  1. I was pretty sure I'd heard they were trying to re-establish the leases too, but didn't want to say anything till I found some evidence on the net (I didn't find any last night - found some great pictures of them being worked though). Two lots of hear-say is enough proof
  2. There have been some great reports of flatties, jews etc from the George's and Botany Bay. How do you think this waterway is going since the pro's have been banned? Anecdotally it seems to be getting better and better. What do you reckon? Cheers Wayne
  3. I agree with Jewel. I used to fish the inshore reefs at Evans Head in a mates 4.3m Quintrex fishrunner. It was a top platform and not too expensive. His was a centre console and had a 40hp on the back. It was great. You could fish the rivers and the close reefs with ease. btw - a 3.8m would limit your fishing trips big time. Only the calmest weather would be safe... Good luck Wayne
  4. Great read John. Where did you manage to dig that one up from? Keep em coming!
  5. Oi, that was uncalled for LOL... It was Andrews article umm, What Bung and Stix said with regards the rig Rockworm: You're spot on too - these two fellas can fish! And Matt can catch blackfish
  6. Good point Lawrie. I kind of take it for granted that gilling a jewie isn't that hard... I forgot to point out the gill-rakers - thanks for that. Once you learn to gill a jewie you'd never go back to gaffing - but that's for beach and boat fishing in my opinion. Rock fishing is a different story, you can't really get close enough to them to do it safely.
  7. From a boat I like to gill my fish. The guy i fish with likes boga grips. Sometimes a gaff has been used to. You need to let the weight of the fish sink the gaff point. I use the gaff off the rocks.
  8. Hi Matt Sounds like a nice day out - Haven't got it as wired as your local waters yet. I'm sure you will, given the chance. Cheers Wayne
  9. Do you see the irony in having a stocking project in a river that gets hammered by the pros. I couldn't confirm the other thread here abouts that 2500kg of jew were netted there recently. Does the money for stocking of this species come from the recreational licences? It's funny how this arguement has been circular - I was kind of thinking that the jew post in here by Matt should be in it's own thread, but in a way it highlights the problem with spending our money. Sorry Hooky, just noticed your reply in the Jewfish slaughter thread
  10. I though Swoffa might have an opinion - thought he could have given you one to lend out of his collection. Swoffa's Car Hole (Garage)... Sorry it not Diawa
  11. Grant - I don't know about that rig, but my dream rig in the same line class at the moment is a 4000 Stradic matched to a Nitro- Magnum Butt Distance Spin 7'6" Nitro Rods It might be a bit out of your price range though - mine to at the moment, but I'm gunna hold out for it. I was going to use it for jews on SPs and probably light spinning pelagics off the rocks or boat. Cheers Wayne
  12. Iain Good onya for standing up for the kingtrap issue, although I wonder if you/we may have got a better response if the letter had come from a licensed Rec fisho? Maybe they looked up the database and found you weren't a paid up member. I hope I'm wrong... Wayne
  13. Thanks Pukka My father has been up me to come up with a land based spot for us to throw some SPs around. I think I'll have to talk him into getting a boat Cheers Wayne
  14. Well done Chris. Anything else on the chew? What's going on outting the lure? Matt will be pleased... lol
