  1. Beat me to it haha Gonna contact you for some info and connections. Thankyou Chu!
  2. Truly amazing. Dead baits and live baits only? Wouldve been nice to have some feedbacks on jigging and spinning. Im heading over Vietnam for 3 weeks in November. This would definitely be on my list to do with my brother in law and mates in Vietnam. Con Dao Island is South of Vietnam. $150 return airfare i would assume from Saigon to the Island, not Australia to Vietnam.
  3. Thanks guys! Interestingly enough, i found that the 50-55cm models put up much more of a ballistic fight than the 60cm models. Despite the 2 or 3 initial drag screaming moments, youre pretty much pulling dead weight and they give up as soon as you get them to the surface of the water, flip flopping like tuna on deck. Spykey - 20 grams on your Bream rod is overkill, i wouldnt recommend. Maybe on the wharves or inner bays, casting 10 - 15grams metals at something working the baitfish worth trying. On most of the rocks spinning, i wouldnt go below a 9fter with 4-8kg. Sometimes when things are slow, been able to safely load up the rod and ripping it out an extra 10-30 meters to entice the skittish pays dividends. Certain ledges with water right at your feet you can get away with shorter and lighter rating if you know what your doing...
  4. Hey guys Hit up the eastern sub, not expecting anything (fishing 11-1pm). Had to pick up my daughter @ 2:30pm. Not much choice there. A beautiful overcast condition, slightly breezy. Pushing my luck, working the shallow divers and popper to see if i could entice the odd Kingy patrolling the ledge. To no avail. Switched to 30 grams Twisty for the last 15mins. Persistent paid off. I literally caught this monster on the last cast, after 1.5 hour non stop spinning my arm almost detached itself. I would never expect to catch the odd Bonnie during the middle of the day. I normally work them out during sunrise and sunset. Lucky i had my polarised glasses on, it was an awesome sight watching the bonnie cruising 2 meters directly along side the lure and about 1m sub surface, 15 odd meters away. With the final twitch of speed, 10 meters away the bonnie gave in and smacked the lure, like a speeding car merging lanes. Visually amazing. Something i will never forget for a long time. Taken on 30 grams Halco Twisty. A beautiful 63cm model. Thanks for reading!

  8. Hello fellow Raiders. Im proud to report back on Saturday 20th July 2013, ive caught my first ever Australian Salmon off the beach at South Curl Curl. All thanks to James (Chimiria), for taking myself and Ignacio out for a bit of beach fishing in the early morning. He showed us step by step how to rig up properly for beach fishing, and when the Sun was up, patiently taught us how to read beach formations, gutters and where the fish are likely to be lurking. It wasnt long after rigging up, i was onto my 1st Salmon, although only a small pup measuring 43cm, it pulled really hard and i wasnt expecting it to be so tough, as soon as it was close to shore it when berserk, but with James guidance, it stand no chance of unhooking and escaping. Soon after James was onto his first for the day measuring 46cm, and then a beautiful 54cm specimen. Whilst Ignacio was using a much lighter gear without much success chucking pillies, switched to worms and caught his first ever Whiting. Beach fishing is a tough workout, lugging the heavy gear and with the gutters constantly shifting. It pays to pack much lighter next time and to stay mobile. The use of a much heavier sinker is needed as my baits was constantly washed ashore and perhaps a 3/0 or 4/0 ganged would help with a better hook up. The gear i was using; Daiwa Seajigger 325 Saltist 4500H with 40lbs braid Paternoster 2 meters FC Leader with 2/0 ganged. 40g-60g Star sinkers Pilchards as bait All in all, it was a beautiful warm winter morning to be beach fishing, learning new techniques, making new friends and memories. Once again, big thanks to James for taking us under his wings. And Oh, the salmon was just a bonus. Im now a more confident beachfisher. Thankyou for reading Ryan This is James onto his regular catches
  9. hey mate i was thinking of fishing between Manly to Long Reef too. ill sure to be in contact with you before then. Anyone else wanting to help us out?
  10. Hey guys anyone heading for the rocks this saturday? i have the day off, and would like to target blackfish/drummer/gropers. Would love to have the opportunity to join and learn from the experienced rock fishermen the safety aspects of rock fishing and the various techniques and rigs. Catching or not catching is no biggie, making new friends and learning new things is all that matters. many thanks Ryan

Welldone mate What fish is that? the silver version of the snapper Wrasse are very good eating. Ultra white flesh, slightly soft textured, no fishy taste at all, very clean tasting. very good on the bbq in foil or chinese steamed style
