  1. I have been looking at it thinking the same thing. I stopped on the heathcote road one day but it looked like a mission to be able to get down with all the gear. I have heard there are bass in there for sure! Might set off early one morning and see where I can get to Sent from my GT-I9195T using Tapatalk
  2. Do you eat the fish from this section of the river?
  3. Thanks man. I havn't tried the back of the lake yet. When it starts to warm up I might try the feeder creeks for some ep's. The front of the lake is productive for the flatties but there is also a deep hole off wellington road which pulls up some good flatties and bream. I find the colder weather might make them more lethargic, but they still need to eat so if you put effort in to move around you can still get good catches. As for the tide, I usually fish fresh water but I have noticed that the last couple of hours of the incoming tide have been productive for me. Cheers, Conor
  4. My first report. A quick one from the lakes a few weeks ago 24/6/15. I arrived at the lake at about 10, 2 hours before the high tide and fished until 2 hours after high tide. There was a fair bit of wind which made it tough fishing in the yak but I managed to get into a few. I caught 7 flathead, ranging from 320mm-450mm. The flathead were caught with 2.5inch grubs in motor oil colour on jigheads of 1/8th oz and 1/12th oz. I also caught 5 small bream. The bream were caught on 2.5in grubs in pink and blood worm colour on 1/16th oz jighead. The fish were all undersized bar 1. When getting from A to B in the lake I trolled my ecogear sx-40 along the drop offs in the hope of a bream but this resulted in 5 small tailor which went pretty hard for the size of them. All caught using 1-3kg timber wolf, 1000 stradic ci4 spooled with 5lb braid and 4lb black magic fluro leader. All in all a pretty good session for one of my first sessions in saltwater. I kept 2 flathead for the table and all other fish were returned.
  5. Calamari is Italian for squid, and often all types of squid are referred to as calamari when served as food. However calamari is also a type of squid, with southern and northern species. Also known as southern reef squid and big fin reef squid
  6. Heading down to Jugiong in a couple of weeks and just wondering if anyone has fished this part of the river and what fish I might expect to find here. Cod, yellowbelly? Any info is appreciated. Thanks, Conor
  7. Yeah if I noticed any weakening of the leader I would obviously change that, but it's good to know some people use these to good effect. I have ordered some owner p15 silent snaps so will give them a go when they arrive. Thanks for the advice, I appreciate it.
  8. Ok well I will have to give them a go and see how i go. Never thought of using them before and never hear any bass fishos talking about them but when they are being fussy I think they might be beneficial. Although I'm probably just being lazy. Thanks for your input guys
  9. Thanks for the replys. I have been primarily targeting bass but now the season's closed I will be chasing bream and flatties and trying for eps. 4-6lb braid and similar fluro leader.
  10. I have never used a clip to attach a lure to my line but when the bite is hard it seems like a quick and easy way to change up my presentation. Some people say it could effect the action of a lure but they make them with a rounded end so it seems like it would be similar to a loop knot? Im not sure i would use it for anything other than a hard body. Does anyone use these or have any thought on this subject? Thanks guys, Conor
  11. You could fly fish for bass, some lovely rivers and they're a lot of fun!
  12. Hi mate, do you think this is because of a lack of rain that the fish havnt made it up that far? Cheers for the info on the clubs, will have to look into them. Have looked at a few of your reports on previous trips down south, some excellent stuff mate, makes me want to venture further a field for future trips. Looks like a lot of fun!
  13. Launched there today and headed downstrean for a couple of kms, had to cut short because of the rain but managed a couple of bass the biggest only 30cm. Hard fishing and not great conditions but definately has potential. Have caught bass as far as menangle launching from belgenny. Definately finding more success early mornings.
  14. Thanks for the reply Jeff, I will check out the fish tagging and hopefully it will give me more insight into the bass' movement. Thanks again Conor
  15. Hey mate. I've only launched from there once and didn't notice much activity, got a couple of small bass but I don't think the conditions were real good for it. You're not the only one to mention that to me so I will have to go back and give it a good bash. Thanks
