the only thing that I can suggest to start catching more fish is the fish very light. I usually fish without sinkers and leaders down to 4lb if required to entice a bite. Generally fishing middle of the day off a wharf is quite hard. Try fishing early mornings the first and last hour of sunlight will be the most productive. I do quite well just fishing with cheap coles white bread. Throw out little pieces of bread crust for burley and then throw in a piece of the white section with a small hook in it.

The female squid have a wider mantle and the males have a narrower one. Fairly easy once u know how. Great catch

How heavy is your leader. I wouldnt use anything heavier than 6lb fluro.

I use the floating mono lines specially designed for iso fishing and flurocarbon leaders. I'm using Toray ex leaders at the moment, and they are working well.

If you are going through a lot of hooks, your sinker is too heavy. It is a trade off in terms of line strength. The heavier you go the less fish you will catch. The lighter you go, the more fish you will hook but you'll lose the big ones. Look through the iso fishing videos on youtube. I fish with those guys often, as we don't usually go over 20lb leaders. I personally fish with 8-10lb leaders for drummer.

Did you keep him? They taste pretty good.

Congrats on your first sp bream. Don't be afraid to leave the plastic sitting on the bottom for a few seconds. They even grab them sitting. cheers

I recommend going to the sand flats at low tide. Walk out the the drop off where it becomes deep and fish there unweighted. As the tide moves in, start walking back over the flats and fish there, as the fish will move in to feed. cheers Scott

I would get a better second hand kayak. they get banged up pretty quick and a better second hand one would be much better than the cheap new ones. Better kayaks track better and are a lot more stable if designed for fishing. You could then sell the yak for not much loss in value when time to upgrade. If I had the choice again, I would save up some more and get a glass yak. They are so much lighter and faster. But they are expensive. I will probably upgrade mine this summer. cheers

Hi, I live quite a distance away from the coast so not sure how the beaches are looking for a fish this weekend. Anyone know if they are looking ok for a fish on either Saturday or Sunday. I can go anywhere between the central coast all the way down to the Royal national Park. The last time I went, it was covered in weed and unfishable. cheers

I would give the lure a few flicks then let it sit for about 10 seconds. Flick again then let it sit. Sometimes the bream will pick it up off the bottom.
