  1. Benums, Got out early this morning and down to the Stawell park humps... not a lot doing for us but there were reports of success at the mouth of PH. BTW - don't think I'll be going back toWallys Wharf again... not the best ramp as others conveyed. Cheers, Paul
  2. Hi Raiders, Thinking about taking a run south out of Port Hacking tomorrow for the first; two questions that I guess go hand in hand: 1) is Wallys Wharf (WW) boat ramp the best option, and 2) at low-ish tide is WW okay for a 6m glass boat? Feedback appreciated. Paul
  3. Hi Raiders, Sorry bout the lateness of this post; got up early on Thur and on the water by 6:30. Went out to a couple marks in close and a little wider in Broken Bay, all for zero keepers! Tried some normal haunts (Valiants)... again nothing doing. Two bites only, and one undersized flathead in about five hours... Very slow to say the least. Tried the normal ground but there was a lack bait around... or what we could find anyway. Came back into Hawksberry River to my back-up - always fish - plan; again one bite and another small undersized flathead. Saw not one trawler working the river... should have picked up that hint before burning fuel. Anyway, bad day on water beats a good day at work anytime... good luck to anyone heading out over the weekend. Love to hear any reports from BB and the river as I am taking some interstate people for a fish on Wed next week. Cheers, Paul
  4. Hi Raiders, Here's our boat; recently purchased from a fellow that spent quite a bit of time offshore... so it might be recognisable to some of the blue water fishos. Haines Hunter 600 Classic 175 e-Tec Evinrude Growing up we mainly fish the Hawksberry and Broken Bay, but happy to spread the wings and try some new ground. Still getting used to her and bought on the premise of doing more offshore sport fishing, so I hope to tag along with some fellow raiders from here on, learning the ropes and skills to get some blood on the deck! Hope to see you on the water sometime soon; don't be afraid to say hi. Paul
  5. If dates lineup I'm in. This will be my first trip out from Port Hack... normally fish the Hawksberry and Broken Bay, so a little company and direction will be great to expand my experience. I'll keep an eye on future posts.
  6. Hi all, Had a respond from DPI as follows. DPI wrote: I've just checked the rules and regulation guide and the only information I can find regarding using a pest species is this. "Do not transfer fish between waterways and do not use live fish as bait in freshwater or live OR dead Redfin Peach as bait in freshwater - it is illegal" Going off that rule, I would say that there wouldn't be a problem with using carp as bait as long as you are fishing in saltwater. I'm not sure what numbers you had contacted but I'd advise calling the following numbers and speaking to a fisheries officer if would like wanted more information. Coffs Harbour - ph: 02 6652 3977 mob: 0419185536 Sydney North - ph: 02 8437 4903 mob: 0419185363 Batemans Bay - ph: 02 4472 4032 mob: 0427855008" Regards, Paul
  7. Thanks all... a lot of views and appreciate the feedback. I live near a waterway that has way too many carp in it, and thought a Sunday afternoon picnic could be even more productive by killing two birds with one stone (so to speak). Probably time to get a ruling from dpi. Cheers.
  8. I too am interested to know some boat friendly spots, morning and evening. Cheers.
  9. Hi All, Being a new member to this forum and my first post, I thought I would enquire about a bait myth I have heard... I have been told that fresh water carp are good saltwater bait and burley (closed and offshore waters) due to the toughness of the skin to hang on. I'm not sure about the legitimacy of the claim, but interested in member views and experience in this regard if they have any. Any feedback would be appreciated.
