish on each trip. Being able to go where i want and chase the fish rather than wait for them to come to me is just awesome. I went out today to Narrabeen Lakes, i live out at Castle Hill but the trip wasn't too bad 50 mins there and 50 mins back. I found it to be very weedy and shallow and i'm not used to fishing the shallows i normally fish the deeper waters in the Hawkesbury. I flicked a few soft plastics around without any success but was not surprised as i am new to the plastic scene and need some practice and a few tips on how to use them properly. I switched over to some fresh prawns and was getting hammed as soon as they hit the water by small bream and whiting. Ended up pulling in quite a few undersized bream and whiting. I kept at it and eventually pulled in a nice Pair of bream at the 30cm mark and a Long Tom that measured about 45cm (They really put up a good fight jumping out of the water etc). I have never caught a long tom before so checked my fish guide for size and limits to which there was no limit. I took a chance and kept the long tom to experiment if they are a good table fish or not. I made my trip home and cleaned and cooked all 3 fish to feed the tribe, I was super surprised at how nice the Long Tom was to eat. I wrapped it in foil with butter, garlic and all purpose seasoning popped it in the oven @220c for 20 mins. Its a super tasty fish if you can be bothered with all the fine bones and i will definitely be keeping good size ones i catch in the future. Needless to say i'm super excited to be out and about on the water and will try and get out at minimum every second weekend. So if you see the Yellow Beast out and about paddle over and say hi as i'm always open for some good tips and hints you guys can give or just another fellow fisher buddy for the day. Tight Lines
  5. Took the Yak out to Mooney Mooney today and encountered the same ugliness there also. When the wind kicked in at some points i was basically paddling for no gain and sitting in one spot. Good to hear you guys still got a good feed though.
  6. Dream trip right there and well done on some beastly catches. I don't think i could be any more jealous than i am right now
  7. Yeah sorry forgot to hit the upload option
  8. Hey All, Have been trolling the forums for years now and thought it about time i chime in with a fishing report. I have been a land based angler till recently i decided to buy myself a Yak from BCF (Couldn't say no to the 50% off price tag). Every now and then i would hire a tinny from Cottage point or Akuna bay but at $160 a pop it adds up. Anyway finally with my new Yak i have freedom to go out whenever i want without having to compete for turf on the Hawkesbury banks and wait for the fish to come to me. I have caught many good school and bull sharks form the Hawkesbury and decided to be a bit of a thrill seeker in my Yak and see if i could hook up and hitch a ride around with one on the weekend Saturday just gone 19th . Spend a few hours dangling a few ganged pillies out to entice in my free ride, Unfortunately i had no success with the sharks but did get an unexpected surprise none the less. I felt a slow pull on my rod and wasn't sure if i had just snagged but decided to pullback and set the hook just in case. WOW did it hook, whatever was on my line took off at the speed of light peeling off a good 15 meters of line off at a time and towing my Yak around like a toy boat. A short battle later i absolutely crapped myself when this lizard surfaced next to my Yak she was massive swimming alongside me. I lip gripped her and had a look and unfortunately she had swallowed all three gangs right into her belly. There was no way i could have let her go and she would have survived. I usually do not keep any big girls but in this case she would not have survived either way. As you can see in the photo my 160lb (Meant for sharks not lizards ha ha) leader was well and truly engulfed. She defiantly took my Yak for a trip so i'm thinking twice now about hooking up to a good size shark in it. Not to mention learning that whatever you land in the Yak you pretty much land on your lap (I have a few holes in my legs after some tail thrashing) Definitely the biggest lizard i have caught or seen and i'm stoked to have this up my sleeve as my PB lizard. Shame i didn't get to weigh her and let her go. Going to enter this girl into the catch of the month, lucky i had my GREEN hose out when i snapped the pic to qualify for this month. Cant wait to get out every weekend i can from now and post some more great reports and pics. Thanks All loving this community and excited to start posting
  9. May be fake braid. I fell victim to fake Power Pro off ebay. If its power pro your using a simple give away of a fake is on the back of the box. It says "mades" instead of "makes". I wont get into other signs unless you need them
  10. I ended up pairing it with a Pflueger Trion 3-6kg, and Spooled it with 20lb Power Pro.
  11. Thanks for the help guys it was a tough decision between the Stradic and the Caldia. I decided to go with the Caldia simply because I already use Daiwa gear and really trust them for quality. I ended up getting it for a steal of a price $255 which I'm very pleased with. Now I just need to grab some braid and a rod for it and I'm good to go.
  12. Would be happy to go overbudget a little if need be, as long as its justified for better quality etc.
  13. Hey guys, I am looking for some advice as to what the community would suggest as the best spin for under $300 . I have a Daiwa seagate overhead and Daiwa Tierra baitcaster already to cover soft plastics and live bait. I am wanting the spin as a multi purpose, plastics, jigs, lures and bait etc (Mostly bottom bashing baits in rivers). What do you guys suggest as the best all rounder for my price range? Ps. Love the site i am a long time reader but first time poster. ALOT of knowledge in these forums and would appreciate your support on this one.
