  3. As the boating industry is very strong in Australia there is alot of opportunities out there for young apprentises. If you can tell me where you live I may be able to help you out.
  4. Trophy1 I will let you know that there are more than 2 types of foam bouyancy that is legal. As it is now by law required by all boat manufactures to foam fill there boats there is now alot more of foam manufactures out there. Foam can be cut to any shape or size to suit builders reqirements. I choose to use a product that is infact shaped like a pool noodle for ease of application. I still use polyethelene as foam bouyancy which is fuel and water resistant. Thanks for pointing that out Mark
  5. There is still no doubt that a fully welded fully sealed 3mm DNV certified plate floor filled with .8 of a cubic meter of polyethelene foam that is fuel and water resistant that complies with the standard USL codes and carry current ABP complience is enough to warrant safe boating. COUGARCRAFT complies to this standard and also includes a bilge Pp and also foam fills there larger 6m and above vessels as standard. The construction and alloys used in conjuntion with building techniques is the utmost importance of a quality plate boat. There are good plate builders out there that do comply and build quality products, and my support and backing goes out to them as there is alot of time and hard effort that goes into building a true plate boat. Also as builders in the Australian boat market we like to see our industry stay local. We strive daily to supply the best we possibly can to give you ( the customers) the best you desreve. My posts are one of those who strive to be the best. Mark COUGARCRAFT
  6. Great work mate!!! you must be really proud of your acheivements. From one boat builder to another well done, I can fully understand the hick ups you can have and sometimes a beer is all that is needed! All the best and may she serve you well. Mark COUGARCRAFT
  7. You have chosen some good brands of alloy boats. Please be aware of the difference between an alloy boat and a plate alloy boat. You may revise the posts that I have added to the forums previously, as you can see there is alot of work that goes into a true plate boat. Pricing obviously plays a huge part of any desicion making but choose well and I wouldnt advise buying the cheepest because thats what you will get. If its ofshore fishing you truely want to do that is safe and comfortable I would choose a real plate boat that has been designed by naval architects and built to USL codes using only the best DNV certified alloys. Of course I would love to see you in a COUGARCRAFT so I can offer you an opportunity to buy factory direct and this will save you thousands. All the best in your choices I wish you all the best as this is an enjoyable part of buying a boat. Kindest regards Mark
  8. Hello, I agree with the last post, Mate if you can afford set your boat up with twin 4strokes if you intend doing long hours, keep them well and they will look after you. Its important to know if your transoms buit strong enough as I dont know what hull you are after. Twin 2 strokes are good also but a bit thirsty when using one for trawling speed. The Etec are great these days though. At the end of the day if you can afford it mate go twins if you want to trawl out at the banks. Hope this serves you well. All the best with it. Mark
  9. mate you may have to bring your axles fwd more, they are genrally 600-700mm fwd of the last roller on the trailer. Try this and I think you may have pleasent suprises. Good luck and pm me If you want more info

    Novice Question

Mate the beam is the fattest part of your boat, usally just fwd of midships depending on how the boat is built. The max beam is measured from port to starboard from outside to outside of the boat. Max allowable towing beam is 2.5m, outside of this towing permits are required. I hope this answrs your question.
  12. MATE I REMEMBER YOUR POST FROM A WHILE BACK NOW AND I WAS INTRESTED IN HOW YOU GOT ON. YOUR BOAT LOOKS TOPS AND IT SHOWS YOU HAVE PUT ALOT OF TIME INTO IT. WELL DONE MATE!

Groperman Ive got some ring me and I can send you some. 0424826788 Mark
  14. My guess mate would be Stessel because of the pressed gunwhales (not side sheets) If they are 3mm thick this is a possibilty. Quintrex use their own exclusive extrusion called facia for there gunwhales. My gut feel though is Clark
