Hi Ross (flightmanager) - I know it's been a long time coming. I've had a good laugh reading some of the posts today, especially the fishraider member who had an eventful experience on the Hawkesbury ... LOVE THAT RIVER! Must get back into posting some successful fishing experiences and the blunders, and more importantly make more time to wet a line. I still adore fishing and hope to do more now that it's getting too cold for watersports. Thanks for posting a reply. Cheers Marg

My 14 year old decided to go prawning one night last week and whilst strolling along the sand banks of Berowra Waters he discovered he wasn't alone. To his surprise a dirty big mud crab had joined him on his challenge to secure a feed. With the help of his mate, he struggled but to his delight managed to net this whopping big muddy and they opted to toss the 3 prawns they had caught to dedicate the bucket to the crab! Well done Nicko!

Can anyone tell me what type of fish this is and whether it is edible? My son caught this today around little Manly and it had really big teeth which made it difficult to remove the hook . Being a regular to the Hawkesbury and exploring a different waterways today, we haven't seen this one before . Thanks & Cheers Marg

Well Jo - I like that you mentioned Flightmanager's name (knowing that he is such a celebrity on FR) ... what about the phone call to me to google catfish poison? It's no surprise though that when I did google it, it came up with a post from Fishraider - what a great resource this website is! If you are going to fish around the Brooklyn/bridges area I'd suggest you purchase one of those rip the guts/hook from the fish thingymebobs and keep it in your own fishing tackle pack. I normally slide the claw (fish scales) thingy over the catfish's head then remove the hook with the hook remover thingymebob - this method works well as you know from our Thelma & Louise adventures. Your words of wisdom still, should I say, haunt me when I'm out fishing - such as "Fish like structure", "You have to think like a fish", "You kidding!" and "me bad". No worries Jess - maybe we could get your siblings and my mob to catch the train/bus down to Brooklyn one afternoon after school - then drop the uninterested party off at a beach while we fish. No doubt your Mum and I will spend the day down there anyway. Just yell if you need help setting up that "Classic Catch" masterpiece. I suggest you go real big on the frame (ie. Homebiz). FABULOUS NEWS JESS!!! Well done to all Now with regards to framing that shirt wouldn't it look great with a bit of scrapbooking to embellish it - surely Mum could help you there I can see it now along with a copy of your Fishraider report and photos. That way you can continue to remind anyone who steps into your house of your great success ... I know that's what I do! Stumpy as per usual a classic report with great photos to tell the story. This king fishing technique sounds easy .... smoke / wee - just reel your line in for a hook up, then ride the storm and finish up with some war paint from your victim. Why didn't I think of that? Hey henryinnis - it's been soooooo long since I've posted anything- 6 months to be exact. I'm planning as soon as the kids go back to school to hit the hawkesbury hard and get some sort of routine back in my life with regards to some regular fishing. I miss it soooo much - glad to hear the fish are alive and kicking! WATCH OUT!!!!! Love to see some pics if you have any. Cheers Marg
