  1. Nice report Cody m8, good to see your getting out there
  2. What a stonker of a day! You won't be forgetting that any time soon. Congratulations on the jewie man, massive effort!
  3. Hey man, Bit of a spot I keep to myself if im honest man. But between Pickering Point and the spit there definitely around!
  4. Went out for a flick in a spot of mine in middle harbour (near spit) and Paddled out on my little dinghy on Monday afternoon on the low tide. Brought with me just one soft vibe, some leader and pliers in the hope of picking up a jewie, was fishing in about 35ft and hopping the vibe back over a ledge I'd previously found. After about 2 hours, felt a little tap and then a solid weight on the other end, 2 long runs of zzzzzzz and 5 minutes later managed to bring him up, a nice jewies coming in between 60-70cm. A few quick snaps and back in the water he went and off to work I headed! I was using 10lb line and 10lb leader on a Stradic 3000 ? Was a lovely afternoon out there with a slight breeze and beautiful sunset!
  5. Hey mate, Doesn't look like the image has shown up on my end? Maybe try uploading it again, may just be on my PC though, not sure if anyone else can see it!
  6. I have to agree with tef1on, although plenty of kings I've caught have had some head shakes, but exactly as he called it- a salmon, a loose drag and the tearing of your leader on the rocks.
  7. Hey raiders! I'm over on holiday round Europe for a couple months! In particular the UK staying with some of the fam. Coming up in October I've been given the chance to do some salmon and trout fishing.. My relatives primarily fly fish and I 'spin' for the most part.. Now what I'm wanting to know is if there is any difference between spinning for salmon and trout over here compared to spinning metals for tailor kings salmon etc back in oz? Is there anything I need to change or do differently? Thanks in advance guys!!
  8. Clontarf has a pretty steep drop off just metres from the shore all along the beach. It'll hold an array of good fish, I've seen flathead, bream, bonnies, salmon and jew caught off there. I'd recommend grabbing a light metal such as a gillies 10 or 15gram and walking the beach spinning early in the morning or on dusk. For plastics again just keep moving, never stay in the same spot unless your getting onto the fish.
  9. Yes they do. At night I like to use the scented gulps that are as close to black as possible. The fish can see the plastic as a silhouette against the surface. I'm sure blades work well as well, just a slower retrieve i'd imagine. You can get glow in the dark ones, but I wouldn't bother. Stinkiest and darkest plastics is what I go for.
  10. Hey buddy, Best advise I can give for Flathead in the lakes is to simply pick a starting point and walk all the way up the lake as far as you can flicking plastics out and bringing them in with a very slow retrieve, one or two hops, pause and repeat. Flathead don't tend to move around a lot, particularly during the Winter months and it is essentially your job to find them! I'd recommend some Berkley Gulp plastic lures in the Nuclear Chicken colour and about 3" inches in length. I'd match that with a 1/8th or 1/6th TT jighead (some would say to heavy). Look for drop offs and areas where weed meets sand or mud. I also like to assess the tide and as best I can position my casting so I'm bring my lure with the current, as flathead will generally sit facing in the current. Get as much as a twitch in your line and strike! Good luck man! Cheers OMJ
  11. Awesome catches dude, those drummer are fat!
