  1. Looks like everything came to plan for you down at JB. Its always good when the better half gets into our great hobby. Frigates make a great kingy bait dead or alive..Top report and thanks for sharing.
  2. Happy easter everyone.. So todays my bday so i decided to head down to coalcliff around 5am with some squid jiggs and lures hoping for some big squid off the rocks. Swell was big and nasty it just looked like one big washing machine..No other fisherman around other then the guys checking there lobster pots. There were no hits on the squid jiggs so grabbed the other rod and continued to throw around a 40g metal. Ended up with a bonito and tailor for 3hrs of casting both not bad sizes.
  3. Hey mate nice catch, i was up there couple weeks ago throwing plastics along that beach a couple of afternoons/mornings for nil. I did see a few blokes working the flats on run out tide near the dog beach dont know how they went though..
  4. Bit of a late report from 2 weeks ago. So every year the mother in law (mil) takes me the wife and the brother inlaw away to corlette for a weeks holiday at a nice waterfont home. Anyways the brother inlaw and i decide to hire a boat the next day after a few drinks. Next day comes and the bro says his feeling crook and decides not to come. In my head im thinking boat or beach, anyway i decided to grab a a light beach rod and head around to fingal beach to see if i could grab some whiting with some frozen worms id bought the day before. So jumped in the car and was there in no time, sussed out the beach from a look out and chose my gutter. I only packed light with a shoulder bag and 1 rod so i could move up and down the beach with ease. 1st cast into a nice deep gutter comes up with a small dart. So does the second and third cast for the day. 4th cast bait didnt get touched, now im thinking its going to be a slow start. I change the worm and cast out a 5th time and wait for about 3 mins then a couple of nice taps and i set the hook, this things taking line now im thinking dam salmon. A few minutes pass with me chasing this fish up the beach, i cant see the fish jump i think to myself. Then i feel the head shakes every jewie fisho tells you about, now im praying to fish gods let me have my first jewie please... After about 10-15mins (felt like 50mins) i managed to wash it up onto the beach. Fish went 75cm caught around 1pm on a 2-4kg beach rod with 2500 reel 8lb leader. The next morning i went back and got some nice whiting but i cant seem to post the photos of them. Thanks for reading my long post.
  5. Im so jealous, im starting work at 4am and your just finished a session. At least you got 1.
  6. Mate that would truly be a dream to touch that GT, but you can count me out on getting that close to that tiger shark. Well done and thanks for sharing fish whisperer.
  7. Some nice cracker bream there mate well done.
  8. I think they were a 8s but not 100% sure. Id say you would be able to get them on all the sizes you have mentioned.
  9. Hey Raiders, they were caught using tiny green hooks like the ones for blackfish with no float or sinker, i did put a larger swivel on to get the bait just under the top of the surface. All caught on my xfactor squid rod with 8lb leader. I did put one out as a livey but no takers yesterday and last night fried about 4 for the wife and i, now i think my wifes found one of her new favorite fish to eat.. they were beautiful, soughter kinda like whiting.. yummy
  10. Hey all, i ended up getting a late start because the tiler had to finish tiling my bathroom. Got down to the harbour landbased around 10:30, with the aim of using some fresh cuttle fish and squid i caught the night before to temp a kingfish.. Well the kingys didnt show up after 2 whole squid and 1 cuttlefish been eaten by the pickers. So i decided to start berlying with some bread when i noticed a heap of garfish, so i decided to have go at trying to catch a few. Iv never caught a gar before so this was a first for me. Anyways, no kingys but ended up with 10 gars caught on strips of squid, hopefully next time il come home with a nice kingy... til next time, tight lines fishraiders...
  11. Hey mate nice flounder..yummy. For the squid you can try Bumbora point or all around Bare island toward La parouse bay. I only fish these spots if the waters nice and clear with no wind and on run in and out tides. I generally have good success there 5-6 big squid a time.
  12. Hi all, this is my very first post on the forum, so i hope you all enjoy. Started by getting up at around 430am this morning, packed the car the night before so i could get a head start on the traffic. Had a mate say he would come but he was a no show so i left around 520am. I was originally going to coal cliff to try for some squid and have a spin for any palagics but decided to head to La perouse instead. So i beat the traffic and arrived at around 615am and the whether didnt look good at this stage. Anyway grabbed 2 rods my bag and my bucket put my rock boots on and off i went down the hill. I tried a lot of coulours in 3-3.5 size jig with no takes, by this time an hour had passed and i had been drizzled on but no heavy rain. Time to try something different so i downsized to a 2-2.5 jig mainly in red/pink/white and that seemed to do the trick. I ended up leaving at 12ish to beat the traffic and with some nice squid. I also helped a fellow angler get a couple, all in all good to wet a line even if it is by yourself.
