  1. Yes i flushed it upright then tilted it up and at different angles in forward and reverse but couldn't get it to do it again . Has it only happened the one time
  2. It happened to my Yamaha once . I was coasting in to the beach beside the ramp and started to tilt the motor and got the crunching sound . Got home and flushed it . Tried the motor tilted while flushing . Only did it the once . Haven't had any trouble since
  3. Had the grandkids here and you know how hard it is getting teenagers up early
  4. I'm guessing they only use the boat once or twice a year and simply forget a lot of the rules . Should really brush up on the rules before heading out on the water . Add to that being it is very busy up here at Christmas you have boats anchored fishing but you still get boats not even attempting to slow down when passing next to them .
  5. I am amazed when it comes to holiday season how many don't know this simple rule when approaching a vessel head on in a narrow channel . I live at Forster Keys and to get to the Keys you have to go through a narrow channel . I was on the far right of the channel doing the 4 knot limit approaching the end of the channel . This boat turned into the channel i would guess doing the 4 knot limit . Did he move to his starboard . No . He wanted to pass on my starboard side . He was a bit perplexed when i started pointing to my port side . He eventually decided to pass on my port side .
  6. Checked out ozz_bretts idea . Getting a tablet with a built in GPS and will use the navionics app on it . Cheaper than an ipad and appears to work just as good .
  7. Wouldn't a GPS dongle on my netbook be just as good as the GPS in the ipad .
  8. I'd have buckleys of sneaking her ipad out the door .
  9. Why an ipad . My netbook would do the same job without the expense of buying an ipad wouldn't it
  10. I run a HDS5 sounder/gps split screen . Will the navionics for the HDS5 work in a laptop . I am inexperienced with charts on laptops . What would I require apart from the gps dongle . The reason I ask is because the laptop with the bigger screen will be easier to read . Sorry if its been asked before .
  11. I have been in Sydney for 5 weeks and knew nothing about it till oz_brett showed me today .
  12. Is this the one you saw . http://www.coastguard.com.au/component/content/article/2-webcontent/57-safetrx
  13. Been with Marine Rescue for a couple of years now and there is still a big mix of VHF and 27 Meg being used . From what i have been told the 27 Meg will be around for quite a while yet . In saying that VHF is a lot better system to use as others have said . The course is pretty easy so should have no issues with it .
