Had a new rod delivered earlier in the week and had been dying to try it out, Gary Howard Breambo 4 wrap. Had an RDO today so what better time than today. Went out to Booker Bay to pump some yabbies earlier in the day, got there on dead low tide so waited around for an hour for the tide to turn and finally got a few. Headed out to Terrigal/Wamberal beach around 5pm, an hour after the high tide. First cast out with a yabby resulted in a ~40cm flathead. Stayed another 2 hours for nothing, even switched to whitebait on 3 hook rig. All in all it was good to get out in the sun to pump the yabbies and even better to get a fish on the new rig Cheers, Ben

What is the best way to prep and cook whole bream? Mostly applies to the just legal sized fish, whereas I usually fillet and skin the larger ones. I'm guessing I would just have to scale and gut them then pan fry with a little bit of oil?

How about the Wilson live fibre 12' 8-10kg? Is this too heavy off the beach for the more common species?

Hey all, just after some advice on a new beach/rock rod. Will be chasing the usual bread and butter species but would love to handle a jewie and even some pigs off the rocks. Was looking at the 6-10kg range. Does anyone have some recommendations on some one piece rods suited for alveys? Cheers, Ben

Hey all, another noobie here to soak in the invaluable information on this great community! I'm from Terrigal on the Central Coast and I'm into land based spinning in Brisbane waters and tuggerah lakes. Bought my first outfit in August, a sakana alien 7ft rod paired up with a shimano alivio 2500 reel with 5lb power pro braid. Love chasing flathead, my best being 60cm from avoca, but love getting them a bit smaller for a nice feed! Hoping to get amongst them a bit more! Tight lines, Ben
