  1. Great video JA We used to go up there as kids walking up from Reeves st Narara. Once a few of us got licences we drove in from Somersby end.(dirt road and no houses back then). Plenty of Red belly blacks along the creek edges. Never thought about fishing for bass only ever went up for a swim. Brings back some good memories thanks. Tim
  2. That's a good area for squid Rock Hopper. I use a 2.2g or 2.5g jig there.
  3. Yeah Rock Hopper salmon released I don't normally use the squid as bait either but they were only small so I thought why not throw throw one out and try for a kingfish. Tim
  4. I was out there at 5am today I saw a few bonnies caught early on Pillies under float. I managed to get 2 small green eye and floated one out only to be taken by a big salmon. Didn't bother wasting the other one. Tried for a few more calamari but no luck. The water looked green and dirty. Tim
  5. South Avoca rocks is the spot Anthony Park near the surf club. Once you get out on the rocks you will see everyone fishing you just have to find a spot..or try Terrigal Haven for Bonnies Tim
  6. There are a few coming in the Haven ARC it's still hit and miss some days they are there other days nothing. I'll be heading back out here in a few days when the tide gets lower in the morning.
  7. Arron, I fish landbased in Brisbane waters or off my kayak. With bait fishing I always use a running sinker straight to the hook. At the moment I have been fishing around Ettalong/Umina beach area using a bean sinker (size varies on current flow) and a 3/0 circle hook with half a Pilchard as bait and getting some nice flathead. Usually I can feel a tap,tap then some weight starts to load up on the rod and I strike. Tim
  8. Just a running sinker down to the hook. Always a bean sinker and as small as I can. When the current flows a bit harder just up the sinker size.
  9. It's was crazy the amount of boats out there. I left when 2 people came over and both started casting over my line ?
  10. Salted pillies Rick. The current flows pretty hard so I just walk along the beach(poor mans drifting)
  11. Went down to Ettalong/Ocean beach this morning for a fish. Arrived at 6am and back to the car at 9am. Result 4 flathead around the 40cm's and 1@53cm. Not a bad start to the day Tim
  12. I only keep a couple to feed myself, the missus and my daughter
  13. 2 that went 64cm and 72cm both released. About 20 under size and 8 keepers over the last 4 weekends
  14. Nice catch Arc. its good to see Brisbane waters producing great fish. I've been getting some flatties myself lately
  15. Great read mate. Always good to get a mixed bag of fish and Bonnies are great fun when busting up in close.
  16. I put on Owner 1/0 single hook this morning. Dropped a couple of fish but releasing the fish with minimum damage was much easier with the single hook.
  17. Had a good morning on the Bonito today at Terrigal heaps of hook ups from 6am till about 8:30am then all went quiet.
  18. Thanks Derek I will be changing to singles.
  19. I'm after people's opinions on whether it's worth changing the trebles on metal lures to a single hook. Does it affect the action of the lure or hook rate? I'm using 5-10gram metals at the moment to catch Bonito. As most fish are released I was thinking a single hook would cause less damage to the fish. Thanks, Tim

Bonito are coming into terrigal haven at the moment taking 5 or 10 gram metals
  21. We are running low on good bait and tackle shops down the south end of the coast. Umina bait and tackle was good for fresh prawns and live worms its a shame it closed..I will be having a look at the new one at Woy Woy in the morning hopefully they sell some fresh bait.
  22. Thanks for the well informed information Rick. I agree 2 traps per person,4 per boat is reasonable. Tim
  23. Capy100 asked for opinions on crab traps and as far as can see if the opinion is not the one he agrees with then it's wrong.
  24. Don't know why they are banned in Brisbane waters and never really bothered to find out but for last 30 years I have just used handlines to catch them I know blokes that struggle to handline then net the crab so they go to the Hawkesbury to use traps which is great..more crabs for me ?
  25. No traps of any sort allowed in Brisbane waters which i think is a good idea.Lake Macquarie and the Hawkesbury should be the same its not hard to handline for them.
