  1. Its a good thing you didnt. Swell periods high, was about 15secs in the day, 13 at night and a bit higher today. Would be pretty dangerous most rock ledges.
  2. Really depends on budget and reason why you'd want to catch yakkas. If yakkas for bait, they have specific sabiki rods out there, unsure if any good. If you want to fish for them for fun, look up "Aji rods". But a the end of the day, really depends how specific you want to get into them. If you want the 1 setup to cater for bream & squid as well, Id probably look for a squid setup (Egi setup), rather than the yakka (aji) one. Again, depends if you want to get really specific with it all. And if not, any other rod/reel should do it, as long as not heavy setups. Youd want to learn towards more into the "Light" department.
  3. Yeah I heard some people just walked around or through it anyways.
  4. Yeah I just took a look. Its been a number of years since Ive last looked, it appears to have changed. I remember it specifying middle head & a few others not included as it was managed by Sydney council (even though it was a national park) or something along those lines.
  5. I think Ive read its closed down. New fence/gates errected and the chains on the cliff cut, after someone fell and injured/died a couple months back. Its proabably best shown the way by someone know the ledge, rather than go and explore based on directions given, type of ledge.
  6. National parks pass wont cover that area. Covers nsw excluding about 3 or 4 parks, which are located in the city areas. Usefull for all other places. Also, if you do it when you renew your rego, its cheaper. Was like $50 or something off memory. That is the nsw multipass excluding kosi
  7. yeah that could be it. Link actually didnt work for me, but it could be due to me using work computer.
  8. I think the problem with location names being lost these days are more due to people not willing or wanting to do the homework. Most ledges can be found with a bit of google researching. There are many articles and forums (mainly this one) that actually show you the places and their names, even how to get there. But just as a head start, there is a map somewhere in this forum with Sydney ledges. It was actually this forum that I learnt I could actually make my own google map many many many years back, and thats what got the ball rolling for me to put my own personal one together with all the ledges, "known" names, what its known for and other useful information that I typically look for (eg. terrain, comfortable swell...). This is probably especially good when you forget what some of the ledges are like, as youd wouldnt frequent them as often.
  9. Its probably the illegal spearo killing of Gus that happens almost yearly now thats sparked this. I forget which version of Gus we're up to now.
  10. If possible, do it in a place where theres no carpet on the floor, or ideally a smaller room. That way, when something flies away from some form of spring, you can find that part again. Other then that, practice makes perfect.
  11. At first I was thinking the same thing, "Aught" being "Naught", however, saw these: and
  12. Yeah that manual key is just for the door only. Its odd but the process to start the car was to still use the fob but use it to press the start. Didnt work in the case I was trying to get the car started but issue might just be different. I think its the situation where the fob battery is low rather than have an issue with the car receiver where it would work
  13. I beleive you put the fob on the push button and use that to press onto the button. Something I had recently had to learn as there was no key slot to start the car
  14. If youre running braid, with running sinker, to swivel followed by leader and so forth, then youre more likely to get twist/tangles, mostly in running water. Youre probably better off running it with mono or put the running sinker on the leader side.
  15. As others have suggested, wading bag, or you could look into fishing vest, soo many different types to pick and choose from.
  16. Theres a person insta that makes lures out of random objects. From bashing clunks of lead or a berocca container. After he makes them, he uses them to fish. If you look historically through his profile, you can see how well he has gotten making them. Not all lures are self made but a fair few. Profile name: Kyoichi_Higashi. Interesting seeing him catch with them.
  17. Hi Sinkenken, you should also pay extra attention to the swell period when looking at swells. The period will be measured in seconds. The swell height is one thing and can be managed, but you can have a very low swell height with a high period which is very dangerous. Ideally, try to not go onto rocks where the period is over 10secs (10seconds not overly bad but good to draw the line in the sand at that point). Be sure to factor in swell direction, location & also the locations terrain (Eg, some ledges have deep water right next to the rock ledge, so the water can appear lower from a distance but will rise just before hitting the ledge).
  18. They called them "casting canon" back in the day. More for surf fishing, used alot overseas compared to here. Probably more useful slugging out bigger baits than light stuff. I bought one for the novelty of it about a decade or so ago. Was about -$5 back then, last I saw some people on fb trying to selling them for 15-20.
  19. kind of reminds me of a rainbow runner only not exactly
  20. Its hard to say what the noisy part is coming from without actually hearing it. Alot of the time, the bearing in the line roller tends to go, which makes it noisy, but Sienna's dont have bearings there, it's usually a bushing. The sound could be anything from salt build up over time (you don't need to dunk the reel to have a build up) or the noise that some braids make going through the roller. If you want to learn how to open and/or start servicing your reel, the sienna would be a good reel to try it with. Its a simple reel and a much cheaper starting point. The hardest part I think for people is not having a the right tool to open certain parts. If you do choose to open up the reel, schematics can easily be found online if you're having any trouble. Just be sure not to play around too much with the clutch (that middle cylinder labelled 18549 below) or put any grease on it (also try not open it all the way, its can be a little annoying to put back when all the pins fall out of the clutch).
  21. Price-wise that is very cheap for that lot. That could be the main reason why he grabbed 10.
  22. We call that the first cast curse. We aim not to get anything on first cast.
  23. She's probably youtubing "how to" be a parent
  24. Right handed, wind right hand. The argument with many right handed ppl that wind with left is that its slower as you have to switch over. Made no sense to me as they are fully abled ppl, surely they couldnt be that slow to switch hands whilst their rig is in the air. Plus I find my left arm has more control over the rod and is more sensitive so I can feel more minute taps. I also see that more right handed ppl that wind with left tend to be more vocal about it, being the "Correct" way to fish. Where right hand right winders arent as often fussed about it.
  25. There's a big difference between a 6000 size Saragosa and a 4000 sized Sustain. Between the 2, you should pick the one that fits the rod (Eg Balance, Reel seat etc). 4k Sustain is 285g, whilst the Gosa 6k is 455g. You wont fit those 2 reels on the same rod (comfortably).
