  1. it was the week after - pillies were frozen and had no issues with the staying on the hooks.
  2. What rig where you using - we were using a running sinker and two snelled circle hooks, one through the tail the other through the head and had a good session their. I made burley bombs as well with old bait and tuna oil, put them out about every 30-45 mins, our best night fishing there so far.
  3. Hey everyone, Went to try a new spot today in the yak - Unloading another guy, Colin I think, was also unloading and we started talking. He fishes there regularly and when we got on the water he asked if I wanted to join him for a session and he would show me around. I said sure, we started throwing soft plastics at one of the banks on bass island. I had given him one of my squidgy wild prawns to try. His first cast he gets a couple of hits but couldn't hook it. My first cast twitch, twitch pause. The go to twitch and get and get smashed, takes me back in the timber and drops the hook. Try again and got snagged. we try for the next half hour and didn't get anymore more hits so we paddled out to the middle and tried the deeper water where a lot of fish were showing on the sounder. We tried everything from blades, hard bodies, and different SP's but nothing. Then my new mate switches to a 3" minnow in green from powerbait. Throws it over the drop off, goes from 2m to 10m pretty quickly. Gives it a couple of twitches and I hear him call my name saying his on. I paddle over and he says he thinks he has a decent bream on. Almost gets to the surface and takes off again. After another short battle and the ever elusive grey ghost comes to the surface. It went 70cm plus, a quick photo and a bit to his hand and it sweeps back off to the deep. Not bad on 4lb leader and on bream gear. We tried for another 40 minutes and only landed one more decent bream near bass island with a green atomic chubby hard body. It was a good day and great to meet new people. Cheers
  4. hi Jason, havn;t been out in the inner west, but have been fishing Narrabean Lakes a bit lately. Plenty of bream, tailor and flatties around. Launch at the boat ramp and head left. Near the first yellow bouy/marker there is a decent hole holding plenty of fish. I have been using the squidy wild prawn in bloodworm on a 1/16 or 1/8th jig head. The current is pretty strong in this section. For clothes, i haven't got any fishing winter clothes specifically, but if you are looking for something light, wind and water proof. I would go with a golf jacket. I used to play golf and these were pretty good even in torrential rain was still dry - they usually come with pants as well.
  5. I was there last sunday with predator and there must have been 6 or 7 guys there with a bag limit each and where saying their freezers were already full. Neither of us could understand why you could want so much fish and how there could be so many fish in one fairly small hole. Well done ont he catch though, it has been good fishing there the last few weeks even for bream and flatties
  6. Well, well, well look who it is. I don't know how you can even count that bass, your lure was bigger than it. LOL.
  7. Hey witha, I have a generation black itchy twitchy with a 1000 stradic ci4. Great set up and balance it would be within your $ range. Cheers Matt
  8. Information posted on MMM facebook page: This is the statement that Caltex Australia Petroleum sent us after we showed them this photo: "A heavy rain event yesterday led to a small release of oily water from the Kurnell Refinery into Botany Bay. Caltex contained and dispersed this small oil release in conjunction with Sydney Ports Corporation. This morning, Caltex, along with Sydney Ports Corporation, have inspected both the north and south side of Botany Bay by boat, and also by foot along the beach front. No odour or sheen was detected and all appears to now be clear. Booms will remain in place on the south side of the Bay for at least another tide change as a precaution only. All relevant authorities have been notified." Statement by the Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW: "The Recreational Fishing Alliance and many fishing clubs that are located around and fish Botany Bay regularly are greatly concerned with the initial discovery of such when a local recreational fisher alerted others at 5pm yesterday afternoon of an oil slick and extreme fuel odour that was in the air across lower Botany Bay. At closer observation as anglers gathered on the northern shores of this great Recreational Fishing Haven which was created when recreational fishers supported a $10million voluntary commercial fishing buy out in early 2000, we now wonder how much the investment has been further devalued and what are the immediate and long term impacts in the Bay. Anglers became increasingly concerned as they took photos and notice what was missing out on the Bay, there was a lack of ‘on water emergency response oil spill units’ from Caltex and the Ports Authority. The oil/fuel spill stretched from Caltex Oil Wharf across the Bay around Bare Island and heading into Congwong Bay, and around the northern headland, at 5.55pm the first Ports Oil Spill Response boat appeared and then joined by 2 Caltex boats driving through and around assessing the extent of the oil spill, it’s was clear that they stayed away from the northern shoreline and beached where more and fishers and the public were gathering watching the wind drift oil spill wash up on the local beaches, the white sand being covered with an increasing oily scum and sludge."
  9. Hi everyone, Anyone looking to buy a new hobie or looking for accessories. A shop in Penrith is now stocking yaks and accessories. They are currently offering a $100.00 gift card for paddle and $200.00 gift card for peddle kayaks. Cheers Matt
  10. We got a few at devlins a couple of weeks ago, they were pretty small though
  11. Have you tried the ecogear prawn vibe zx series, they work really well. In the black or gold. Couple of hops and pause usually work. Cheers matt
  12. Hi everyone, Well predator and I went on our first outing as he picked up a revo 11 on Saturday. Headed down the Nepean for a quick paddle and fish to get used to the yaks. I learnt a few lessons from yesterday. 1. Remember to take your seat. Was in such a rush and full of excitement I left it at home - considering we were on the water for a good 2 1/2 hours I wasn't that uncomfortable. 2. Sunscreen on the legs - put sunscreen everywhere else and my legs look like a lobster today. All in all it was a fun first venture. Predator picked up 2 small Bass within 10 mins of getting on the water and only 50 metres from where we launched. Lots of follows and fun seeing bass strike at bugs on the surface. Cheers Matt
