That's the best advice ever, that's another problem with the breakwall I never mentioned, on weekends you get heaps of boats all crammed in close to the breakwall, the amount of times I've seen the maritime boat out there fining people for anchoring off the end of the breakwall is not funny. Every time I go there its the same thing, on a few occasions I've noticed it's even the same boats every time. They get moved on by maritime, and then come back 20 mins later and anchor up again. They are so close to the rocks that anyone fishing landbased won't have anywhere to cast. I guess that's what happens to the good spots though.

Good stuff.. Haha, last I was there one Chinese bloke had a bit of a chuckle after he found out I was using 15 lb, I asked him what he had, he said minimum 80 lbs.... He was just scull dragging the 60 cm kings in. I lost 2 out of 8 and ended up losing another one due to snapping my reel where it connects to the rod... Them kings really beat up my gear that day. With that said when they came green and full of energy I found that if you were quick to keep their head up out of the water you could lift them straight up out the water almost like swing them up. I was still able to hoist them up with 15 lb line just.... It wouldn't work with bigger ones though. I usually stand on the rock right down close to the water though depending on conditions, it's only a short hoist up. From memory when I'm out in the boat, the fishfinder says the deepest part of the port at the entrance is around 22 metres deep. that's just off the wall too. I really thought it would of been a lot deeper looking them massive ships coming through there, unless the depth sounder is wrong?

That's awesome, I'm guessing being midweek had a lot to do with you having it all to yourself... Good to hear you got a good catch, the kings have been pretty consistent from there this summer. Cheers for taking a bucket of rubbish too, what that place really needs is a tipper truck to reverse all the way to the end to fill up. Lol

The breakwall is a good spot but what frustrates me is that even if you turn up early and get a good spot close to the water people turn up later and just cast over your head from behind you... I wish they would make breakwalls a bit more fisherman friendly. There's only about 4 or 5 good spots at the end and even then you gotta clamber over the slippery rocks because filthy people like to leave rotting bags of pilchards on the rocks with oil leaking out all over the rocks... Not to mention the fact that 99% of the kings ive seen caught off there are undersized(still good fun), but I don't think I have seen one get thrown back yet... And it stinks up the end real bad, well it did when I was there 2 weeks ago. It's still good spot I just wish more people would look after it.

That's what I was meaning when they have a separate attachment for the gas ones... So you have somewhere to put the woodchips. In my non gas webber I just soak the woodchips in water then put them straight on the charcoals, I'm not sure if it rights but it works for me. Maybe try a little wire basket or something and put them straight on hot plate?

I'm not sure about a gas one but I've successfully smoked things in my normal charcoal webber, it comes out nice.... I think the gas ones have a separate attachment,,,, It says something about it here,, http://help.weber.com/grilling-tips/smoking-basics/

In my opinion, if I needed to be resqued I wouldn't hesitate to give them a few hundred, being the fact that if you didn't get resqued there is a possibility that you could pay the ultimate price and lose your life... Any amount of money is irrelevant in that case.. Look after them fellas you never know when you will need them... Ive had good luck so far and fortunately never had to use them..

I used to walk down the end of box beach rd down to the beach, turn right and continue till you get to the rocks, fish the other side of the rocks facing the spit, there's a nice ledge there, with a rock pool behind it... It's a pretty washy type of area and can get a bit hairy if it's a bit rough outside.

Yeah I agree, I always thought it was a land based game fishing spot for marlin and tuna and similar... I went there a few times and only caught massive red rock cod and huge Wirrah, its a mission climbing down that ledge within rods and tackle too... I used to get the snapper off the rocks at box beach closest to the spit. I found they come in close to the rocks just before and during a big swell. If they are there you will catch them. I used to get them on whitebait. I don't live there anymore so I dont know the latest on what happens there but I was pretty good fishing when I was there for 3 years...

Which spot are you talking about exactly? Do you walk all the way out past the mental hospital right out to the old military bunker thing? Or do you go right to the top and climb down the other side? (it's a dangerous spot though)

That sounds about right to me, When my mate lost the key to his roadbike he went to one of them locksmith/ shoe repairer guys in narellan town centre, I sure it was only around $80 or so... I remember my mate wasn't whining about it too much....

Now about that jewie advice??? Haha Please help a jewie noob out here....
