  1. I’m in WA at the moment and the people I’m with are huge fans of AFL and are mad “D’s” fans. Their game started around the same time as the Matilda’s ended, but with the penalty shootout they couldn’t turn the girls off to watch the start of their beloved game and that’s saying something. Go Girls
  2. Brassy’s are very common in WA Jon. That is in the Kimberley region.
  3. Oh, and your Can holder is great as well. 👍
  4. That’s awesome you 2. We were up at Wauchope around the end of June and had lunch above the river just up from the boat ramp. Looking down we could see some great Bream moving along in the shallow water below us. Now where’s the theory they move out to the coast in Winter to spawn. PS. Great photos as well. Thanks.

Yes noticed the same thing at the show regarding the Mercs, bloody everywhere
  6. That’s a great first, I’m not sure many could say their first fish on a Fly was a Luderick.
  7. And the kids will remember this time for the rest of their lives. Great stuff.

    boat show

Yes I went Jon, A bit of a day out catching up with mates. As for prices, I did ask 4 dealers the price on boats I was interested in. 3 were super keen on Thursday morning and took my details …..the other one, I seemed to be a burden. I’ve only heard from one out of the three.
  9. Hard yards by the sound of it and a reward in the end. That’s a great colour, I used to use a similar colour scheme up on the Nymboida years ago on a Manns 7-9

    boat show

One of the good things about a show like this. If you in the market to buy a boat it’s easy to walk around and get a good idea all in the one place.
  11. Sorry for the Belated report. Only got back late yesterday. Came down to Sydney on Tuesday to go to the Boat Show and also catch up with some mates and as we were off to the show on Thursday that gave us a chance to duck out for a fish on Wednesday. Well, what crap conditions Wednesday turned out to be with a raging current from the North and a big South East Swell turning it into a washing machine. If you were going to get Sea Sick this was the day and the Maltese Falcon spent most of the time on the floor resting 😄 We nearly pulled the pin out the front of Jibbon but crept further south. No idea what depth we were in as my mates sounder decided to give up the ghost. As other reports indicated the Blue Spots were thin on the ground with it hard going but ended up with 14 and a good Flounder. @Yowie's mate turned up which I recon is a Brown Skua but happy to be corrected, there were also a couple of other large Ocean type birds flying past, some sort of Gannet or Booby. A few Whales were seem with one close that scared us when it exhaled. This looks similar to what Yowie posted. Our catch with the Flounder on the opposite end. Still great catching up with mates.
  12. Back in the day we used to catch them up just past the Bridge in Mangrove creek.
  13. On another note, outside on the water most of the boats were tied up to floating pontoons but one spot where there were pylons, some of the Bream I saw were on the very large side.
  14. Did you see the boat outside on the pontoons with the twin 600HP Verados on it. Yikes. Another with quad 450’s Smaller than last year but I came down from up the coast and caught up with a couple of mates who I haven’t seen for a few months and went together. Great day out for us. There seemed more boats out on the wharfs/pontoons but I may be mistaken. I was looking for a boat.
  15. At least a feed, we are heading south of Port Hacking tomorrow so I’ll let you know but they seem a bit thin on the ground those Blue Spots at the moment.
  16. I thought Deckee has a stand but just can’t find it at this moment https://sydneyboatshow.com.au/

    Cycling

I still ride a bike but have been a bit slack lately with the move and all, but after many years of knee abuse (sport and work) they now have a newish lease on life. Now back in the day I rode a bike to get to fishing spots. It was an old steel frame beast that was to big for me and a hand me down from the next door neighbour. I never knew about a properly fitted bike, I was just happy to have one. Just one gear and a back caliper brake,.That bike went on for many years and played many a role in my life. I lived at Gladesville and you couldn’t ride anywhere without a hill. I’d ride to the end of Wharf road and also Punt road fishing for Bream. Also used to ride to the wharf that was under Gladesville Bridge at the time fishing for anything that would take my bait. As a kid my brain had no limitations on what you would catch. A line in the water was good enough for me. The bike then went up to my Grandmothers house at Umina as we had a granny flat at the back. We were in Ocean Beach road close to the beach. I would ride down to the rocks between Umina and Pearl beach and fish near the rock baths or or walk around facing the ocean. I would also ride to Ocean beach and Ettalong fishing for Whiting and Flathead. For Blackfish I would ride to Woy Woy bridge or the Baths. So the Bike was a means of transportation rather than exercise back in the day for me but I always loved it and supplied plenty of fresh fish for the family. Eventually getting old enough to buy a car (XR 67 Falcon) that made it easier but the bike lived on for many a year dubbed “The Booze Bike”. RBT’s we’re just coming in. Where I could ride to a party or the Ettalong memorial club, before they did it up with a mate, have a beer and only hurt myself if I fell off which I did a couple of times, Oh to be young and stupid. My Grandmother passed away so my family sold the house but the bike went to my mates who rode it for many a year and he has just passed away as well. Great memories. Now people call me a MAMIL. (Middle aged man in Lycra) and I quickly correct them and tell them I’m a OMIL. Old Man in Lycra. Bahhhaaa 😃
  18. Juvenile Brown Skua ?????
  19. Had a couple of mate went south of Port Hacking yesterday and had similar results as you Yowie. They will be biting their heads of next week when I come down for a visit 🙏 😀 Also have a look at this site and you may recognise the bird but juveniles to adults are often different colourings.. mmm a bit like fish. https://oceanwide-expeditions.com/blog/birds-of-the-south-33-antarctic-and-sub-antarctic-species-facts
  20. Great story and a great dog you have there Bob. PS Don’t tell her she’s a dog as she won’t believe you. Bob patting Rosie “Good dog Rosie” Rosie looking up at Bob “Dog, where’s the the dog, I like them, can we get a dog Bob”
  21. A couple I liked from NZ. The Herbs. Reggae with topical political songs. They got very well know by playing with Dave Dobin (DD Smash) The Bats. Still got a couple of their records ….. somewhere. Screaming Meemees. Just a great pub band. Plus the well know ones, Dragon, Split Enz. Thanks Mike Sydney and DerekD.
  22. Great Aussie Pub band in the 80’s “ God -My Pal.” Picture seeing them back then, in Dingy, badly lit room full of energy and sweat with every one going off. I know, I know, not everyone’s cup of tea. On a sad note, 2 of the 4 members went on to die of Heroin overdoses later in life. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAVz4PW1WMA
  23. That’s such a great effort to correlate all that, thanks for taking then time and effort DerekD.
  24. Ahh the Ermo, The Family Hotel up the road at Rydalmere also had some good bands. Last time I went there many moons ago I watched Spy V Spy.
  25. Dark and dingy, down the stairs where the carpet is sticky with spilt Bourbon and Coke. 😀
