  1. Was up there earlier this year (October), mainly fished off broadbeach. There was a huge gutter running across the entire beach, and this was opposite First Avenue. Caught a few thumper bream (one pushing 50cm) as well as plenty of dart, and a few whiting. The whiting were on worms and everything else caught on pippies which are easy to catch fresh on the low tide. The spit breakwall is okay if you can cast out far enough as there are some whiting, trevally and bream and mangrove jack if lucky enough, but if you can't get out far enough expect to snag up a fair bit haha. Not sure of the Nerang River but I'm sure that would have your typical estuary species in it. Cheers, Tom
  2. Cheers dynabolt, what do you usually tend to catch with these? And which side of the wall is best to fish, ocean side or harbour side?
  3. Hi all, am sick of catching bream and flathead and want to get on to something that pulls a little harder! Have heard many good things about port kembla breakwall and near the harbour for kingfish and jewfish. I went down to check out both today (walked a bloody long way to the end) and it looked okay. People were just catching yakkas for live bait. I've heard there are jews and kingies there but that's it. Can anyone tell me where/how I can catch these elusive buggers? Which wall/side of wall and what sort of rigs to use? Cheers, happy fishing Ps. Also have access to a kayak so can get out into the middle of the two walls.
  4. Thanks heaps Krause, last Saturday we managed to pull a few whiting and small flatties out of the lake but otherwise not much, gotta have a go down south by the sounds of things, cheers
  5. Hi everyone, I live in the Wollongong area, but lately am struggling to produce any decent fish whatsoever. Adding to this struggle is I am land based > the fish numbers seems to have taken a plunge recently and was wondering if anyone knew of any land based spots where anything decent is being caught, and how to catch them (baits, rigs, etc) Obviously I am not expecting anyone to give up their 'spot X' haha. I have heard Killalea beach is good for a cocktail of species, so if anyone has any information on killalea or any other areas could you please help a desperate 17 year old out? Cheers
  6. Hi friends I always find myself fishing in various locations and seeing large sea and bully mullet swim past, but refuse to eat anything i put in the water when i see them. Nothing. Does anyone have any tips on catching these fish because they are monsters and look like nice small sportfish that would be fun on light gear. I have caught a few nice ones up to 2kg in some areas (rarely) but no technique seems to work consistantly, besides these mullet seem to be a different species. If anyone has any tips or consistently working techniques could you please let me know? Thankyou
  7. Thanks heaps guys, any information is helpful. I go to conjola fairly regularly and these maps should help alot. I didn't know about the sharks, let's hope there isn't anything bigger in there! I am going to go and search for an artificial reef in the lake up past the steps, has anyone fished that area of the lake? Cheers Tom
  8. Hey guys I'm going down to Lake Conjola in the next set of school holidays for a fishing trip on the long weekend, but have not been there since before it was opened earlier this year. Can anybody let me know any information about what is being caught and where, and how the fishing has been? Also on a completely random note does anyone know if sharks can get into the lake now that it has been reopened? Thanks
