  1. check whats under the water to. If there is a submerged log/anything pointy it could damage your hull if its glass.
  2. Sounds like lady luck was not favouring you the other day. Did you see the article in bluewater sportsfishing mag about high speed trolling? They troll the skirts whilst they plane out to the ground with a very high success rate due to the fish having to hit the lure hard to catch it. Also allows you to cover more ground through-out the day Well worth the read...if anyone want to know more PM me and ill give you the article. Cheers, Josh
  3. ok peoples, Rotors will get surface from just sitting there due to being a clean bare metal surface. After using the trailer rise with fresh water and just leave it. Rotors are cheap and so are pads for them so why worry. Im sure 27mm of solid steel wont rust through any time soon if you rise it after use. Do not spray oil or anything on them. They are not designed for that and residual oil/chemical could have an adverse affect on performance or the metal itself. Cheers, Josh
  4. Yeh bud Id go with something like you said above. Get a nice long rod so you can lean back and put the hurt on the fish. My old man has a wilson jig stick (live fibre range now) from bout 15 year ago and its still a great rod matched with abu 9000CL and it stops 7ft barracuda out at the GBR check this one out mate: http://www.motackle.com.au/index.cfm?pr=product&product_id=7027
  5. Gday Jeff, Why dont you just go get a permit? If they indivisable object (Boat) doesnt require an escort vehicle (3m) in vic I believe then they just sign it off.
  6. Hey mate, go spend the money and get a decent one ($100-$200). If your doing heaps of greasing then look into a SP Tools 18v Grease Gun to do the job. Ive only ever used hand greasers and thats as a diesel mechanic but you want the good ones cause the cheap ones learn to fly pretty quick. Cheers, Josh
  7. ok cheers gary. I wont be buying till next month or two but will be down sydney when I buy the boat if that helps. Cheers, Josh
  8. Depends how long you get it for. I filled mine out today and will submit it closer to when I purchase the boat but I left the end date blank and the route blank. Put location from as my home address and the to location as various. Very simple and i wonder how many people have not gotten the boat they wanted cause of this reason. Driving during the day means you only get a 12hr drive in but thats ok I guess
  9. Gday guys, Just wondering what is the best type of outrigger for a hard cabin trailer boat? The splined type or the 3 leg tripod ones? Also how do you go about setting them up with the rod holder so the action works the best? Cheers, Josh
  10. Yeh ive got the permits n spoke with RTA, MVR, DOT QLD, VICROADS and its all sweet. Height is not an issue....look at the 3000 Sailfish, it is 3.8m high on the trailer and in the NT all the power cables are over 5m high...same with all the roads ill be driving due to mining equipment and cattle trucks. I found out the just make the hulls wider....which is the answer to my question. BTW if anyone is looking at oversize boats in NT/QLD its 3.5m without escort vehicle and bout $40 for 3 year permit. Goes through same day .
  11. Good Morning Everyone, Im currently looking at a ally power cat with a 2.75m but it doesnt have a trailer. Ive got a quote for a trailer but curious how the boat is widened as im worried if the trailer guys get it wrong im up a certain creek. Any help/advice would be great. Cheers, Josh
