  1. Tastee, if you need a second transducer to confirm that yours is going cactus then im happy to lend you out my old HST-WSBL 83/200KHz. That was you can just plug it in your HDS7, stick the transducer in a bucket of water and see if it reads temp. Let me know if you want to go that way before you start ripping your transducer off your boat.
  2. ladies and gentlemen..... we have a troll......
  3. pink......... really? any particular reason?
  4. Or.. you could just fish from the balcony like these blokes did... http://www.businessinsider.com.au/this-guy-was-able-to-go-fishing-from-his-balcony-because-of-flooding-from-the-sydney-storms-2016-6
  5. So.... Are we going to get a fishing report out of this beach session or what?
  6. Stevefish, a 60cm out for a jewie? That would be kind of interesting... At least i would know i have something decent on the other end if anything dared take the bait
  7. True crossfire, though its hard to nail small ones, they are often around the 60cm mark...
  8. Caught jew with salmon baits before so no problems there. I slab bait a fillet. I cut it into 3 or 4 pieces depending on the size of the salmon. Any fish that is fresh will work off the beach, dont let people tell you otherwise. Jew can be caught on trevally, dart, whiting, blackfish, sand crabs and tailor just to name a few. Basically if it swims around the beaches or beach headlands its good for bait as long as its fresh. Now, Jew certainly have their preferences but if i had any of the above species as freshly caught bait (that is, i caught it that afternoon on the beach and will stay on fora jew session) i certainly would not be packing up and would be giving it a shot!
  9. So thats where my desert spoon went!
  10. BTW how do osborne shoals look?
  11. Shhhhhh Boattart! Big swells dont stir anything up apart from rubbish and debris. And which fish would like to swim in THAT?!
  12. carp....... its like your eating a week old half rotten salmon covered in mud!
  13. I have been researching it for quite a while now and i am about to bite the bullet and go for it strictly for Jew of a couple of beaches where i need to get out past the breakers. By all accounts it should be an effective Jew rig. Not too sure how it would stand up as a kingy rig though.
  14. unless your local member is a keen fisho and visits fishraider for all the latest news!
  15. Great! haven't laughed like that in a while!
  16. winter is coming..... And so are the Hairtail!
  17. Loving your work Fab! I know it takes a lot of effort writing these up (having to stop every so often to take pictures) so i really do appreciate it!
  18. Sydney is a big place Mike, can you be a bit more specific?
  19. Butchers preeks are great dusted in flour and shallow fried! sweet as! just have a fair few small bones thats all.
  20. Last year i came home from a two week holiday to realise i didnt close the freezer door on the 14kg box of pilchards.. The old freezer was iced over and thankfully some of the pillies in the centre were still semi frozen but the rest were...... interesting. That was not a good day....
  21. wow, nice bag of muddies mate! I have heard that perforating cat food cans works well and the buggers find it hard to get into but the smell keeps wafting out?
  22. Was at the central coast last year fishing a well known beach with other fisherman for salmon when a commercial fisho crew came on the beach with their utes and tinny/gear in tow. They saw we were catching salmon so they proceeded to net the beach right in front of us and wipe out the huge school in one swoop. Needless to say all of the rec fishos were dumbstruck at the amount of fish they pulled out in one hit and it really made us talk about the duplicity of government in regards to fish stock conservation efforts considering the rec fishermen individual bag limit is 5 salmon. Whereas an hour or less of work from a commercial fisho managed to haul in, at an estimate of course, 300-400 salmon and i feel im being conservative here. (considering i rarely if ever take home salmon as in my view its only ok eating when not frozen) Oh, and the samon were going to be used for lobster bait.
  23. cheap pair of nail clippers for trimming line is always underrated and an old philips head screwdriver ground to a point on a bench grinder works wonders for spiking fish!
  24. Even though you are getting the same top end out of higher revs with the reduced pitch, you should be getting better holeshot and on the plane faster!
  25. We have a common name for a dog shark..... 'chuck up shark' Not sure if you have experienced this, but when you pull them out they usually start retching and spew out bait in an effort to dislodge themselves from the hook.
