  1. Hey Snapper, it was the same for us. We went out a few days ago to Browns, passed the Botany Bay Wide Fad on the way. We caught really small dollies just throwing lightly wieghted pillies at the fad. Got quite a few but they were only about 1lb to 1.5lbs. Good fun. We hooked a few dollies trolling around the fad as well, but most of them threw the hook, they were very small. Went to browns after that, heaps of bluewater and flying fish everywhere but we didn't turn a reel. Thats gamefishing for you, its a big ocean the fish could be anywhere. Still great to be out there, you never know where or when you will get them.
  2. yeah Mako, these scent blazer guys have got the best of the both worlds, they can keep the tuna to eat and just cut off a bit a of the belly flap and put it inside their lures lure smells like yellowfin love small YFT, great sushi and really nice lightly seared with a bit of wasbi and soya sauce good report guys
  3. Guys, they have turned up again. We got some on the Botany Bay Wide fad a few days ago, but they are really small. We got them casting pillies with a small sinker on the end of circle hooks. They were everywhere. They were about a 1 pound to a pound and half. Good fun though We hooked a few trolling as well, but becasue they were so small they kept coming of the hooks.
  4. Thanks for the report, you get those days, thats fishing for you. Anyway, as Bream said a bad days fishing is always better than good day at work, Good tip about trolling at higher speeds to try and locate the fish, espcially when there lots of warm blue water everywhere, the fish could be anywhere in it. We have often gone straight to the shelf and the bait station to troll all day for zeros then on the way back spot a few free jumpers off Long Reef about 5 miles offshore. I guess if we had few lures on the way out trolling at 12-15knot there is chance we could have hooked up on way out and stayed in closer where the fish were. I read on some forums in the US that trolling for Marlin at 12-15 knots is becoming really popular and they are getting good results. A marlin, even a dollie or stripy tuny could easilier catch a lure at 12-15kts. I am guessing that you run those lures a long way back? Maybe 100metres back to keep in the clean water?
  5. Great footage, it looked like the marlin billed or bit at the lure thinking it was a real fish becasue it smelt the fresh striped tuna inside the lure, then it came back around and swallowed the lure without hestitation thinking the lure was a wounded fish, text book stuff What lights did you use in the lures, thats a great idea as well? that footage makes me want to leave work and get out there right now
  6. i agree, I like the traps out there as well for holding fish, I think trapping is ok, the restaurants need fish and lobsters and of course I love picking up dollies around them and watching dollies jump around the surface near the traps, its unreal fun but i also agree with this post that they should be layed out responsibly, single big bouy and no excess rope floating on the surface i only got a smallish boat with a single engine, if we were to run over it at speed then that would pretty dangerous for us I want to catch fish not die trying good post, been using your lures and have done real well on them, keep up the good work, its good see something innovative and different out there
