  2. Hi Gents . . . Anyone recommend a good brand of gearbox oil to suit a 90 hp Johnson oceanpro 1999 model Regards
  3. Good story scratchie . . . . . .and a great session aswell Regards Gibson
  4. Hey Linc . . . Much the same as the others here mate . . .lived here for 35 years (25 years @ North Entrance & 10years @Terrigal) and came for holidays as a lad with the family for the other 15 or so. Nothing to complain about as a resident here . . . seen a lot change for the good and the bad . . either way its home to me. Did commute to the city for work for a many years and the trip down the F3 or M1 as its called now isnt that bad unless an accident has closed more than one lane down . . . . but once you cross the Hawksbury River on the way home its the best feeling to finally leave all the hustle and bustle behind you. Goodluck in the pursuit Regards Gibson
  5. As much as this sucks . . . . . like the raffle boat recently stolen . . . it is a part of life these days. I know up here on the Central Coast i have heard of complete vehicle and trailers stolen at Terrigal & also Cabbage Tree bay - Norah Head ocean ramps in the 35 years i have lived here The whole stretch from the Entrance bridge to right to Norah Head if you park anywhere along those beach access stops . . . the opportunity has presented itself for the less desirables . . . . to at their leisure do as they please. Pelican Beach use to be the worst of the lot and the old tip before they built Magenta Shores on top of it. I was fishing with my father one day at north entrance and we left our vehicle and trailer at the ramp by the co-op after we had our fun , we retreived the boat and jumped in the car (which was still locked) and the glove compartment had been riflied through and some its contents were left on the passenger seat.. . . there was only change in the glovy . . nothing more The thief had even gone to the trouble to lock the vehicle afterwards . . .but we noticed . .. never parked there again If you go up that way occassionally you will see shattered glass on the ground . . .which brings only one thing to mind. When i have shot on the beach along there i always park my vehicle on the roadside in the hope that this deters them somewhat. But as we all know this can happen anywhere . . anytime no matter what your doing. Regards Gibson
  6. Great catch . . must have been a nice run when he snatched the hook
  7. Found that out after i arrived there this morning . . . Marine Resuce were asking anglers to be in by three so it didnt affect the event. . . . or the anglers trying to retreive boats.
  8. I was told to lightly go over them with a hair dryer after each one was set in place . . . also helps the stickers adhere to the uneven surface of the hull . . this was suggested by a spray painter who said this is method he used when he applied sticker pin stripes . . .
  9. Same here when i left for work this morning at around 6:30am . . i passed a Fisheries glass boat headiing through Terrigal with what appeared to be FADS onboard one can only hope this is so Gibson
  10. Hey Paikea . . . It looks practical , easily maintainable and servicable . . . . i would think its a great option just for the fact that you dont have remove the floor to install/replace I will definately consider this as my next covering The only thing that may concern me is sore feet . . . . as you stated the aggresive pattern. Regards Gibson
  11. Nice haul . . you must be very pleased and well done to scratchie for supplying you the info Regards Gibbo
  12. some really nice tanks there fella's . . . impressive
  13. Hey Jezza, , , Buggers . . . i enter from the memoral park side and head towards the bridge , but you can acheive the same result given that the banks may be better to access gutters etc on the dunleith side . . they dredge here often and the variations are constant. . . . they are their and now the prawns are kicking off will draw them even closer the ocean side of the bridge as the closer you get to the ocean the more of a bottle neck scenario applies . . which is good because it minimises the grounds to cover. I dive from the front of the rocks out to the bommie and the flatty are just beyond the rocks at the very foreshore - N/NE less than a hundred feet everywhere and the numbers are excellent. also the bronzes are in huge numbers there at times also . . .but more to the east . i get a few bream and red mowie occassionally to . . plenty of jackets etc to the south towards the surfclub Gibson
  14. cheers , with the prawn run about to begin here things will heat up even more so A few of the diehard prawners will have a rod attached to the rear of their fish tubs/pump up rafts that they tow behnd them , , , , they do pretty good as well. im only in it for the prawns though and do very well when i can put the hours in. some of the elder jew men use to keep small blackfish caught while prawning to flick into the run and try for jew later that night or the following . . . which is successful here . . . you just let the tide take it out a fair way before it stops and then wait . . this works only on the run out ofcourse . . the jews lurk out their in the murky waters that escape the lake system waiting for the next meal to approach. Yeah the shops sell lots of blood worms up here . . i use to manage a local tackle shop @ the entrance and one at wamberal for a short stint many many moons ago . The entrance shop always smashed sales of the worms as guys would ring throught their orders and show up just as i was locking up after the haul from the city to get here. the wambie shop really only catered for rock hoppers and the outside crews. Im hoping to go out and snag some squid this next day or so for bait . . just need to find the time. Regards Gibson
  15. I was curious whether Terrigal wide was returned . . . but it only states it has been removed for winter
  16. Hey Jezza , i fish on the ocean side of the bridge & i wade out onto the sandbars and flick the odd lure into the channels , up stream on the run out . . this yields some good results .I walk up as far towards the bridge as i can through the middle of the sand bank and hang back about 3 metres from the edge and flick lures out in different patterns . . . . moving backwards towards where i entered and try all the ground i walked till i reach the starting point where i entered - i have found the red and white lures 100mm or so the best for flatty , but have caught whiting on the crawdad lures in the same location but at the very bottom of the tide and in clear water Alternatively you can throw live poddy's below a float into the main run almost at the top of the tide which is reasonably productive - between the small ramp at the last of the pines and the bend where the channel turns out into the sea is good ground. On the north side you can do the same thing - depending on the water traffic - at the last channel marker before the old co-op on the opposing side of the channel is often good. Regards Gibson All decent areas for flatty
  17. Hi All . . . . . Just wanted to say thank you to Craig and the team from Huetts. The service from the whole crew from start to finish was excellent. Its a great thing when a businees is a family orientated one Got launch the Savage for the first time since purchase today , followed the directions given by Craig and the boat goes superb. He provided me with some intel on the Johnson and a few tips on different elements which are a blessing to know in hindsight Other than the VRO which was defective & replaced , just minor stuff , thermo's, impeller , compression test , plugs, primer bulb, I did the powertune last night and flushed it in the morning before giving her the maiden voyage test. Really didnt smoke like i was expecting and the muck i thought i'd see emitted wasnt evident , so i can only assume that possibly the previous owner maybe did the same thing at the required intervals. . . . but it did idle better and smoke . . non existent , only enough to think its possibly a 2 stroke . . the oil leak down the skeg . . . all gone . . stoked !!!! The boat went brilliant and am very pleased with the result and would recommend them to all in need of some maintenance done Thanks again Huetts GREAT JOB . . Peter aka Gibbo
  18. Hi Guys ... This might be a dumb question but! As part of the process I'm doing bit by bit as above . After changing oil over etc (xd100) what is the easiest way to remove the air from the oil line . Should I just pump the primer bulb while disconnected at the motor end till I only get oil and then keep the bulb compressed till I've secured the line back to the motor or is there another method. And would this also apply to the fuel system., 90hp ocean pro Johnson Not sure but want to do this the right way Regards Gibbo
  19. Hi Phil , Well I haven't gotten to far since my last post ,but I have purchased 3x 3.7 litre XD100 on eBay at a cost of $180 + $34 delivery from Queensland and only just finished electrics , mounting , wiring , etc and polishing up all the fibreglass which is time consuming But i have scored a new three step stainless ladder which I haven't fitted yet , another job So yeah I only now need the power tune and I'm ready to decarbonise and see what comes next . I'm sure this should be sorted once I do these last steps . Thanks for the info , nice to know its not just my donk that's had this issue Regards Gibbo
