  1. Have they decided whether or not it’s safe to again use the water again after the sewer spill mid last week??
  2. I've been saving all my 'birds nests' lately (trying to teach the daughter to cast) and been giving that a try as well........ Tie a few of them together, tie on the bait in the middle of it, and send it down..... Stupid crabs get stuck in the mess and can't get out. Doesn't work all the time, but the strike rate it pretty good compared to just a hook and bait......
  3. Try soaking it in tuna oil and curry powder.......
  4. Go to your nearest Aldi and pick up 5 chicken breast in a pack for $12...... It's pretty much the only 'bait' I use and very rarely does it not produce something.....
  5. Nice haul mate...... I'm finally getting a chance to take the boat out on Saturday with my young fella. I'll be happy with just one of those flatties... my young bloke might catch a couple but no doubt, but I'll end up with donuts again like I always do when I take him out!!
  6. Brissy Waters is a brilliant place to fish mate, I love the area.... I can't remember the exact amount, but I've caught somewhere around 35 different species in there myself. Without knowing exactly where you'll be saying it's hard to say what you're likely to catch, but the good old prawn will work wonders in there on just about every spieces. Don't be afraid to use some breed either, not just brilliant for burley, but also an underrated bait....... Good luck and enjoy the weekend mate....
  7. Hmmmmm, Possible Yowie encounter?? http://www.animalplanet.com/tv-shows/finding-bigfoot/videos/chilling-australian-bigfoot-encounter/
  8. I've been away for a couple of days so haven't seen what it's like near the bridge, but generally after this much rain she'll be dirty like Stapo said...... The river/creek out the back is up about roughly a metre deeper than normal, so all that water has to end up somewhere...... There'll still be fish out there though, if you're keen enough........
  9. I'm right handed, and I reckon if I had to reel a fish in with my left hand I'd never get one in the boat!! I've tried it a couple of times and feel like such a gumby doing it I change it back as quick as I can.....
  10. That's a pretty nice haul for some pretty dodgy conditions. Good work...... I've seen a lot of people doing the drift under the Rip Bridge, but have never really seen anybody catch anything..... I always go and find a deep hole and anchor up and always seem to catch our fair share, everything from octopus to red rock cod.... It really is one of my favourite spots to fish. We've caught well over 20 different species from just that spot alone. I should actually sit back and try and count the exact number one day. But it is a pointless place to anchor up if the water is running to hard, almost impossible to get find the bottom with your bait!!
  11. If we didn't snag the rest for a feed I may been tempted to take a couple home, but wasn't gona bother with the esky filling quickly with fat bream and flatties..... To be honest mate, I wouldn't have a clue. All my fishing around there is done on a boat finding deep holes everywhere, so land based I can't comment...... Only 1 way to find out how good it is though isn't there, so get amongst it!!
  12. Thanks boys, Also forgot to mention that we caught at least 8 Red Rock Cod that got throw back to the depths. I know they are sensational eating, but they seem just a bit to much hassle for me to worry about. I'm more a fillet and fry kinda guy....... Prob should've said it real name, sorry mate, Brisbane Waters........... Woy Woy, Gosford and all that area around there...
  13. Finally got a chance to take the boat back out (been out once since January) so decided to head to my favourite spot, Brissy Waters. Caught most of these bad boys in my spot right next to the Rip Bridge. The smaller flatty and the squid were caught drifting right next to the green channel markers in Paddys Channel..... The snapper came in at bang on 32cm, no idea what the others measured cause they were obviously legal so didn't bother. Man it feels good to get back out amongst it!!
  14. Just means when you do actually land a crab, They a pretty damn big and worth keeping........
  15. I don't think you can use them near the bridge, but the DPI website will give you exact locations of we're you're not allowed. As for bait, absolutely anything. Mullet chunks and slabs work really well, but so do left over prawns heads and old bait and last nights leftover spaghetti....... They're not all that fussy It's up to you how long you leave it for, but I wouldn't leave it over night. A lot of stories around that gear goes missing over night and all you're left with is a bit of rope and a foam ball!! It's never happened to me, but ive never left anything out over night in the lakes. The creeks on the other hand.............
  16. Man, I've gotta get my motor fixed and get back out amongst it. all these fish being caught right on my doorstep, you blokes aren't gonna leave any in there when im good to go again!!
  17. Good to see the dredge back too...........
  18. Sounds like everybody had a ball, absolutely spewing i couldn't make it, but glad everyone enjoyed our little water way......... As for my penance for cancelling out to stay an extra day after a wedding, well I've picked up some kind of virus or something and have barely gotten out of bed since Sunday!! Will definitely make the next one if you's decide to head this way again. Congrats everyone.
  19. Be thankful that it was a Red Belly. Cause whilst their around, you won't find any browns. And you don't want any of those crazy things anywhere near you!! When i used to train horses, I could always tell if there was a snake around and what kind of snake it was. If there was a Red Belly around, especially when i was working them on the track, the horses would just %%%%% their ears, give a little snort and carry on. If there was a brown somewhere close, the horses would just stop in their tracks, try and turn around, rear up, and carry on a real treat........ Animal instinct i guess. Oh, and the last thing you should do if you see a brown crossing a road or something is run over it, unless you can guarantee you'll run over its head!! Seen to many rap themselves around axles and stuff and survive...... And if you do happen to run over one, look in the rear vision mirror to make sure it's still there!!

    How useful

As long as someone is prepared to be the 'anchor man' and help clean all the rubbish out at the end of the session, that's all i ask for..... Im not gona bother asking people for petrol money when im gona be out in the boat as well. And to be honest, how much $$ worth of petrol will you go through in a day?? $20 maybe?? Im not gona lose any sleep over that amount!! How long does it take to clean the boat when i home?? Maybe half hour?? Im really not to concerned if nobody wants to follow me home and hold a hose....... Maybe buy some bait, maybe bring some drinks, and make me laugh and enjoy the day and thats all i ask for (as well as being the anchor slave ). But in saying all of that, my mates that i take out with me most of the time are pretty good. One bloke buys the bait, another bloke brings the food and drink, and the other bloke cooks the bbq and is the anchor boy. We also have a punt on the horses whilst were out there too, so we have to use their betting accounts and their phones as well....
  21. Nice catch mate, where abouts did you hook that lot?? I'm hoping to take the kids out in the lake tomorrow to see how we go. But i plan on just drifting up and down the channels....
  22. Brilliant...... The wifes got a robot vacuum cleaner thingy,so i think its fair i can have one of these. Yea??
  23. 2 weeks?? Oh you poor buggers!! I live on one of the rivers flowing into Tuggerah Lake and i havent even fished from my backyard since middle of January. Think the boat has only had one outting in about 12 months as well..... AND, The golf clubs havent even been touched in around 2 months either!! How do you reckon my 'cranky levels' are goin?!?! Stupid work and stupid renovations getting in the way of life!!
  24. Mate, we made the move up the coast in May last year. Best thing we've ever done. Im a tradie as well, and drive down to Hoxton Park every day and it takes me about 1.5 hrs each way. But im usually finished work and back up here by 3ish most days. You get used to the drive. I prefer to leave home around 6:30 cause the M1 traffic any earlier than that is down right scary. I honestly dont know how there isnt a dozen accidents every day. And yup, Pennant Hills rd is a nightmare but at least i dont feel like my day is gona end in a fire'y inferno!! As for the fishing. You cant go wrong with Brissy Waters in my opinion. And from in there you can get into Pittwater, or the Hawkesbury or pretty much wherever you wana go. I prefer to just stay in Brissy Waters myself, cause there's enough fish in there to keep me happy. Plus im on Tuggerah Lake, so theres also that option....... You'll find a house up here for pretty much any price range, you've just gota decide to do it and get it done. Itll be the best decision you'll ever make.........

    Beer

Anything brewed by Montieth (from New Zealand) is awesome....... Everything from their cider all the way to their black beer....... Their Black Beer would possibly be my favourite beer at the moment, and has been for a long time now. Bug a very acquired taste, not everybody likes it. Dan Murphys is your friend!!
