  1. Good work Fab, I don't have a slot so when I replaced the %%%%%ly steel cable with a strap I just drilled a hole opposite the hole where the old cable came out and was clamped to the outside of the reel and then put a long stainless steel bolt with a flat domed head through putting the nut on the side where the clamp was, took a bit of fiddling (cutting & filing) but I didn't have to disassemble anything bar the clamp and it is an 8mm bolt that just squeezes between the sides when I wind the handle. Oh yes, there was a loop in the end of the strap, I wouldn't have done it otherwise. Oh yes some more, if the nut falls off and the bolt slips I won't be able to turn the reel more than a quarter turn.
  2. I have a pressure can with hose (with sealant inside) to attach to a tyre valve, I've never had to use it and I can't see the brand on the internet but Autobarn have the same thing called Pump my Ride for $16.99 online and in store $? If your tyre does not have a big hole in it you can just re-inflate it to get you quite a long way to a repair facility. https://www.autobarn.com.au/holts-tyre-weld-350g-ht2 PS, I don't work for them or anybody else.
  3. Good pictures, just done mine, I have Holden size hubs and there is an opening both sides in both seats for both bearing outer shells which allows a punch or flat chisel to hit the full thickness of the shell's wall so you don't slip off, needs much cleaning to see them! Some previous person hit what he thought was the shell's back but was actually the lip with the openings in and I had to use a milling tool in my battery drill to level the lip so the new shell would go in all the way. I also had to us a gas torch to heat the hubs as the shells wouldn't move and I put the new ones in the freezer for about 15 minutes which helped to get them in using an old boat trailer roller as a big fat punch, make sure you grease the hub first and when you get it in grease the rest of the shell itself to remove condensation which happens during transit from the freezer. I can't supply a photo as my camera is on the blink.
  4. Hi all, I know I have posted a Playlist link before but I think this particular video deserves a prominent place (it's number 19f) https://youtu.be/7RDhwDwawB0 and if you use a Smartphone or Tablet you won't see the Playlist link at the end of all my existing videos because YouTube are still working on it so here is the link as well http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW9HRAxXk-TDeXdZC1IcKvIZedN0BBwlv If you want to see the burned out pump replaced have a look at Chapter 19e (still uploading as I type, 3 hours to go out of 7) but it is a very long episode and you have to jump forward to find where it is done if you don't want to see how to get it out and don't want to see putting it all back together ending up not working (19f is shorter and correct)

If you're going to do it yourself the main thing to avoid is wind so try and do it indoors somewhere.
  6. Just noticed this topic, maybe my link should be here as well https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW9HRAxXk-TDeXdZC1IcKvIZedN0BBwlv Identify all the mistakes I make in addition to the ones I highlighted in the numerous videos and don't make them yourself! Cheers ... Rud
  7. Sorry, I made it look like Donna's post by mistake, here's a new link, if that doesn't work Google Boats and Other Problems Playlist.

  12. Hi all, I'm almost finished restoring the 1967 Bertram-Caribbean Seasprite or Hellcat, (first built in 1966 and supposed to have changed it's name to Hellcat sometime in 1967 ... WRONG, make that Wildcat, I'm asking International Marine if this is a fact). I've made a series of videos with only photos and text at the beginning then action later. I still have a lot of videos to finish and that takes as long as doing the actual work. I've been at it since the 6th of November 2014, nearly 12 months to now (12 October 2015). I'll place the link to the Video List here and if you subscribe (absolutely anonymous, free and without any obligation) you'll be notified when new videos are uploaded. https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLW9HRAxXk-TDeXdZC1IcKvIZedN0BBwlv If clicking it doesn't work just copy it with the mouse and paste it in Google If that doesn't work Google this; Boats and Other Problems Playlist I am saying Thanks Donna for letting me post this stuff, before I wrote this it looked as if it was Donna's post, told you I'm an old fart
  13. Saw this ... I know it is an old post but it might explain how it works for others, note it is called swivel intead of pivot.
  14. Silicon is a good idea, I bought a mini tube of white yesterday in Bunnings for $3.30 and if you only need it for that and don't have a gun you can push it out with a broom handle, cricket stump, cardboard tube from your empty gladwrap or even the handle end of a screwdriver
  15. If you need a bearing/wheel puller they are not expensive any more, I paid $19.98 in a discount tool shop in Bayswater Vic for a 6" 150mm unit. The writing is a bit small in the picture, I said mine at $19.98 looks the same as this Kinchrome but seeing you may only use it once it's good enough, if it breaks they should give you a new one.
