  1. Another thing you may want to think about when setting up your teasers is what you are going to tease with you favourite marlin lure with a massive cupped face may raise them but when your trying to wind it in as fast as you can it can cause a bit of an issue when it digs in hard : )
  2. sounds like a great trip mate well done... when you had the blue on dont be surprised if it was another fish striking the lure that had worked its way up the line as it has happened before. sounds like a good fish too.. incidently did u happen to keep that baby marlin and freeze it? julian pepperell and the gang would certainly be very interested in it if you have Col ------- CCGFC
  3. Kael, that is awesome mate! lee told me you got a nice one down there.. congrats on the fish it is an absolute horse. definetly a trophy fish great fish to break in the alphas too! Col
  4. not necessarily. pretty good way to have a plastic with a hidden weight system on a bigger and heavier level... im a fan of using those hidden weight jigheads specially when fishing boat hulls as they dont make as much osund if u accidently hit one and given alot of fish eat on the drop it makes them swim down nicely specially those banana prawn gulps! unfortunately if you want to use the hidden weights in bigger plastics or just use heavier weight you have to compromise as plastics are only so thin and wont handle some fat weight in there guts. certainly a good way to get ur jig head hidden using a slick rig and having a lighter head makes them sink a bit slower which gives it that tasty realistic action yum yum
  5. mate congrats on the fish. i have heard u can get bass on the coast but i havent had much luck good to see some real solid fish there. theres still hope! certainly worth the effort you have put in to find them. well done mate Col
  6. ill be there either on "The Force" or "shez cranky" bring it on!
  7. Hey Roberta, lots of flies will work on bream. small clousers, crazy charlies, baited breath, jelly prawns, small baitfish profiles like surf candys etc and even wooly buggers. all the above are a sinking fly, i normally use an intermediate line in the estuary unless im surface fishing. surface flys small poppers work a treat i have a couple of tiny crease flys that really work well. Flathead you cant go past the chartreuse and white clouser. bit of lead to get it down and to make it puff up a bit of sand. its a great change to get them on the fly. just watch those exxy lines round the racks. i mostly fish a 4wt for bream pending location! but flatties because i use heavier flys i use a 7/8 wt on a sinking line. Col
  8. have fun done there warnie... be meaning to get down for that one... was spose to fish last years but mate pulled out because of the ordinary weather. some reason bad weather goes hand in hand with that tournament. from reports down south should be a few 70kg + kegs like previous years. goodluck mate Col

    Sea Sickness

thats very interesting warnie! just goes to show that it can be something else that knocks you around... It also can be from the boats themselves... I dont get sea sick on trailer boats really anymore, its the different motion on big boats that affects me. it could be that im used to trailerboats as i did my first 4 years gamefishing in them and have only done the odd trip out on the bigger boats (more so now but they have been spread out and mostly tournaments, where as my trailer boat fishing was every weekend..

    Sh#t Happens

Carl, mate that is horrible. not much i can say to soften it for you. as you say that is ****ed. hopefully repairs will go smoothly and you will be back in the water in no time.. so the cause was the borrower didnt tie her off properly?? Col
  13. Hi matt, thanks for that. i will have to give these prawn lookin things a go too how do they handle a few fish? the jewie i got wasnt a mark on the plastic and ive been using gulp alot and a couple of bites and you gotta put a new one on. hopefully these are a bit more robust. Col
  14. Hi guys, bought a couple of packs of Wave Worm plastics the other day. so far so good. they smell like aniseed and every time i take one out im tempted to eat them. you should see these 9 inch tiki shadicks in the water they glow big time. i reckon they would be a great sluggo alternative to you lucky people that have kings growing on trees. its good to see something other than gulp and squidgy does work. (i was pretty hesitant) I also got some 3.5 inch shrimp looking things i reckon will be gun on flathead anyone used these before?? p.s. they work
