  1. Thanks all, Mono seems to be the preferred choice. My rod is 6-10kg rating, with an 8000 reel attached to it. Combo package. My initial thoughts were 12lb Mono, with a heavier leader. Was thinking 14-16lb. Would that be on the money or am I way off? Hopefully heading out on Friday with a mate to give it a crack. If the above is correct I only need to buy the heavier leader line and I am all set. Cheers Jezza
  2. Hey All, I finally have gotten my beach rod, a lovely present from my in laws. Keen to give it a go but have a few questions I thought I would ask you knowledgable people. What lb line should I be using for beach fishing? Should I go mono or braid? I have looked and seen the different setups to use, but get varying results on the strength and type of the line. Hopefully the weather holds out over the weekend so I can have my first crack at it. Cheers in advance all. Jezza
  3. Well definately too much rod for a squire. But i caught something and is an awesome present so cant complain. One more week off so hopefully a few more fish head my way.
  4. Hey all. Been awhile since I have posted. Just recently went fishing with my brother in law in Swansea. Finally broke my 6 month drought without a fish. Nothing special but considering the gap between fish I was pretty damn excited. 6cm Squire was caught. Most people would consider that a pain in the ass, but was one of the best christmas presents for me hahaha. Anyway i had to post. Looking forward to testing out one of my other christmas pressies. Scored a Shimano Tcurve 662 Barra spin. Hopefully i get more luck with this rod. Hope you all had a great christmas and enjoyed the fishing. Cheers JEZ
  5. Looks like an awesome adventure. Thanks for the report. Making me so damn hungry haha
  6. That looks delicious. If i ever get so lucky to get one for myself ill follow that to a T. Great work
  7. Thats an awesome effort. Teach me hahaha
  8. Where I was looking the T-Curve was around $250. The wifey doesnt want me spending that much. Will try and convince her again haha
  9. Haha how devistated would you be. Lucky he still has his fingers though
  10. Nice catches there mate, and good on the girly getting into some fish too. Now you will be allowed out more often to fish haha
  11. Nice fish there buddy. Cracking start to your fishing life. Cheers Jezza
  12. Hi All, I currently have a Stradic 4000FJ, but do not have an appropriate rod for the reel. It feels wasted on the rod it is currently on. Any advice on a suitable rod for this reel? I like the T-Curves but a little out of the price range for me at the moment. Cheers in advance all. Jezza
  13. For the beginner. What fish is the 2nd last one? My initial thought was some kind of shark but the head threw me for a loop
  14. Looks like you had a blast. Some good catchea there
